Could you describe a generic approach to dialing in a good heavy rhythm tone that will translate to any amp sim?

I would do it exactly as in the analog world: overdrive->amp->cab, pick the ones that sound best to my ears and from there tweak to taste.

I can only afford one expensive guitar for the next few years (still in school), should I get a JP12 7 or a custom DC800? Practically, the JP12 may be better but its one string less and I kind of hate the color, the DC800 doesn't come with a Piezo or trem though

I guess only you can choose what's best in the end for your needs :) you've already pointed out the differences, up to you which one suits best your preferences.

Omfg I'm in love with your accent like when you say zweep picking or Zlayer <3

I actually don't notice that difference at all between the hard and soft S, that's how we pronounce them in italy and didn't even think someone pronounced them differently, at least to my ears the difference is close to none :)

Which DAW are you using? And what effects are you using in the DAW (EQ, compressor, etc...?) on your guitar track? Sorry for my bad english dude

I'm one of the very few who uses Ableton and I'm very at home with it. If I'd ever change to another DAW it would be ProTools since it's the standard. I also like Logic 10 a lot.
Regarding effects, if it's rhythm guitar no effects at all, just small EQ if needed. If it's clean or lead I will add parallel delay and reverb (two separate tracks), a bit of compression, usually more on cleans than leads. On leads, sometimes more aggressive EQ is needed to make them cut in a full-mix.

Ciao Francesco! Per caso, esiste una misura del Fretwrap che vada bene sia per 6 che per 7 corde? So che esiste il sampler pack, ma prenderei un pack con altre due persone. Grazie!

Is it just me or do you see this trend of chasing amps/amp sims, certain brands of pickups, extended range guitars, worshiping custom guitars etc within the metal community (or maybe the djent scene)? I'm not innocent tbh haha. Any suggestion for young musicians for making quality music? Thanks :)

Years ago I barely cared about the mix, I was just listening to the overall vibe and sonic-wall that a song had to offer. But with time and experience my ears also evolved and then the "tone-research" started, first with pickup swapping, then different guitars, different amps etc.
It's in the nature of every musician to "please their ears" searching for a better or just different sound that satisfies them.
There are plenty of awesome manufacturer regarding amps, pickups, guitars etc. but if there's a trend, it's usually because:
1 - they are indeed that good
2 - big names play them (because they're that good) and people get interested
Also this means there will be many youngsters who've probably never tried anything regarding certain brands but will still swear by them, but hey I did far worse stuff in my teens :)

What's your favorite bridge? Do you like the tune-o-matics?

Hipshot and Schaller Hannes are my favourites tone-wise. I generally don't like TOMs but the recessed one on my KxK works just fine, I'm not that picky regarding bridges. I'd love to have an Evertune-equipped guitar for the tuning stability of course.
regarding trem bridges, Edge and Lo Pro Edge are my favs.

How would a Nailbomb fare against Cold Sweat in neck position?

Nailbomb would have more character, more ice-picky attack during notes and would sound more "woody". You can read my Cold Sweat neck description down in the recent answers

I'm looking for a BKP that can do melodeath riffage, as well as leads and cleans. I've got a RG3XXV and I'm using a EVHIII 50 watt. I've got a DimarzDeactivator(which is great for riffs, but sucks for leads imo), and I've tried and enjoy the Dimarzio D-sonic. Suggestions?

I think you'd love the ceramic Nailbomb! Or even the Black Hawk if you want a more saturated, low mid tone.

I'm very new to sweeping, do you start practicing full fretboard sweeps first or just 3 strings

Always start from the most simple movement you can think of, do it one step at a time from the basics to advanced exercises. Regarding sweep picking, 2 strings is the basic!

if i want to change tuning on an evertune bridge, would i just do it normally and it would stay in tune?

You have to reset the guitar to change the tuning, I'm sure there are vids around explaining it

My RGA8 rejected all BKP organ transplants, what else do you recommend?

BKPs with cheap active-sized covers, or active-sized Lundgrens, or active-sized Duncans.

how would you compare the aftermath neck to the cold sweat neck? thanks, it will be in a guitar with a korina body.

Cold Sweat neck is more "shreddy", can nail modern tones a la Broderick, Petrucci etc. It's bright and balanced. Aftermath neck is warmer, fuller, very juicy neck pickup. Perfect choice if you want a "singing Periphery" lead tone. It's not among my favourites though.

How would 7 string blackhawks sound in a mahogany body with maple neck and ebony fretboard?

The ceramic version would sound fuckin brutal!

Have you tried the hs series of monitors from Yamaha? If so what is your opinion on them?

Good monitors, but I still prefer KRK RP5s as a starting point.

Is it a better idea to make an intro track for an album or just make your catchiest song the first song?

As long as it's something cool and catches the listener's attention, anything goes. Our album will have an intro btw
