You had recently stated that you were going to buy new studio monitors and some new headphones.. What kind exactly?

Headphones I think Sennheiser HD650 as a second reference for mixing, and for vocal tracking Sony MDR7506, comfortable for the performer and no bleed into the microphone.
Regarding monitors, most likely Event Opals but I'll wait NAMM to see if something new/better is coming.

What do you GAS for now?

Nothing in particular, I still need to purchase lots of studio stuff like a midi keyboard, new desk with rack spaces, couple headphones, a new pre for vocals/guitars/bass and new monitors. There's a long way to go haha :)

You still go on SS?

I'm subscribed to the main subforums to receive daily emails on what's new, if I find new interesting topics I visit it otherwise I don't as much as I used to.

What is the most you've spent on software?

800 euros or something like that on East West Complete Composers Collection

Two recording stuff questions:I'm planning to buy a macbook pro in leasing, so I taught that I could buy pro logic too. but they told me that it's not possible 'cause it's not in production anymore. WAT. Do you know anything about it? I mean, WTF?! Would you use the last Ableton, instead? thx alot

Logic Pro X just came out and of course you can buy it.

what do you think about Michael Keene's and James Malone's washburn?

Not familiar with James' one but Michael's one rules!

Do you like Cannibal Corpse?

General answer when somebody asks me if I like X band: it's hard for me to not like something, either I'm not picky at all or I just find something good in everything, at least for my tastes.

opinion on the RGA-321f ?and the RGA-121 ?

Never been a fan of the RGA's aesthetics but I'm sure these (expecially the 121) are solid models. Just nothing special imho!

What's your orange ibanez with the really thin body? Hows it compare to the others?

It's a '92 FGM100 Frank Gambale signature in Pink Salmon finish, it's like a slightly different S version.
I find the RG bodies a bit more "direct" and in your face, while this one is surely warmer, more "soulful" and plenty of character when coil-splitted.

do you like symphony x ?

I do, love and own lots of their albums. Romeo is probably the guitarist that has impressed me the most live, he does ALIEN stuff without even caring or watching :)

For a recording computer, do you lean towards a mac more than a custom pc?

Both can provide equal results. That being said, I'm a Mac guy and don't want to use PCs and all their hassles again for the rest of my life :)

can you find a page that explains midi simply? like what it is and stuff. the wikipedia page is kind of too advanced for me

Midi is a "signal", a trigger that gets converted into audio by a certain software. It mainly contains two informations: note and velocity.
Note is where you find it on the piano roll, and might correspond not only to the same note on the audio software but also to a "sound" that gets triggered when you hit that note, for example C1 and D1 are usually kick and snare on many drum softwares.
Velocity is how hard you hit that particular note, and this implies midi also contains dynamics infos to better convert the signal into "human-like" performance.
That's it I guess :)

Can you recommend me a synth software that doesn't require a keyboard input? Something you can just program?

You can program anything you want, midi is midi!

Do you listen to tribal, ethnic or cultural music like africa drums?

no, but I could enjoy it just as much as any other kinds of music

are polyrhythms hard for you or do they come natural

Very natural, but I often have a hard time teaching them to students since they don't "feel" them.

When I listen to extreme metal for a long time and then listen to classic rock again, it sounds so "old" and "bland" :( does this happen to you, maybe with other genres?

No it doesn't happen to me, it just sounds different but in the end it's all music :)

Do you like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who ?

Yes but again, never listened to them that much. Need to fill the gap :)

What is the best synth software, or one you recommend?

Omnisphere. Stuff from Native Instruments like Absynth and Massive is also very cool, other excellent ones are Sylenth1, U-He Diva, Alchemy etc.

Is there something wrong if i tap with my index instead middle finger?

Not at all, actually the best tappers I know do it with their index: Michael Romeo, Simone Mularoni etc.
I do it with my middle finger but I'm definitely not as good as them :) each to his own!

I thought professionals hire real people for choir parts, maybe not orchestras though?

Most of the time it's just not possible, and that's where Symphonic Choirs comes handy.

Maybe a big question but why does 4/4 time signature feel so natural to our ears? As opposed to 5/4 etc.

Because every mainstream/radio/pop song is in 4/4. If you were used to hear only Waltz, then your ears would be at home with 3/4 and 4/4 would be more weird.
5/4 can still sound very catchy and natural, just hear the Mission Impossible theme or Guthrie Govan's Fives :)

Do you have any experience with East West Quantum Leap software like Symphonic Orchestras or Symphonic Choirs? Anyone you know use them?

Yes I do and they absolutely own. Pretty much everyone doing symphonic/orchestral/soundtrack stuff at a professional level uses them. Wintersun, 7 Horns 7 Eyes and Xerath use them and I bet Fleshgod too.
