Without looking any of these terms up, can you explain what the following are.... Vegetarian, Pescatarian, Omnivore, Vegan, Carnivore, Ovo-vegetarian, Lacto-vegetarian, Raw vegan, Fruitarian.
Vegetarian- person who doesn't eat meat or fish Pescetarian- person who eats fish but not meat Omnivore- like me, someone who eats anything that they like, and is willing to eat vegetarian meals but not to be fully vegetarian Vegan- person who doesn't eat meat, fish, eggs or dairy (there is also the honey debate, but I'm not wading into that!?) Carnivore- person who eats meat and is stuck in the mud about eating vegetarian food (I know what the technical meaning is, but I apply it mainly to anti-vegetarians). Ovo-vegetarian- person who in addition to the definition of vegetarian above, also doesn't eat dairy, but does eat eggs. Lacto-vegetarian- person who is a vegetarian as above, but avoids eggs, while still eating dairy. Raw vegan- person who doesn't cook food and eats fruit and vegetables (this isn't my idea of a night out!?) Fruitarian- Don't know this one, I'll look it up?
Roast lamb is the smell of coming back from church on a Sunday, having my grandarents visit & eating a Sunday roast. If I had an equivalent to Proust's madeleine it would be that.
My favourite thing is to spend time with my girlfriend but I don't actually do this very often as she lives (what feels like) a long way away. http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/birminghamSo this is what I end up doing.Walking for at least 3 miles each day.Listening to music http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/musicWorking on my photography website http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/photosAlbeit, I don't generally have much to post about as I don't have enough time to do interesting things :(Reading books, and in recent days, watching the Tour de France, where I'm a staunch Geraint Thomas supporter!
Only English sadly, I have tried to learn French, German and Russian but not reached fluency in any of them.I can pick up a few words & phrases from watching subtitled films but couldn't talk to anybody, or even read a newspaper article.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ5vbbY4QsM
What's the first country to come to mind when you hear "Africa"? What's the first country to come to mind when you hear "Asia"? What's the first country to come to mind when you hear "Europe"?
Africa, I admit, makes me think of the stereotype of sub-Saharan Africa of the kind that Bruce Chatwin & Graham Greene wrote about. I haven't been to Africa, though would like to, and I'm sure I'd discover that th whole continent is very diverse and interesting and not as described in The Viceroy of Ouidah by Bruce The topic of Europe is interesting because although I think of myself as European, I've still been influenced by the idea of Britain as being a seperate thing to Europ so when I heard Europe I would think not of here but of France, Germany and even more so Austria and the Habsburg lands. So I suppose those are the prejudices I have but as I say I'd be open to expanding my horizons if I got the chance.
The name "Singapore" means "lion city" but lions never lived naturally in Singapore. What's a name of a place, person or thing that makes no sense to you?
