Hi, Francesco. Hope you're doing well, mate. Any updates on the release date of the Abiogenesis video?

I'm good thanks :) september! We're taking the summer to finalize the mix, work on merch, prepare some gigs for this fall and other minor stuff. Video is "ready already" but summer is definitely not the best time to release stuff, so you'll have to wait a liiiittle more :)

Yo dude, i'm just curious, what do you think about Devin Townsend? You're great, i'm in love with your YouTube videos, i'll follow your project "Abiogenesis" for sure :D

He's the Frank Zappa of Metal. Incredibly prolific genius!

Hi Francesco, how do you deal with trolls asking stupid questions? I get sooo many people ask me stupid questions on my ask.fm.

Delete and move on, easy :) just think it's stupid people with too much time on their fingers, and are not worthy of your precious time.

Hi fran! I have a jackson pro dka 7, 26.5 scale, alder body, maple neck, maple fretboard, dimarzio d-activator pups... I've noticed that even if I play in drop g#, higher strings seems to be very ice-picky sounding, is this a pups problem? Or something else? Thanks in advance

This problem is usually associated with longer scale guitars, which is your case. The fact your guitar is alder+maple doesn't help, as they're bright sounding woods. I'd suggest:
- use a thicker string gauge
- change pickups
- change your gear settings accordingly
- use a thicker pick
The issue you have is exactly why I prefer mahogany guitars with regular scale lenght. Hope my suggestions help anyway :) ps: stop playing in drop Ab!

Hi,Francesco:) Does the jp koa you own feels/plays better than the jp12 you previously owned? i'm within that price range, just thinking about whether the koa is just aesthetically better. like to know the difference, big thanks man!!

All JPs are super comfy, they all play really well. My koa definitely sounds better than all the other JPs I've had, that's for sure

How're your Summer holidays looking...?

Almost no holidays, just lots of lessons, planning video release/merch and other Abio related stuff, and finishing my studio build :)

for quad track, what would sound best? 6505 L100%, L75% and dual rect R100%, R75%, or 6505 L100% dual rect L75% ,and Dual rect R100%, 6505 R75%

Try it and see for yourself what you like best :) It always depends man, too vague for a safe answer. What genre? What cab? What part of the song?
Generally speaking, dual tracking is enough for technical Metal, but if you want to add some "wall of sound" effect during choruses, breakdowns or bigger sounding parts, quad track is good. Pan amount depends, I personally prefer 100% on all four takes but some people do 80%, it really depends.
Also I personally prefer two amps on both sides, which is your second option. Sound might be a bit too different from left to right with the first option, but again, try it and decide!

Hi Francesco, I'm hoping to order a Carvin in a few months, can't decide on a satin or tung oil finish for the neck. I've heard good and bad about both. Which would you recommend? Thanks

I like both! If you're going for a natural look, definitely tung oil (lets the wood "breathe" a bit more). If you want to apply color, satin is the way.

Hi Francesco, what was your first electric guitar?

Just a cheap ass Squier Stratocaster, sold it long ago. Although I still have my very first guitar, an incredibly shitty classical that was buried somewhere in my basement for 10+ years.
Just recently, since I was moving house, I found it again and decided to take it to my tech for a proper restoration :) hopefully it's still able to do a note or two haha

Ciao Francesco! I Have a Line 6 Spidervalve MkII and got myself a '93 RG550. I want it to be more versatile. Can you recommend me a HSH Pickup Set that could do nice split sounds and some rock/metal/lead sounds as well? Best Regards from Germany, eager to hear some new Abiogenisis!

I would recommend alnico Nailbomb/Rebel Yell/Holy Diver in the bridge and Painkiller/VHII in the neck :)

Hey man, we've heard a few snippets of different Abiogenesis songs so far, so is the new music video going to feature any of these previous parts that we've heard before? Or is it going to be completely unheard material?

Completely unheard I think :)

Do you offer mixing and mastering services? Or just guitar lessons? Cheers mate!

Apart from guitar lessons, some of the stuff I teach is mixing, mastering, preset building, drum programming, songwriting, music theory and other stuff - regarding other services, for now what I offer is custom presets, reamping, or recording at my studio.
I don't do mixing/mastering, yet :) planning to offer these towards the end of this year.

I've been playing for over a year now and I see progress in my playing (been playing ages ago aswell). I have a problem choosing between getting the Axe FX 2 or a new guitar in a similar price range. What is the best option? I own a Boss GT-10 which gives me a resonable good tone but not top notch

No guitar will give you the amount of versatility and inspiration that the Axe Fx provides. Go with the Axe II :)

hey , just want to know what tuning you are using ? any 8 string guitar song will be in the new album ? thanks

We're mainly using drop A, the new album will basically be all in drop A tuning. The planned release after the album will be 8 string in drop E and maybe even something for 6 strings :)

Hey, Francesco! Just out of curiosity, what are some of your favorite Axe FX II amp models?

Generally speaking, the 5150 models (especially the 5153) for rhythm, Marshall on steroid models for leads (especially HBE), Shiver Clean for cleans :)

Hey there! Different speakers in a 2x12 (let's say V30 and Greenback). Yay or nay? Would it sound balanced?

I personally prefer different speakers in a 4x12 (X pattern), but even on 2x12s it's really good. My favourite combinations are V30+Lynchback or V30+K100 :)

Hey Francesco, sometimes I feel like I don't want to play guitar but I really like playing, I guess I'm not as inspired as I was before :( What do you suggest to feel that "spark" again?

Some things that work for me are just don't play and enjoy life with friends, go out eat something or at the cinema, or for a walk somewhere nice.
Music-wise, trash what you're listening to and search for something completely different! Then embrace the guitar and it will hopefully feel inspiring again.
Also search for new tones and try different tunings, that also helps a lot!

Hi Francesco! I just want to give you an internet High Five! and tell you that you are one of my favorite guitar players! have a great day! =]

Thanks dude! :)

Hi, Francesco I need your help. I have a guitar ESP LTD AW-7 which comes with D activators. This guitar sounds freaking bass-y, I don't like the sound of it. The woods are mahogany wings, maple neck through, ebony fingerboard. Could you please recommend pickups which would lighten up the tone? Thanx

Aftermath or even Painkiller would be a very good choice there.

Hey! What scales would you reccomend learning for drop tunings? Say if i was playing in drop D, for example..

Almost everything you need to know is within the major scale. It's how you play those notes that makes the difference :)
