Yes, play/record music and show it to as many people as you can (without being spammy of course). I'm of the opinion that GOOD music always prevails and will find its way to people's ears :)

Ever tried Lace Alumitone? They seem to be very peculiar, especially for the cleans.
Good for cleans with a very prominent character, not so good for distorted rhythm stuff though

Yes if you send 'em the pickups! It will be a 100$ upcharge if I'm not mistaken. I admit it's a bit pricey therefore you can just receive the guitar and then do it yourself or let your local tech do it :)

I can't live without a trem during leads or even gigs, but Floyds are indeed bitches to change strings etc. I prefer Music Man JP trems, but Floyds sound very good too.

What pickups would you put in a DC800 if you needed a versatile clean sound? I wouldn't use distortion, but i'd like to space from the jazzy warm neck tone to the twangy splitted bridge coil.
either Rebel Yell or Alnico Nailbomb bridge, and VH2 neck. Abraxas bridge and Holy Diver or Juggernaut neck are other nice alternatives if you're after an overall warmer tone.

Although I endorse Carvin, in your case I'd just recommend buying a JP :) you'll find a used one within your budget.

Non fanno per me, non mi trasmettono niente purtroppo.
Non li ho mai visti live quindi non mi pronuncio, ma le altre cose che elenchi non sono accuse ma fatti: è ovvio che usano batteria midi e registrano a metà velocità e poi velocizzano, è palese.
