Can you play just as fast and clean on an 8 as you do on a 6? even with the wide neck?
Yes, although you have to take care more of your muting technique since you have to mute two more strings to keep everything sounding clean :)
He Francesco, I have a neck through BC Rich with a koa body and maple neck that needs better pickups. Any recommendations? I'd prefer a neck pickup with sustain and a bridge pickup that can handle distortion for rock and metal. Thanks a lot!
Sustain comes from the instrument/amp and distortion also comes from the amp :) you don't give me any infos on tuning/genre preferences....I so wish there would be a FAQ page on Ask.fm *sighs

Ha ottimissimi gusti in fatto di musica, i suoi album con gli Obscura e Necrophagist mi piacciono molto ma il solista mi annoia parecchio. Tecnicamente molto veloce e fa cose decisamente difficili, peccato non abbia un buon tocco nei vibrati/bending e il suo problema al dito medio
What can you do with a 6 string that you can't do on a 7 or 8?
Theoretically, nothing! In practice, I find myself more at home when teaching with 6 strings, and they have more "shred factor".
do you have a car or a van? its hard to fit guitar case in trunk
Our guitarist has his small van and we fit just nice with all our instruments included
