My country is too large and diverse for one traditional meal. Feel free to give me a specific region in the U.S. and I'll do my best.
What is your favorite potato chip flavor?
Oh, this is a good question. Pretty much impossible for me to answer, but I'll give you a top five: Honey BBQ, Salt & Vinegar, Cool Ranch Doritos (I know, I'm awful), any kind of corn chips, and last but definitely not least...Funyuns!
Who is your most hated celebrity?
I don't think I actually *hate* anybody. I don't care for Trump, Fry, Gervais, Hopkins, Limbaugh, Coulter, and anyone else who has made a point to mock or insult the innocent, abused, or disabled. It's not cute, funny, or clever...it's attention-seeking nonsense and it is pathetic in every possible way. I am not a fan of a lot of celebrities, but chances are I couldn't care less whether or not you're famous. That means nothing to me. I really dislike bullies and jerks in general.
Do you wear any t-shirts with funny sayings on them?
Not that I can think of, unless one of my Doctor Who shirts counts. It says "Keep Calm and Don't Blink".
What's the most unusual thing in your refrigerator, right now?
A plastic box full of hand-rolled henna cones from India.
What tastes better than it smells?
That's easy. CHEESE!
What do you think people should do more often?
Give a damn about somebody other than themselves.
What are you listening to right now?
Of Monsters and Men's album Beneath The Skin (excellence...you must look it up).
What is your favorite tea?
Black and Orange Pekoe...otherwise known as Southern Sweet Tea. As for hot tea, definitely Chai Latte.
What is something you wish you were better at?
Everything. I'll never be satisfied with anything I do.
What scares you more than anything else?
At the moment I'm pretty scared of the possibility of Trump becoming president. I knew there were some incredibly sick, stupid people in my country, but I had no idea there were enough to keep this fiasco going.
What two animals, if combined, would make for an awesome animal?
I'm going to sort of steal an idea from John Green and say an elephant puppy.
I love a wide variety of foods, but a perfect slice of pizza makes me want to dance.
Is love complicated? Why?
Yes, because people are complicated.
How do you see yourself spending your time in your old age?
Good question, but I have no idea. If I make it to "old age" (whatever that means), I hope I'm still in well enough shape to be independent. Maybe I'll have a bunch of published books and spend my time chatting with friends, family, and readers on a shiny new social media network. God only knows what that will entail, but I hope it's fun.
What is the formula of happiness?
Happiness is not a formula, but I bet a daily dose of selfless gratitude would be a decent place to start.
Do we become happy only when we meet the one we love?
I sure hope not, because that means I'm doomed. This is a sad question, to be honest. You need to embrace life for what it is and not be dependent on someone else to make you happy. Be your own person, and be content in that. You will be incredibly disappointed if you base your worth on whether or not you have a lover.
How patriotic are you?
I have a reasonable appreciation for what I've been given, including being born in a first world country. I consider myself lucky, blessed, and grateful. I am patriotic in the sense that I acknowledge our history and what our nation represents (or is supposed to, anyway). Unfortunately, a lot of people who claim to be patriotic are getting it wrong. They're angry, paranoid, and quite frankly scary. I'm not obsessed, indignant, or overzealous about America or anything else. It's not the person I want to be.
How would the world be different if everybody was vegetarian?
We would be overruled by wild animals and aquatic life. And I can't even begin to imagine what the cow, fowl, and pig population would look like. There might be a shortage of vegetation, which means the prices would be pretty fierce. We'd probably have to import a lot of our vegetables from other countries (I realize we do this already, but to a much greater extent).
Cheetos or Doritos?
Doritos by a mile. Every flavor.
What music are you listening to right now?
I'm listening to Pandora Radio. Currently playing is Florence + the Machine.
What is your weirdest "quirk"?
Weird is subjective. I don't really know. I do stupid voice impressions that some people may find weird or take the wrong way, but I'm not mocking anyone...I only impersonate people (or characters) I like. I wish I could issue that disclaimer before I do it, but I don't even think about it until after it comes out. My mother was like that, and my older brother does it too. I guess it's just instilled in me.
What's your reaction to the words "We need to talk.."?
"Ok sure, what's up?"I'd like to think I'm an easy person to talk to. What would be worse is to say you need to talk to me and then say "never mind". Man, do I ever hate that. And I also don't recommend having a problem with me and harboring resentment instead of talking to me about it. If I did something wrong, I want to know so I can take responsibility. If the issue is your own fault, I'll tell you so, but at least we would know for sure where we stand.
