For lead tones, what kind of compression settings would you recommend if I'm going DI and using lepou amp sims?

When I was talking about compression I was implying a compressor peda within the Axe 2l, not a studio compressor plugin, so I honestly have no idea. Use your ears!

I can't thank you enough for answering all of my technical questions! It's saved me like two dozen potential forum posts. Thanks a lot bro, hopefully we can chat in private sometime when I get better.

you're welcome :)

Me too man, I use Elixir exclusively now! Some of my less played guitars have had them for like two years and they never get rusty. I used to use D'Addarios but intense practice makes them go rusty in a week. Same for you?

Same, but they are the best ones for recording.

The 7 string JPs have string gauges: 9-11-16-24-32-42-52. Can I add a string set 10-13-17-26-36-46-56 without a resetup?

You'll probably need a re-setup, bridge plate will be either inclined or declined (needs to be parallel to body). If you can block it in some way during the string change and are lucky, you won't need a re-setup.

Have you ever tried Elixir strings?

I use them always! Maybe not the best sounding strings although very close (D'Addarios are the best imho), but actually my favourites. They just last forever and keep their tone intact, it's mandatory for my Lo Pro Edge equipped guitars.

Have you ever tried a guitar synthesizer?

A guitar VST you mean? Yea there's plenty of them, but of course playing the real thing is always better.

Do you have lots of guitars stores where you live or do you buy online

Always online and from other countries as well, stuff is mad expensive here.

Trovi che la Petrucci (la jp12 in particolare) sia uno strumento versatile?

Certo, ha anche il piezo! I pickup non sono granchè versatili secondo me peró

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSPc8oU7YIY is this 1 true m8?

Not at all. I mean, there are some utterly tacky ignorant fucks that act like that in Italy (which you would compare to american rednecks) but very rare. Although a friend of mine is travelling from London to Paris and Berlin and all italians he's met during the trip are like that. Probably the worst part of Italy comes out in foreign countries haha

How long have you been playing guitar and how old where you when you started ?

Read answer below! Btw I started at 13yo and have been playing for 12 years but was serious about it only since 2009.

How many hours of guitar do you play per day?

How many hours do you play? How many years have you been playing? How fast can you pick? How thick is your gauge? Which scales do you use?
All of this is totally irrelevant. Never focus on how much, it's HOW you spend your practice time, HOW you play, HOW you use the tools available that makes the difference. Do what feels right to you, which is most likely different from what works for me. Quality > quantity, always!

Hey man will you suggest me a good pickups for my guitar (Bridge pickups) which is not too costly maybe 100$ or something? :)

Too vague!

Hi Francesco! Can you tell me some excellent Funk stuff to listen to? I would love to know more about this kind of music :) Many thanks!

Ah I honestly don't have much knowledge about it except the "Freak Out" and "Daddy Cool" bands that were once the big thing, but I do think funky guitar rhythms are excellent exercises for the right hand, they help immensely on staying tight with the groove and relaxed at the same time

Would programming Trillian be a lot more tedious than drums if you didn't tab it out?

I don't use Trillian as a real bass replacer, that being said it would be much easier if you just tabbed it out and export to midi.

What do you do in your free time aside from music?

Don't have much time since I also work as a graphic designer, but when I do I love photography and like to fiddle with video as well, go to the cinema a lot, often go out with friends eating. I love animals and walks with a good view :)
I used to work out a lot, was like 10 pounds heavier but then guitar/music became the priority and along with work I'm not able to do it anymore, I'd love to return very soon though.
I'm still unbeatable at tennis table though hahaha :)

Hey Francesco, how is it that you swap your volume knob with a BKP 550K pot? what difference does it make?

Retains a liiiittle bit more high frequencies and open-ness. I find 1M too much but 550k is perfect

You do watch any North American sports teams like NBA, NHL, NFL?

I've played basketball for 10 years so from time to time I follow NBA, although don't care about hockey and NFL makes me think about drunk rednecks yelling

You said earlier that you would like a guitar with no pots and just a kill switch and that you think the full guitar signal should always be fed to the amp. Does that mean you never use your volume knob to clean up?

I surely use it from time to time, but never on actual recordings. If you think your signal is too hot, either lower the gain or lower the pickup's height.
