In your FAQ #3 you recommend having a separate audio interface along with a unit like Axefx/POD. I currently have a POD HD which I plug in directly via USB to my computer for recording. What are the benefits of having a separate interface, or why do you recommend it instead of plugging in directly?

You can of course plug the Pod/Axe Fx directly, no prob with that. On official recordings I prefer to use a dedicated DI Box to capture the dry sound, therefore it would be guitar->DI Box-> thru output to amp/pod/axe and main output to audio interface, to capture the dry tone (to be then reamped).

what do you think about 28" scale neck for soloing ?

nay, because of the scale length the sound of the higher strings would be thin and shrill.

MONKEY TESTICLES! Hope that got you're attention haha. I've been back forth in which company of custom electric guitars I want to invest in. The battle for me is between Daemoness and Skervesen 7 string guitars. Any preference or opinion? Thanks! I appreciate the time!

You need to take time into consideration, and waiting 2 years or more for a Daemoness, although fantastic, is not a wise idea. I'm not even sure if he takes orders right now, so...if you're between these two, then Skerv would be my choice given the time turnaround. Believe me waiting 2+ years on an instrument is not cool at all and can fuck your schedule up.

Hey Fran was watching some Acoustic stuff and had an idea would it be possible to get a decent recording of an acoustic electric direct line into DAW through the axe fx?

definitely! Axe Fx does miracles :)

for 8 strings guitar which scale length you prefer ?

27" is where it's at. Keeps the low E tight enough and at the same time higher notes are not too shrill and thin-sounding.

On your lesson via skype, how does the guitars sounds ? Does the amp (real or sim) cover the voice ? etc.. Can you hear the other if you and your student play at the same times ? thx

Of course there's time to play and time to talk, it works just like a normal face-to-face lesson and it's super easy to adapt.

I would love to see your lessons in some sort of a video pack that we can pay to download :)

Yea it's definitely something that I'm doing later this year, there will be a webstore in which you can purchase & download video lessons/tabs etc. :)

Hey, My friends and I are trying to pick a single for our album. Problem is it would be very difficult to find one song that'll represent it since its very diverse. How would you go about picking a song? Thanks

Pick one that captures the listener's attention immediately with something very cool. Most people click play and if it's not that interesting at the very beginning, they just close and move on.
Pick a song that contains a part that is easy to sing along with, or that people can remember easily. Something catchy, basically. Maybe pick something that has a more simple structure but still represents a big part of your sound. Not something too long or structurally complex.
And most definitely pick something that sounds more like you, not resembling any of your influences or more well-known bands.

Any experience with some ibanez SA series? Cheers!

Never tried one but I'm sure they are as solid as other similarly priced RGs and S from Ibby.

do you pronounce your name phonetically as Franchesco?

correct! also with the hard "R" and a final "oh", not "ou" :)

can you recommned any books or instructional videos(i prefer books) that accompanies the different lessons you offer as you listed below?

some of my fav books are Harmony & Theory and Speed Mechanics :)

Francesco, I've been saving up to buy the EBMM JP7 BFR Koa do you think it's worth the price or should I get the JP12 and save some money?

They're both very good and I don't think the slight tonal difference is worth the huge price gap. I suggest to search Bali Burst JP12s, I think these are the best ones overall, since they have full mahogany body and cost less than the Koa.

Presonus AudioBox 22VSL vs Apogee One vs Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 vs M-Audio M-Track Quad????

between these, Apogee One

I'm getting a nice deal on an Ibanez RGA321, which is mahogany body, maple top & neck. Which is the most versatile BKP combination/set i could get? I play in standard E and drop D, i would like to go from Plini's clean and semi-distorted tones to like Intervals high gain stuff, thanks!! :D

I want to clarify a huge aspect: no pickup will make you sound like Plini/Intervals/whatever, it's more of a performance/songwriting thing. People get confused about this a lot. It's easy to say "I want to sound like this and that" but there's WAY more behind it than just a pickup.
That being said, sounds like you want a Juggernaut set so that's my choice!

In FAQ #4, you mention Quality>Quantity. How would you know if the practice you are doing is quality ? Thank you for your time :)

Focus on doing basic movements, experiment slightly different postures and do lots of trial and error to find something that works for you and sounds good.
Record yourself and then focus on listening and criticizing your performance, without having to do it while you play.
Having someone telling you the "right" exercises and postures helps a lot too ofc.

Hey Francesco, I love your style of playing! I'm in the process of writing a song and I would love to feature you on it as a guest soloist! If you're interested, what's the best way to contact you about more details?

Just message me on FB! Thanks :)
