My God, too many. Cutting ties is the only way unless the toxic person changes for the better, which is possible, but I dare say rare. Assess yourself, address your own issues, and learn to set and follow through on personal boundaries. You can’t make someone else change, nor should you try, but you have every right to protect yourself.

I think I had one or two growing up, but it wasn’t really a popular thing with Mom until I was grown and gone. I’m pretty sure it revolved around chocolate or chewing gum. I’m too old to recall.
