In the writing process (in particular in modern and technical styles) how much importance is to give to instinct and how much in theory and chords progressions construction?

I cannot speak for anyone since to each his own, but I never ever used theory to write riffs, solos or ideas.
I just know what kind of mood I want to obtain in a certain part and try to achieve it with my fingers.
I do know theory but for me it's an "after the fact" tool that helps me know why something sounds the way it does (happy/sad/exotic/outside/moody/dreamy/evil etc).

If you had 10 different humbuckers that looked identical inserted into 10 identical guitars, to what extent could you identify each one?

This is one of those unrealistically happening and unpredictable things, how could I know :)
Realistically speaking, if I had 10 different BKPs in the same guitar and hear the same recording with each one of them, to a certain extent I could tell you which is which if I have a list.

Hi I've heard that you use some synths to enhance the guitars in the mix, my question is, what's your approach on getting the synth sound for this purpose? Tone wise and eq wise? Thank you

Yes we use quite a lot of synth stuff, not to enhance guitars only but to give everything more "air and vibe".
I just play various synths sounds along with the mix and see if they add something I like or not, then save the sounds I like the most, level them together and obtain something more complex. Well it actually goes way more in deep than this but the basic concept is just that.
Watch out next weeks for a "guitar+synth" stem version of our second teaser to get more what it's about :)

Do you think that POD HD PRO + Recabinet will be closer in quality to a axe fx-ii? Because I know that pod impulses aren't that good,

No it won't be close, impulse is a big part of the chain for sure but amp modeling gives you the overall feeling and vibe while you play, and Pod just doesn't compare in this field, at least on high gain rhythm stuff. I'd recommend MixIR2 or LeCab instead of Recabinet though

Hey Fran, what wood combo/construction and pickups would you recommend for a modern super shred tone that is not ice-picky on the top and is tight in the bottom while having a mid range punch that really cuts through the mix? Loads of reverb would need to be handled well also.

I'd say alder body, bolt-on maple neck with maple fingerboard, Juggernaut bridge and Cold Sweat neck. You're welcome :)

Hey Dude!! have you ever gone though any guitar books? which did you benefit the most out of? or what were your favorites? Thanks for all the answers dude ive gained a lot of great knowledge that i wouldn't usually be able to obtain so easily... much <3

I've never completely read and practised all the exercises on guitar books, but I did pick up a few ones here and there. Off the top of my head the best ones are Troy Stetina's Speed Mechanics and various stuff from Frank Gambale.
I personally prefer DVDs and the little tab books that come with them, but again I never really spent doing more than 10-20% of the exercises there, lazy haha

Tech Death and SD Pegasus, would this relationship last? God...asking you questions about pickups is becoming a drug for everyone.

No prob, happy to help :) I personally think Aftermath is THE Tech-Death pickup, but Pegasus is obviously very good. I think it's more of a "Hunted Shores" style one though, a bit warmer but still plenty tight.

A while ago I bought an Ultra. Shortly after, 10 months or so along came the Axe 2. I want to upgrade but I'm afraid a new axe might come in a similar time frame. Thoughts? Should I just wait or upgrade now? Thanks.

Definitely upgrade, I think the Axe 2 has and will have a lot to offer for the next year or two. Hell, even the Ultra still kicks serious ass!

BKP Blackhawk or ceramic Nailbomb ? Can you describe their differences, pros and cons etc..and also which one is more versatile ? You are an amazing player btw

Ceramic Blackhawk will be more saturated, higher perceived output, more lows and firmer low end, a bit more compressed, more modern voicing. Although more compressed it's definitely very versatile, I'd say the most versatile high output pickup I've tried. Excels at leads, cleans and fusion-ish stuff.
Ceramic Nailbomb will be tighter (imho), more classic voicing, "less growl but more roar" if you know what I mean. Less output, more high end, it's not a mid-centric pickup but neither the ceramic BH is. Just very different voicings. Alnico Nailbomb is more versatile than the ceramic one.
Between BH and Nailbomb I prefer Nailbomb, but that's just my taste :)

I think the Juggernaut just sounds like a regular pickup and is aimed towards gear heads who are in love with Periphery, am I dumb

Not dumb, but not correct at all either. Juggernaut is a pickup that embodies both ceramic and alnico magnets, that by itself makes it unique. And no, it's been built to be tight but warm and musical so it excels on rhythms, leads and cleans equally, definitely not for Periphery sound only.
On a side note, Axe Fx and actual technique mean way more than pickups for Periphery's tone imho.

What do you think could be a good alternative to the Aftermath to put in a RGA7?

Painkiller! Although depends on genre, tuning, tonal preferences.

juggernaut by Misha or titan by Jake? what do you prefer if you want buy one of em? for me I'll go straight to the Titan :D

It suddenly seems that there are only two pickup models in the entire market and nobody cares about the rest :) That being said, I'm sure they're both KILLER pickups but I haven't tried them yet.
I'm receiving a Juggernaut set to test them, very curious about them since on paper they'd be just perfect for me. Titans I have no idea, I'm sure they're great but I'm plenty happy with my BKPs, and for some reason I'm more intrigued by the Illuminators, don't ask me why haha :)

What are your thoughts on the Jake Bowen Ibanez sig and titan pickups?

Cool guitar definitely, if it comes with Tremol-No and ebony fingerboard it's good stuff. Pickups of course sound good but I'm plenty happy with my BKPs :)

How often do you use a new pick? I use Dunlop gator grips and I find they lose the shine in their sound after a few weeks (I have a very hard picking style) but I don't want to burn through picks really fast.

It depends how much I use it and how much it lasts. Even weeks or a month if it's random playing, but for official recordings I change pick every song.

how much ghz would you recommend for a PC/Mac for recording with POD Farm or other programs? Or how much ghz has your PC/Mac?

Scar Simmetry is a band, in the video I'm playing the sweep solo from their song Holographic Universe

sono comodi i modelli di ibanez senza l'AANJ? tu che ne hai un po' cosa dici?

Per i tasti alti sono più comodi gli Aanj ma le anni 90 col tacco squadrato sono imbattibili

I'm interested in buying a blackmachine from a friend of a friend but not sure if it's legit, the frets seem a little sharp but it does have the backplate, what size is your backplate? that says blackmachine on it

Well send me a picture of it so I can confirm, otherwise I'm just thinking you want dimensions to build your copy :)
