How much money do you pay for heating ?

Fontaine
The whole of my bill from Shell Energy averages around £55 a month, slightly more in winter, less in summer.
However, they owe me more than £300 due to a cockup they made, so I am very lucky to only be paying £35 a month and count myself lucky not to be in fuel poverty as many of my friends are.

Do you live in a high crime area?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
According to www.nice areas.co.uk I live in an area of ‘deprived blue-collar terraces’* and the crime rate is indeed above average, but house prices are lower, for obvious reasons!
*Called ‘row houses’ in America, where ‘terrace’ has a different meaning.

What is your favorite treat on Halloween? 🎃 🍬 🍫 🍭 😇

redoasis2017’s Profile Photo★ ☮ ♫ ʎɐɯɯo⊥ snoıɔɐuǝ⊥™ ▩ ♚ ☻
There was once a Halloween factory, whose manager became worried that they only had one dracula maker and needed another.
So he hired another Dracula maker, put them both together, and said:
‘We’re under pressure to get this order done. Both of you need to make every second count’.

Are you guys looking forward to the winter blues and the long grey winter ? Done any Christmas shopping yet ? 😂

Peaches4U95412’s Profile PhotoPeaches4U
I’ve published my 2024 calendar and a photobook of my niece, and bought a book about the history of Morocco for my cousin (who I’m going to Morocco with in December).
That’s all the Christmas shopping I need to do apart from food as I don’t but extravagant things.
I’m ignoring the weather and went jogging tonight. I was going with two colleagues from a running group at work when the rain started. I was going to suggest that we call it off but one (whom you’d expect it from) was already leaving, and had decided not to jog and another (whom you’d also expect it from) was already in his gear.
Thinking it would be cowardly to leave him to go alone, I went jogging too and it went surprisingly well!
As to winter, what I look forward to is https://www.mountainsonstage.com/ in December!

Do you celebrate bonfire night?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
I didn’t for years because I had a dog who was scared of fireworks, so I’d go to some hidden away corner like Shropshire or Wales every 5 November.
Now the dog has died, I still don’t enjoy fireworks (never really have) but I’m taking niece to Bedford rugby club fireworks so hope she likes that.

In England the national living wage is going up to 12£ next year if you are from England are you happy about this?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
I’m made up about getting a pay rise, though I think the minimum wage is only going up to £11.16?
The Tories have, rather sneakily, rebranded the minimum wage the National Living Wage in the hope that it will be confused with the Living Wage, which is higher but not legally required (though some employers pay all their workers over the Living Wage).

What are your plans this weekend?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
Going to see this at Lichfield Cathedral.
https://my-earth.org/about/
And the museums in Lichfield.
On Sunday I’m taking my friend training for a long distance walk we’re doing next year, as I’ve done it before but he hasn’t, so I’m showing him the way. Starting with the last stretch as it seems much worse than it is, so it will be good to see that it’s not bad as you’d think.

What meal could you eat for the rest of your life?

BlackVeilBrides1300’s Profile PhotoClonk
My last meal would be this, if I were on death row.
Leek & potato soup and chatwin’s bread
Sunday dinner (lamb) of the kind my Nan used to make.
Sticky toffee pudding & cream (better than ice cream imo).
I’d go to the scaffold screaming defiance and eating a bag of herbal tablets.
