Is it annoying that people don't ask you any proper questions, just the same question over and over and over and over again? Do you think it's strange that so many people can't decide on their own pickups or guitar without someone to hold their hand?

No it's not annoying at all, I'm happy to help because at some point I was very young and inexperienced too. Sometimes though I just want people to open their eyes on what TRULY matters, which is definitely not a pickup choice :)

Hi fra, I have a prs torrero and want to change the active emgs to either dimebuckers , dimarzio Titan or lace beardcombers, I mostly use that axe for jamming w the boys on thrash/cover songs tuned to E, what do u think thx!!

I personally think that guitar is BEGGING for Nailbombs (ceramic bridge), it would be perrrrfekt for what you want.

What 6 string guitar and pickups would you recommend for me to check out that is under $1500 for a sound that is nice and saturated, but with defined chord clarity and can handle clean jazzy & ambient stuff? Thanks!

With your budget you can spec yourself a Carvin with exactly the woods and aesthetics you want, also add a BKP Juggernaut set and you'll be set. I'm sure you can even go under 1500$ with that :)

Does pickups really affect the tone THAT MUCH? Or is it just a hype created by guitarists like Misha Mansoor and others who bring their sig pups in market?

Everything affects tone, pickups too. How much? Change pickups in your guitar and you'll be the judge :)

Favorite amp model on the axe fx 2 for leads and rhythm??

Rhythm: 5153 Red (EVH 5150III third channel), Lead it depends but the BE/HBE (Friedman Hairy Brown Eye) models are insane.

Is there an Ibanez 7 string that would be the equivalent of en early 90's RG 6? As in similar quality (MIJ) as the 6 and can be found used for quite cheap. I already have a late 80s RG, so I'm basically looking at something like it, just a 7. Any particular models I should look for? Cheers.

The UV7BK, UV7PWH and UV777GR models are exactly what you say, but they're not that cheap. Another good one (and cheaper) would be the RG7620 but it doesn't have the early '90s vibe.

where in the signal chain does that awesome mid-range grind come from in that clip you put up testing the Hesu cab? Is it the pickups, the amp voicing, the amp eq...etc?

Generally speaking, GOOD tone = good riff, good hands, good take, good guitar with good setup/intonation, good pickups, good pick, fresh strings, good cables, good amp/gear, good cab, good microphone(s), good microphone placement, good preamp, good interface. EVERYTHING matters :)
Ps: that sample was just a compressed iphone in-room video, so I wouldn't judge based on that one. Real comparison between Hesu and Mesa cabs incoming though!

Hey Francesco, you seem to know an awful lot about tonewoods, how did you acquire such knowledge?

Playing as many guitars as possible, speaking with luthiers that know their stuff and discerning good infos from bullshit on teh interwebz

Hey, i was awed by your playing, great phrasing! btw my band is about to record debut album and have a spot for some guest solo. Do you interested to be the one? you can hear http://bit.ly/1gTL3EI the solo starts at 2:40. it would be an honor have your name in our album. thx \m/

Thanks for taking me into consideration, please message me privately on Facebook to discuss about it :)

What was the turnaround time like on your Carvin?

Less than two months. I don't know of any other company with such a short building time, on top of that they almosy never delay an order and are extremely consistent. That's one of the major reasons I endorse them :)

What are your thoughts on RAN guitars? Specially on their FT model. They seem to be really good for the price!

They are good indeed, just be careful about waiting times since they can be much longer than what you originally might get told.

hey dude! I've been saving up for about a year to get a 7 string. I have a budget of around $1500 max. I was kinda thinking about the steve vai premium universe. Although Im wondering if it it be worth it to wait even longer(6-8 months) and get the music man jp 7 string. Could you compare the two an

It boggles my mind why people would spend that amount of money on an (although good) Indonesian made production guitar, which in your case is actually a reissue of a much better Japanese model (better hardware, better wood quality).
For 1500$ you can buy yourself a custom made in the US Carvin 7 string, and not even a basic model but lots of giggles too. There is NO comparison between the two.
