We were taught that it revolved around the planned abolition of slavery. I’m Southern, and had an ancestor who fought for the South. It’s important to learn the truth about this war, and all wars, even if it makes you uncomfortable.I will say the unfortunate thing that stands out to me is that field trips to plantations frequently involved the same dialogue, which was to attempt to make themselves look less terrible by claiming that their slaves were treated better than slaves elsewhere. I experience this dialogue on separate occasions in two different states. One thing I must give my current state credit for is that local museums tell the ugly truth and do not whitewash or defend slavery in any way. I was relieved to discover that. Other Southern states must end their “well at least my plantation wasn’t as bad as those other guys” dialogue, and get real. The issues I see today in “Trump’s America” is that racist, poorly-educated adults have created a narrative that the Civil War wasn’t really about slavery. It’s a lie. You can view on the internet the actual succession letter written by Jefferson Davis. It was 100% about slavery.Mind you, I was raised in Mississippi nor far from the Jeff Davis home. I still see people defend him and try to change the narrative today. I invite anyone who wants to learn about the Civil War to ignore opinions and go straight to the facts. Take an online class. Look for history books on Google. Order history textbooks books online. Or maybe there’s a museum offering virtual tours right now. Don’t hesitate to dive into research if you have time. Everyone has a right to their opinions, but opinions do not change solid facts.
Not really. I was weak and tired, so I slept part of the day, then got up and made myself a nice dinner. Then I washed dishes, cleaned the bathroom, and I’m back to weak and tired. I’m about to take a bath and try to get comfortable. How was your day?
If you celebrate 🐣 Easter!
(If not just ignore and delete)
If do! Well then Happy Easter to you and to all of your friends and family! Use this to share whatever you would like on Easter. Whether it be a picture with your family or an Easter GIF.
(Again if you don't celebrate Easter just ignore)
This year’s basket is vanilla chai, honey spoons, cookies, and a bag of chips from my pantry, haha. I didn’t go to the store for candy, so that’s the best I could do. 🐇🐇🐇Happy Easter to those who celebrate. ✌🏼
I like looking at big houses, but I would rather live in a small one.
What's your favorite song from the 2000s?
Pretty big fan of Adele and Of Monsters and Men. Mumford and Sons is pretty good. I don’t have one song in mind. I sort of don’t know many new bands, as I don’t listen to Billboard pop stations.
Weather is good this afternoon. Nice and clear. We’re expecting bad storms soon, however. Tis the season.
What kind of friend would you say you are to the ones you have? 🤔😊
I answered this a couple of years ago. I asked them and they responded (paraphrased) “charitable, compassionate, artistic, a strong advocate, inspirational, and a good cook”. lol
