Any tips to get a good tone in the mix during rehearsal? The place is not very large, i'm playing a Dual Recto, the other guitarist plays an old Randall and the drummer can hit hard as hell. The result is chaos, death and destruction, but not in the good way D:

When the room is loud, you'd need to tame the highs and lows quite a bit and bump the mids a healthy amount, since the higher the volume, the louder lows and highs would seem. Don't be afraid to play something that is apparently "honky", it might work just fine at rehearsals :)
That being said if you both had 6505s or similar you wouldn't have these issues since they cut thru like mofos, I find Recto and Randall generally on the scooped side.

What difference do you feel between a 17" and 20" fretboard radius? And can you elaborate a bit more on your choice? :)

17" is similar to good RGs, it's flat but not too much, very comfortable. 20" is flatter, maybe even better for soloing but not as good during rhythm in my opinion. It's not that there's tons of difference, but it's perceivable.

Hey man can you post a link for a tremol no suitable for ebmm jp7 because i want to buy one and i am not sure which one is suitable for it and i know you are using one.. Thanks in advance you are an amazing player !

I'm not using one (yet), for now if I need to I just block the trem with a piece of wood in the rear cavity. Anyway the Pin Type is what works with the JP

Le go pro hanno sempre il fisheye? Che videocamere consiglieresti per video musicali in HD?

dipende dal budget, per spendere poco e avere resa sicura cerca una EOS 550D usata!

I've been playing guitar for like 8 years and I'm tone deaf as fuck, I can't even tell the difference between a D chord and a G chord. Is there any hope for me to become a great composer at this point?

Never too late to improve, just listen and assimilate as much music as you can and play as much as you can, and something beautiful might come up. I've played for 10 years with ZERO theory knowledge.
To be honest though there might be something weird if you can't recognize the difference between two different chords :)

sisi giusto per capire la direzione, chi sarà il vostro vocalist? qualcuno di inedito o una conoscenza della "scena"?

surprise! ti posso dire che i puliti (pochi) li farò io :)

I was shocked to hear that you took your cover photo with an iPhone. That is a really high quality picture. What did you use to edit it?

Sunlight in the right spot can do miracles to your photos! The original picture is very close to what you see, I just tamed the blacks a bit to make a more "faded" vibe, added a bit of saturation, applied watermark lower-right and that's it if I remember correctly. I use Lightroom and Aperture btw

Yoooooooooooooooooo when u gonna play gta 5? any friends with an xbox???

Unfortunately I don't have any console atm, but PS4 will be mine muahaha!

can you really play slap bass? or slap an 8 string?

Yes :) one day I just searched "guitar slap" on youtube and started trying it myself. At first it didn't sound right but eventually I made it sound decent haha. I actually learnt it on guitar, then when we got a bass for the band I started doing it on bass too. Being precise on which string to hit with the thumb is the most difficult thing to achieve imho.
If you wanna see how far you can go with slap on guitar, search "scott mishoe"!
Next days I'll post a "slap lick" with tab, if time permits :)

Ever tried coloured guitar/bass strings like DR Neon?

never tried, but my best guess is they don't sound as colorful as they look haha!

The Avenged Sevenfold example is a bad example because there are many laws in the music industry that do not apply here. People are going against Vik because he has plagiarized in the past and is THREATENING THE WRONG GUITAR COMPANIES. Black Water and Skervesen didn't do shit to him.

I'd appreciate any comment on the matter to be put as a comment in the Facebook-part of my answer, this is a place for questions/answers, thanks for your input anyway man :)

How do you do such clean tapping and sweeping in that Sylosis vid? You didn't even use a fret wrap either tho

thanks :) it's a matter of practising stuff over and over I think. I use fretwraps to prevent unwanted weird resonances during tight rhythms, not to help my lead playing. But yea it can be used for that purpose too!

What do you think is better between a '92 RG 750 and a '99 RG 550? I have the chance to buy one of the two for the same price...

'92 :)

What's YOUR opinion on the whole Vik drama?

The "drama" would be non-existent if common sense was still alive nowadays. If I am X dude and I like Y dude's work, I write Y "hey I like your work, could I do something similar with my stuff?" and depending on the answer, I'll then behave accordingly. Is it that difficult?
Theoretically speaking X can do anything he wants when there are no patents/copyrights involved. Then at the same time why can't Y do anything he wants by criticizing it and call it out? I don't think patents are required to do so :)
To clarify: I know Vik and the Skerv folks personally and both are incredibly nice people to hang with, I respect each other's work. But I did in fact talk with Maciek at Skerv regarding their Raptor model, saying I much preferred their other models rather than something "too inspired" like that. He genuinely replied "but it's our best selling model" and I can't argue with that, the original design is so hard to purchase and they opened doors for all the BM-shape lovers.
I still think that regardless of money, one should build his name with his stuff. Since they've stopped accepting Raptor orders, I'm glad they're taking the right path and I wish them the best as a company.
Vik takes pride in what he does, and with very good reason. After so many years in guitar history, he's one of the very few who came up with original, unique and classy designs, and see someone else earning money the easy way, without putting the effort to create something personal, but most importantly without his consent, is indeed upsetting in his position.
Now, some frequent responses I've seen:
1) "but what about all the Gibson/Fender/Ibanez copies around etc etc?" There is a huge difference between copying a classic, dated design which is all around the world in gigantic quantities, and occupy the same niche market of someone else who does custom work.
2) "you are reacting unprofessionally/you shouldn't get offended" Heard the new Avenged Sevenfold album? It's a plagiarism monument and Machine Head's Rob Flynn called them out publicly by stating the truth. Why in this case everybody agreed with him in front of the obvious evidence, rather than go against him?
3) "strandberg licenses his designs to everyone" That's his personal choice, not a universal law. I applaude Ola for this but that doesn't mean I'd do it in his position :)
4) "I'm unliking the page/wow what a douche/etc" useless drama. If I see dog shit on the street, I proceed walking, I don't stop and yell "OMG DOG SHIT WTF EW".
That being said, I have unfortunately learnt the hard way that stating publicly exactly what's in our mind is not the best thing since people tend to take stuff way too personally. I would have approached the concerned people privately and worked it out without drama involved. But hey, it's the internet :)

I'm looking for a good replacement for the bridge pickup in my RGA7. Since i'm not going to use the neck position, i'd like a pickup good for both tight rhythm stuff and singing lead tone. Any suggestions?

I'd say soapbar sized Aftermath, Rebel Yell is another good one!

Do you think it would be fine if I used standard 7 string tuning on a 26.5 scale length guitar?

Yes, it would sound badass!

What do you think about AKG K240? I need a pair of headphone for mixing

Well there is no headphone that can substitute proper monitors, but ATH M-50 and Sennheiser HD650 are very good second references.
