Hey FF ! I know how to "shred" but only on songs i've learned, for ex, on the Boo 'Machine' solo, after the sweep, there a little shred. I master it. Now when I want to noodle around, I don't really know which notes to hit when I shred. I've never learned theory so, do you know how i could improve ?

Use your ears: if a note sounds good in context, it's good :) if it doesn't, it's not! Ear training and theory knowledge help but in the end it's just that.
If the question is more related on what to play and you feel out of ideas, learn some licks and re-work them, experiment with all the techniques and blend them.

Music man Jp7 mystic dream or mayones regius 7 ? I know you prefer music man but be as objective as you can be

You answered it yourself already :) Mayones is pretty good, I just prefer EBMM.

Can you record the Fermented Offal Discharge solo? :D

Yes, if I had the time to learn it all since it's fuckin long haha :) excellent solo, love me some Necro!

Hi! I'd love to start home recording, should I buy something like a POD or is it better to invest in an actual tube amp+mic+audio interface? The opinions about the POD are becoming more and more conflicting.

Pod, easy choice!

do you like trivium?

never cared too much about them but actually saw them supporting Slayer some years ago and OH FUCK they are mind blowing live!

Hey man! I recently got an RG8 and I think the pickups suck, I play a lot of mathcore stuff (think Danza/glass cloud) mainly in Drop E. What pickups do you recommend? I just want clarity in all 8 strings, no mud, and really tight. Fluid sounding leads too. Anything in mind?

You're right, stock RG8 pickups are atrocious. I definitely recommend Aftermaths!

Hi Francesco! i was wondering if you have any advice on how to stay calm when playing in live? PD: sorry for the english :P

If you make a mistake, 99% of the time nobody notices except you! Just provide a good show regardless of the performance itself, of course you have to be tight but it's better to have a bit of connection with people rather than striving for the perfect performance.
Warm up properly and the more you get used to perform, the less "stage anxiety" you'll have :)

since i saw you plaing a 8 string here it goes ..ibanez rga 8 or a carvin 8 string pro´s and con´s im leaving the 7 strings so wich one is more easy to play

Carvin, not even close.

What do you think of Genelec speakers?

They're the standard on many TV channels, that being said no matter how clear they sound, they're fuckin ugly :)

Andy James vs Jeff Loomis is similar to Ferrari vs Lamborghini???? Love them both, Just a strange comparison

Yngwie is Ferrari, Rusty Cooley is Lambo :)

can you please describe the difference between the ceramic nailbomb and the ceramic blackhawk ? I want to buy one these and can't decide

Already described the difference lots of times, just scroll down the answers :)

I like your channel, hope you are sill making videos, cheers

Thanks, of course i am! When I'm not putting videos out, I'm just working on music or new vidz :)

Do you regularly practice improvising or does your improvisation ideas usually just come from the solos you've been previously written? Also when songwriting is there certain conditions (parts, riff styles etc) that drive you to put on a lead guitar part or is it really just feeling-driven? Thx

I don't regularly improvise, actually I'm not that good at it, should definitely put more time on it although as of late I'm enjoying groovin' on some Martin Miller backing tracks :)
To write solos I usually just play along with the backing track on and on until something cool comes out, then I start tweaking and perfecting it. Also spend a very good amount on connecting the parts properly: it's not pleasing to hear a slow part followed by nonsense shred out of nowhere, there has to be a progression that connects them otherwise it doesn't flow as a whole.

Do you need the knowledge of music theory to be a good transcriber?

To just write tabs, not much but you need an excellent ear to accurately perceive what's going on, transition between notes, which string is been played etc. Also you need a solid knowledge of time subdivision. The number of wrong tabs online is horrorific!
To write actual music notation, yes you definitely need to have a fair knowledge of theory and music signs.

Top albums of 2013? Any genre! :)

In no particular order I really enjoyed Hypocrisy, Nero Di Marte, Deeds Of Flesh, Leprous, The Modern Age Slavery, Nails, The Secret, Deafheaven, Extol, Suffocation, Carcass, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Rivers Of Nihil.
Still have to listen to new PTH, Ihsahn, Glass Cloud, Haken, The Aristocrats, Vildhjiarta and Vulture Industries though, hopefully will soon :)
Outside of Metal, Plini takes the crown, no contest.
