I have a debate tomorrow, and I want to hear your opinion: Are we humans (not) naturally cruel, selfish, and greedy? This pertains to Hobbes' and Locke's theories of humans in their books from the Enlightenment.

It doesn't make any sense for us to be. We would've died out on the plains hundreds of thousands of years ago. It was the combination of our relative intelligence and ability to form communities that got us where we are. Self-survival is obviously a priority for any living thing, but we realized a long time ago that to do so requires cooperation in our species as much as or maybe even moreso than others.
It's too bad your debate is limited to two thinkers (especially two 17th-century thinkers); the addition of the societal element of human evolution would make it a more interesting discussion.

Have you been way less comments on your videos ever since YouTube released the new system?

No, not really. It's been about what I'd expect for not having pushed out a video in a couple weeks.

What are your thoughts on the fact that life like ours is so rare in the universe, yet there are so many people who take it for granted?

Well, rare in the universe as far as we know. To be fair we've only seen a very small percentage of the whole thing. Having been born and having not died yet, especially as life as (relatively) high-functioning as us and at a time of such rapid advancement, is a pretty good deal though.
I don't hold anything against people who don't really think about it -- after all if you're not currently living you wouldn't know it anyway, and it's not like we could've chosen to be born as anything else. It's one of those things that's fun to think about if you're so inclined, but it's important to enjoy what's in front of you too.

I really want the last of us, but i'm still finnicky about the whole zombie thing. Does it follow the same loop as other zombie games do?

To some extent they all share some of the same characteristics, but for what it's worth I'm probably more burnt out on zombies than you are and I still loved it. The pandemic is really just a backdrop for the stories between the survivors and the relationships they form. It's not hundreds of zombies coming at you all the time, it's more like distinct encounters separated with atmospheric environments and conversation. There will always be some survival-horror cliches in there but for what it's worth I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Would you classify zelda as a fantasy game then? When they did try something different with zelda 2 it became the most controversial game in the series.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Controversial doesn't mean bad, it means different. We should love controversy. Somewhere between the extremes of loving every game they make and hating any game that's slightly different is where progress gets made.

Do you think that game developers will ever run out of original ideas for their games? It might become harder to be original with each game that comes out.

Nope. Being original doesn't mean you have to do every single thing different, there are established tropes for a reason, just make it your own. There are way more stories that haven't been made yet than there are ones that have.

How would you like the zelda series to change? It has stayed the same for so long because all of the games have been amazing and the fans have adored them.

To be fair, the games haven't all stayed exactly the same. The leap to 3D was huge and one you could tell they put a lot of effort into making work. Even within the 3D games Wind Waker was pretty different with its new graphic style and open-ocean exploration, Twilight Princess introduced the Wolf transformation, and Skyward Sword tried a ton of new things control-wise. When it comes to gameplay I think they're doing okay in keeping enough the same that it still feels like Zelda while trying to introduce new things to keep it fresh.
I was referring to story as that's what the previous questions had been about -- something I doubt very few people really play Zelda games for nowadays. You're some unassuming local boy named Link (by default) who has a legendary destiny thrust upon him where he has to save Zelda (or some girl with personality who ends up "realizing her destiny" and suddenly loses it all) and the world from Ganon or some other evil with the help of the sacred power of the gods/goddesses. It's not yet gotten quite as bad as Mario plots but it's easy to say Zelda games rely on their gameplay first and foremost. As far as what I want to see in the future, think about how Majora's Mask innovated in that department. Other worlds, other evils, other mysteries to unravel.

Do you think the Zelda series would benefit from getting away from the medieval setting?

I wouldn't really classify Zelda as medieval.

What would be on your list of either the best games of the year, or your favorite games of the year?

I'm probably the worst person to ask since I've played like four. The Last of Us is pretty good though.

How do you know when a video game world has run out of stories to tell? If a new person gets a hold of the series they could tell a story we have never heard or seen before.

It's just kind of something you have to feel out I guess. With a game like Mother 3, the ending (spoilers so if you don't want them skip to the next paragraph after the line breaks) involves wiping out of the remaining evil from Giygas/Pokey and basically the complete reset of the world that was just too important to not be the conclusion of its story. If you go through all that just to have something else happen later it cheapens the original story.
If you get too much it gets to be like the Zelda series, where I think the official timeline and any attempts to make events conform to it have really hurt the series story-wise. If Zelda had the freedom to come up with new things within a new universe I think we'd see better stories out of it.

Has there been any question relating to any of your LP'd games that you've had to look back at the games to get the answer?

NintendoGamer4100’s Profile PhotoBrigham Hood
Probably. I mean, I've been doing this for four and a half years.

I'm not asking you to sign one, but if you were asked to sign a petition to bring back the old youtube comment system and not have google plus required, would you?

No, why even waste the time?

Is MegaMan X on your list of games you'd LP? I'd love to see you play that game. I don't know if you liked it or not, but it's one of my favorite games from my childhood.

It probably won't end up happening. It's one of those things I might do if I want something quick for filler but it's not like no one's ever heard of it and everyone who knows anything about it knows everything about it. Plus it's one in a long series so inevitably I'd get asked to do all the other games too.

Did you ever play DK64? If so, what was your favorite place? Least? And (sorry, too much here) what did you think of the final dungeon and final boss?

Yeah, but it's been a long time. I can't think of a favorite/least favorite area. The time limit on the final level is dumb. Final boss is fine.

In your opinion what are the five worst video games out there?

Haven't played them all. Tend to not focus on bad games anyway.

Do you have any filters for certain words in your comment section with the new blacklist feature?

Yes. Mostly I tried a few things to disallow links though since I have no indication of how the filter system works I don't know if any of them will ever do anything. Added a few other things as well that would never possibly be in a useful comment.

There's a thief going off with some goods, and you're just sitting there playing video games! What are you going to do?

Robin'll handle it.

Who do you think will be the college football champion, and who do you think will be the super bowl champion?

Haven't really been following either. Just pick whoever is #1 in FBS and whoever is undefeated in the NFL.
