I think you have nailbomb and vhii pickups with two lines of screws and covers(like warpig or aftermaths) ..Is it a special order ? do you find that this alters the sound of the pickups or is it 100 % an asthetic change ?

Minas Kouroglou
In my B6, yes. It's something that BKP doesn't recommend, as it alters the sound (more bass/output).

What'd be more benefitial: 10-20 exercises per day but only 10-15 minutes per exercise vs 5-10 exercises but ~30 minutes per exercise?!

Dude, JUST PLAY! Practise if you feel the need to get better, just noodle around if you're not in the mood.
Play as much as you want and as much as you can, and things will get better with time. You can't quantify practising in amount of minutes or exercises done, better to do just one and do it GOOD :) When you feel you're good with it, go to the next one. Never think how much, just how!

You sound like a great teacher who also really cares about his students alot :) i was wondering, if u offer something like a discount if one takes more than one lessons (like on a weekly basis or so)?

Thanks! Yes, I currently charge 20€ for a 1hr lesson, but with two lessons per week the price is 35€.

Do you favor exercises or songs/solos for improving technique?

If it's strictly technique, exercises first. If needed, but not necessary, solos/songs too :)

Hi Francesco! I'm going to buy an Ibanez rg550 and going to install a BKP Aftermath in the bridge position. Which pick up would fit it best? (not necessarily a BKP). I'd like to have a powerful and defined sound in distortion and a crystalline clean..

Cold Sweat!

What's the best way to relearn technique? Specifically picking hand stuff, I never got any lessons and 6 years later my shitty picking technique's catching up, I can't play anything fast across multiple strings because my picking can't keep up at all :(

Don't be afraid, I had to re-learn stuff after 10-11 years of playing :) take lessons with a good teacher that can show you exactly what you're doing wrong, why it doesn't work and how you should fix it by changing your right/left hand posture.

Hey Francesco! Do you know Rocco? You should hook up and make a song together or something since you are both one of the best guitarists Italy has to offer :D

Rocco is a great friend and amazing guitarist, I'm sure we'll do something one day :)

How do you know so much about producing stuff and playing? Are you self taught? Can you suggest some DVDs which can help in improving guitar playing techniques?

Guitar & music production has been my main driving passion for 13+ years so :) I am partially self-taught, but I've taken private lessons as well.
I'd suggest looking for Gilbert/Petrucci stuff, can't go wrong with those!

Im so happy to read that you can live from music now, you really deserve the best since you worked a lot for it. Excuse my ignorance, but aside from teaching, is there another way make good money from music?

Thanks :) well it depends how much "good money" you mean. Don't expect to become rich by giving guitar lessons haha.
Yes, some artists have pretty good merch sales, that is definitely one thing I want to work with the band after we record our first vid.

Since you said in the FAQ you appreciate questions like "do you like band x" or stuff like that. Let me ask you, what do you think of the band Fallujah? I honestly haven't heard such an inspiring band in the metal genre in years.

MIND BLOWING. I seriously can't wait for their new album, one of the very best new bands. I adore them!

What happened to your Graphic Design job?

Still doing it from time to time, but basically no more since I can live decently with just music right now :)

Ciao Francesco!

How do you affort all the gear you have? Do you have a regular job or do you live from making music and giving lessons?

Aaahhh this question again :) dude I work until 2am every fuckin day, giving lessons both online and in person. Currently have around 40 students so that's enough to make a decent living. Apart from that, it's session work or producing/engineering bands, and the (very poor) time left gets spent on my band's music and friends.
I've been buying guitars since I started playing many years ago, so that's a matter of smart saving and seek pretty good deals. Hope that clarifies the subject, but still I don't get why people get interested on other folks' finances...

what's your opinion on those one-humbucker'd signature guitars that the dudes from Meshuggah have? would you ever experiment with stuff like that?

Not my thing to be honest, it's pretty much a one trick pony imho

For a home studio, should I prioritize an Axe Fx II, or a pair of Adam A7X's? All i have for referencing are a pair of Audio Technica Ath-50 but considering they're headphones, they won't really do the trick. Thanks Fran!

Funny you ask, these days I'm just stuck with Axe-Fx and computer speakers since one of my new monitors was faulty and I had to turn them back (waiting for a replacement sucks!).
The Axe-Fx shines beautifully even with the built-in computer speakers, it sounds that good. So that's your answer :)

Do you have one pc/mac for music and one other for internet/downloading/gaming etc etc. Or only one pc/mac that you use for everything?

I have a Macbook Pro for randomness/internet/movies and an iMac for music business :)

What do you think about tunings like those used by Architects and The Safety Fire? (standard with the 6th string an octave or a seventh below the 5th string)

I'm experimenting these days with the Architects tuning for a cover I'm working on, sounds pretty badass to me! Lots of potential with these tunings :)
