ever seen the original karate kids?

I've seen 1 and 2, not 3 or the Hillary Swank one. They were both pretty good, haven't seen them in a while though.

Would you ever want YouTube to be your full time job?

No way. There's zero security, something could happen that causes the bottom to fall out of it at a moment's notice. "Playing video games for YouTube" doesn't add much to your resume, either. Turning it into a business and using it as my primary source of money would make it lose its charm anyway.

Do you like Windows 8?

Haven't tried it, I'm not really that interested though since I'm more than happy with 7 and use a lot of open source software that would probably have compatibility issues. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

are you interested in the ps4

I don't know anything about it. It'll probably be one of those things where if I do get it it will be a few years.

Would you ever consider tutoring as a sidejob? I'm just curious.

I did math tutoring a couple semesters when I was in high school, wouldn't really need to nowadays since I have a full-time job.

Did you delete your Formspring account completely?

The easiest thing to do would be to, you know, go check. For the sake of you being lazy though, I'm keeping it up for two reasons: One, there are a couple people on there I follow. Two, just in case someone runs across it and wants to ask me something, I can direct them here.

Do you like Super Paper Mario? And if you don`t, why?

Never played it myself, but I've seen most of the game and just not really interested. It's more of a knock-off platformer with dialogue than a Paper Mario game, and I've played enough Mario platformers in my life already.

Do you prefer Paper Mario or Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door? Not as far as LPing goes, just as far as the games in general. What are the improvements and drawbacks TTYD made from the original?

Definitely the original. I dislike most of the changes TTYD made in its battle system, such as the slots, stage hazards, audience throwing stuff at you, etc. Some of the stage hazards in particular, like the ones that freeze you, or the stage props that fall on you and make you dizzy, are really annoying. The game also has a lot more pointless backtracking to and from areas, the helpers are less memorable, Bowser has no relevant purpose in the game, enemies with shields like the Yux are super annoying, I think the addition of superguard is needless, the Pit of 100 Trials is excruciating... Honestly I only really consider TTYD to be an average game.

Do you like any of George Carlin's views?

I haven't watched a whole lot of Carlin, most of what I've seen is quotes people have posted on the internet (probably more than half of which are faked) so it's hard to say. For what I have seen, you also have to keep in mind that he was a comedian first and foremost. His primary focus was entertainment, satire, and black comedy, so a lot of his material was designed just to bash pretty much everybody. From a social commentary standpoint, sure, he's said some things I agree with, but it'd be hard to elaborate without specific examples.

What is your most proud moment so far in life?

I haven't done a lot yet, I'm only two years out of college, but I think I'm somewhat proud of graduating college and immediately walking into a full-time job and my own apartment.

What are your views on YouTube? Is it heading in the right direction?

It may be the most popular video hosting site in the world, and its influence is only growing, so it's pretty clear they've done something right. And when you think from a tech perspective of features like letting almost everybody upload videos of virtually any length and size... this is the kind of innovation that doesn't come around very often.

Because the upload time is taking way longer now that the file size is bigger. (Btw that last question was me, about rendering at 10bps, I just forgot to uncheck ask anonymously!)

Answered below.

I got Vegas 12 recently (I miss 10..) and in the tutorial I watched it said to render at 10bps. But I thought I remembered you saying that YouTube kills the quality anyway so it's pointless to render at that high of bps. I was rendering at 4, so is it worth rendering at 10 or should I go back to 4?

I don't know why you're bothering upgrading, I use 8 and even it has way more functionality than we need for LP's. For SD content render at 3 Mbps, for 720p HD content use 6 Mbps.

When I recorded at 13.5mbps instead of 6, when I went into "Track Motion" in Vegas and changed it to 960x776 (that always made it so it filled the screen) there was a black border around the video. Is it because I recorded at 13.5? I know I can just crop the video but it was just a minor annoyance!

Uh, there's a lot wrong with this. Bit rate doesn't affect resolution, and the only way 960x776 would fill a 16:9 screen is if you're using some weird pixel width. Just crop out whatever needs cropped, set pixel width to 1 (and keep it this way), and uncheck maintain aspect ratio to fill the screen. Your video will be whatever size you set in project properties.

what are some of your favourite gamecube games?

Don't really have a lot, the only ones I've played within the last few years are Twilight Princess, Paper Mario: TTYD, and Skies of Arcadia Legends.

For my Hauppauge HD PVR I just changed the bitrate under format settings to 13.5 since I recently got a faster computer. Does that really make a difference over the 6 I used to have it set at? The only difference I noticed was at 13.5 the file size is bigger!

Yes, you should always capture at the highest bit rate you reasonably can. You may not notice a visible difference upon watching the capture itself (though a trained eye probably would notice a little something) but it is there. You want a high quality capture so it doesn't suffer as much during the transcode after editing. When transcoding 6 Mbps --> 6 Mbps and 13.5 Mbps --> 6 Mbps, the second one will look a bit better.

Paul McCartney said: "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian." What do you think about it?

It wouldn't take long for some idiot to break it, and then we'd all have broken glass in our burgers. This is a bad idea.

Will you be getting Metal Gear Rising? Also, what did you think of the demo?

I preordered it actually, played it for a few hours today. It's super fun so far, but it's one of those games that's really annoying for perfectionists like me. I have to force myself to accept a fight that doesn't get the no damage bonus.
