how would you suggest improving finger tone?

Finger tone comes with years of playing, connecting with the fretboard, feeling it! Going fast is not difficult, having character applied to the notes you play is. Focus on fundamentals rather than playing fast. Try to replicate the exact movements during vibrato/bend/slide/legato of guitarists you like....if they are good at these techniques of course :)

any ideas on what your next 8 string might be? back to carvin?

I already have an 8 string but my other guitarist now needs one: either back to Carvin or the new Ibanez bubinga top.

When you want to record acoustic guitar parts, do you use the piezo, the axe fx or an actual acoustic guitar?

Why not an acoustic guitar, with piezo, into the Axe Fx?

Do you have a favourite non-metal album?

Good question! I have many, but never thought about only one...I might have to think a bit about this hehe :)

You like EMG on Facebook, but do you like them in real life?

You can't deny that a huge amount of the best Rock/Metal records of all time has been recorded with EMGs. While I do prefer passives for cleans, leads and crunches, EMGs are very hard to beat for strictly rhythm recording. I personally think both 81/85 are amazing in the bridge and sub-par in the neck position. The 60 is good in the neck but the 66 is even better.

...if you did a blind test with that video you posted below, can you tell the pickup position and pickup styles being used?

The difference between bridge, middle and neck position is pretty apparent I think

How do you take care of bare wood and oil necks?

I've never seen a finished guitar with bare wood, even the ones that seem to be bare actually have finish (oil/satin/gloss/whatever). If you think your oiled neck is too dry, just "feed" it with oil and it should be absorbed pretty fast and do its job to mantain the wood properly.

What are those white stickers on the back of MM JP guitars? Can you get them off?

The serials you mean? Yes obviously

Any thoughts on BKP Warpig ? I'm thinking of getting a pair on my 7 string. (They sound so great on Lee Malia's guitars)

Brutal, devastating pickups. I love 'em!

What are the differences in tone between covered/non covered pickups? Do P.U rings affect tone in any way? Since P.U are based off of faradays law, from my studies, I assume that metal P.U rings would affect the magnetic field and tone somehow. Science isn't everything tho.. what is your experience?

Hey, I found this page in the link of your Mayones Duncan Solo video!! Great job, I can't wait for more!!

Thanks :) I'm uploading a new video on monday

It seems that you're becoming a full-time pickup-advisor for a lot of people, does it bother you ? :D

If it bothered me, I wouldn't answer :)

It seems like most people prefer the tonal qualities of bolt on construction. Are there any advantages to neck thru guitars?

To my experience and ears/feeling, neck thru guitars just sound huge! They tend to retain more note "fundamental" and you can feel the palm mutes shaking the room! Also there's generally better upper fret access and I find neck thru instruments a bit more stable.

Hi Francesco! Could you tell me which are the Bare Knucle pickups on your Blackmachine B6?? Screws, bolts, covered, openen, finish, conductor?? thanks man :D

BKP ceramic Nailbomb bridge, Painkiller neck. Both covered with Battleworn finish, 4 conductors for coil-split. They're a bit different than usual though: bridge is slightly underwound to retain a bit more clarity, and both have two rows of coils rather than just one visible like all covered humbuckers (except Aftermath and Warpig). Two rows provide a hair more bass and more adjustments, if you need to.
One thing though, the question you ask is very specific: if your purpose is to get exactly the tone you've heard...it doesn't work like that mate :)

hey fra! i have a problem. I can write riffs with a lot of cool lead parts in them, but i am JUST not able write a solo. I can't write a good solo to save my life. Any suggestions on how i can start writing lead parts.. also i have no knowledge of music theory.. thanks!

1 - there's no better way than listen to tons of excellent solos/songs/albums from the best guitarists, don't limit yourself in listening to chugga chugga+widdle widdle bands.
2 - the solo should tell a short story: it should have quiet but also powerful moments, fast and aggressive licks but also slower and more "soulful" ones, melodic but also "outside" parts. Opposites bring beautiful balance and dynamics to the final product.
3 - one thing is playing a lick, one thing is making it connect and flow with others. You should "internalize" the backing track and decide when a faster part would be cool, when a melodic one is more appropriated, etc.
4 - make the guitar sing! It's nice to hear the melody in your head, to sing along with it, so maybe you could play a main/recurring theme within the solo, and do faster licks around it.
5 - LEARN YOUR FUCKIN FUNDAMENTALS! There's NO WAY you'll make the guitar sing if your vibrato/bending/legato/slide technique sucks. Focus on these, and only when you're comfortable with them, play fast.

Hi Francesco! Help me to choose BKP for my Jackson super dinky. Mahogany body, maple neck, pao ferro fingerboard. Mostly to play periphery and the faceless stuff, sometimes jazz and fusion stuff. Thanx !

definitely Aftermath bridge, Cold Sweat neck.

Do You like Fleshgod Apocalypse and Septicflesh?

I love both of them, opened for Fleshgod two or three times with my ex band and they always kill it.

what makes suhr guitars so good? I never played one

Suhr is a well estabilished company with top notch wood stash, extremely experienced people and superb designs, attention to detail is second to none. I want one myself :)
