It’s either an art experiment or a movie prop. This sort of thing has been done before.
Heck, even I planted coins in a tree trunk when I was a kid in hopes someone would see it and claim they found a money tree. Nobody ever did, and I eventually couldn’t leave coins there anymore (I was very poor).

When I was a kid I was dying to be on Double Dare. Unfortunately Marc Summers is a major jerk, so I’m glad that never happened. I admired him and did not need that kind of disappointment in my life.
