How do you recommend practicing difficult chord progressions ? I am talking about complex big chords with big finger stretching ...it is possible to play the separately but i struggle when i have a progression with big complex chords

Practise a two-chord progression only. Switch continuously between the first and second, start slow and find the most "economic" way of switching between the two (less movement involved). When you find yourself good with it, then practice a two-chord progression between the second and third chord you want to add in the sequence.
Then third-fourth, fourth-first and then when you're comfortable with all these separated, try linking them!
As usual with all exercises, if you can't figure out the "big picture", start by subdividing it in smaller parts.

Ciao Francesco! Se io ho questo accordo "F A## C E" che accordo è? Cioè, come si chiama quando il 3° grado è doppio diesis?

When it comes to production, what's your favorite metal album or who's your favorite producer? Also for Abio, in what style of production would you like it to be? I know you already have someone mix the album, just any other preferences? Thanks man, looking forward to the release!

Producers/mixers I like a lot are Andy Sneap, David Bendeth, Daniel Bergstrand, Jens Bogren, Tue Madsen, Jacob Hansen, CLA, Colin Richardson, Jason Suecof, Zack Ohren, Mark Lewis, Sacha Laskow, Aaron Smith, Ermin Hamidovic, Erik Rutan, Wieslawski Bros, Peter Tagtren, Fredrik Nordstrom, Will Putney, Dan Korneff.
Here are some of my fav albums production-wise:
Gojira - The Way Of All Flesh
Decapitated - Carnival Is Forever
Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal
Soilwork - Stabbing The Drama
Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue
Machine Head - The Blackening
Carcass - Heartwork
Slipknot - Slipknot
Slipknot - Iowa
Sure there are TONS more, but these (expecially the first two) are my absolute favs.
My preference sound-wise is huge and modern but keeping the flow, air, musicality and most importantly the personality a memorable album has.

Ideal recording level (I'm doing direct with a POD HD pro), I've heard that a -6 or -8 limit is ideal for mixing and mastering, other people say -12 or -10?

It depends. I don't think it matters that much (if at all) with a pod hd pro for various reasons, but generally speaking I like to hit my interface's preamps with maximum peaks at -6dB. Theoretically speaking, the "core" signal should be averaging between -20 and -12 but it's not that mandatory, expecially if you plan on keeping everything in the digital realm.
As long as it doesn't clip, it's all good :) just for the sake of it, in your case I'd never exceed -3dB as absolute max.

I'm about to getting my first recording rig, and I want to get a fairly good sounding interface without getting too expensive. I would be running guitars and bass through it so I can record song ideas and also program drums. I'm running it through Logic Pro X on my Macbook Pro, presonus firestudio?

Best option would be Apogee Duet 2, search for a used one. If it's still too much, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or Presonus Audiobox USB are solid and cheap!

Hi France, please help me with this: I am looking for new music. I LOVE tight brutal riffs with a lot of synth. Really melodic metal/death metal. Do you have any suggestions for what I can check out? Thx!

check Edge Of Sanity - Crimson II, you're welcome :)

Favourite free and not DAWs?

I personally use Ableton since I find it easy and complete. It also accepts both VST and AU plugins which doesn't hurt!
I also like Logic Pro X much better than the previous version, Reaper rules and Studio One is another brilliant daw.
Have very little experience with Cubase or Pro Tools but I guess they get the job done :)

Peavey 5150 vs Peavey 6505+ any differences?

5150: rawer, more "chaotic", very brutal and grindy. 6505+: more polished and controlled, tighter, a bit less output

5150iii mini vs peavey 6505?

5150III if you're looking for a more modern sound, 6505 if you're into Thrash/classic Death Metal, 6505+ if you're more towards classic Metalcore tone. Of course all can excel at everything, it's just my opinion :)

guitar rig or amplitube? :)

BIAS or Jamup Pro for IOS devices, Revalver/Podfarm/Lepou/Nick Crow/Rammfire/TSE X50 for computer :)

Im an Ibanez guy and i love how basswood sounds, Im thinking of ordering my first carvin but they dont have basswood body as an option. what would you suggest i do? Thanks!

You like basswood but give other woods a chance :) a Carvin will feel and sound differently than an Ibby but you might end up joining both equally!
I personally think alder will be a good substitute for basswood, but tighter and more open. Rest is up to you!

I had to sell off my amp and cab to fund a guitar i couldn't turn down. Now i need something to play through on a low budget til I can save up for a Fractal. I already tried the jam up pro app but it still feels like it lacks a lot and isn't doing it for me. Do you have any suggestions?

Computer plugins if you already have an audio interface and monitors, like Revalver/Guitar Rig/PodFarm/Lepou etc. Or a cheap Pod XT/X3 will do the trick.
When I sold my Ultra and the II was taking a lot to arrive, I was using Revalver connected to poweramp and cab at rehearsals :)

I am planning to buy a Peavey 6505+ combo but hear the speaker is no good so I was wondering what would be a good speaker to replace it with (just one speaker 1x12) thanks it will also be used for lots of metal and distortion etc. So any reccomendations?

not sure about the 1x12 version but the 2x12 is absurdly heavy, hope the 1x12 version is substantially lighter otherwise goodbye your back, seriously. I'd personally wouldn't recommend a combo if you want to change the speaker, usually they're just built to sound best that way, also it's a bitch to resell them if modified. Consider Head+Cab.

Hi francesco, I'm looking for a new guitar but my budget its low. Do you think jackson SLATXMG3-7 will be a good choice? Or sterling 70 ? Or jackson SLATXMGQ3-7? Which one do you think i should go for?

I think the Jackson model you mentioned is a better guitar, but Sterling JP70 is cool too!

I think a previous question meant James Labrie's solo album "Impermanent Resonance", not Dream Theater's self-titled album.

ok Rob!

What do you think about James Labrie latest album ?

Fuckkkkin awesome! Much better than the last DT release imho. Very solid songs, pro musicians at their best.

Have you ever tried JamUp Pro Xt on iphone 4s? I want tu buy one and i need to know if it works fine.

It works fine indeed!

So I have acquired an EVH 5150iii 50 watt amp head and I'm curious, what cab do you think would work best? Like, will there be a noticeable difference if I go for something like an Orange or a Mesa rather than the normal EVH cab? Also, should I go for a 4x12 or a 2x12.I'm not playing massive shows

It's funny since I just played a 5150III 100w and 50w some hours ago with an EVH 2x12 and Mesa 2x12. Absolutely terrific difference, the Mesa is much more musical, rock, warmer, bigger and with tooons more "oomph" than the EVH which sounded cold and dry. If you have space and can crank it up, I'd suggest a Mesa 4x12. Zilla or Mills (depending where you live) are awesome choices too.
