Are people geared to care primarily about others who more so resemble themselves?

I think a lot people make others who are like them a priority because they relate more and are more likely to put themselves in their shoes. This could be a conscious decision or a subconsious one, but their mind tells them that if this person who is like them is dealing with whatever, that it can happen to them too. And that triggers empathy in certain people.
It’s not set in stone. There are people who have a broader view of humanity as a whole, and are perhaps educated or at least cultured enough to realize that people who appear different really aren’t that different from them at all. And if they are, it’s simply not a valid reason to disregard them or think of them less.
Some people with deeply humanitarian views and goals choose to specifically reach out to people who are different from them, perhaps because they recognize their own privilege and feel strongly about achieving equality.
And unfortunately, people exist who serve only themselves. They’ll help someone, but only if they believe they will personally benefit from the result.
I do think the majority falls into the first category, as you stated. I hope that by bringing this to light, we can encourage others to be self-aware, accepting, and empathic with their life choices.

What was the last song you got stuck in your head?

Music from Let’s Go Eevee is stuck in my head at the moment.

What are you making for dinner tonight? ______ I am making a pot of gumbo and some potato salad with it and some yummy hawaiian crescent rolls. 🍲

I made greens overnight, flavored with ham. I’ll probably make mashed potatoes topped with Arabella cheese to go with it, and have applesauce later in the evening. I’m on a soft food diet due to digestive disease. Your dinner sounds fab. I make gumbo a few times a year.

Well certainly the second is the lie

Nah, believe it or not there’s a site called Geni who has one side of my family connected all the way back to “Odin, King of Sweden and Denmark”. What’s fascinating about Norse Mythology is that it ties in with actual history. Odin might have existed, and might have been a king. He wasn’t a god of course, but myths frequently revolve around people who were real. There are a ton of other examples, including the myths of David and Goliath, Noah and the flood, a blue child named Krishna who performed miracles...all of those stories have earlier origins than the holy books we’ve read them in. Those people easily could have existed. It’s the “magic” elements that give them legendary status, and that was written by humans who revered them. Consider it ancient fan fiction. 😁 But all of these men - Odin, his father Buri, Tor, Krishna, Noah, even Goliath in his above-average height (HGH disorder perhaps?) could have been real, which means they have a family line.
I don’t claim to be Odin’s offspring by any stretch, but it was fascinating to find that while researching my genealogy. 😁
The lie is the first one. I’ve never liked dating, and I’ve only been with three men.

What are your thoughts on the origin of life?

It’s probably intelligent design, but there’s no way to truly know. I do consider myself theist, but I don’t fit inside the average box because I’m not an idealist who declares “God is in control”, at least not anymore. Some people go crazy arguing God vs Science, as if the two can’t coexist. I believe they can. I also believe that nobody really knows the answer no matter what they claim. It’s all theory, because that’s all our consciousness is capable of. A theory can turn out to be true, or it can be nothing more than a wacky imagination. The subject is interesting, but not something I’m willing to fight about. My rabid evangelistic days are over, thankfully, and not a moment too soon.

Do you prefer to ask or answer questions? 🤔 Why? 😁

I prefer to answer. I guess I’m lazy and find answering easier, haha. I really don’t take the site very seriously. I’ve been here 7 years and only started asking questions two weeks ago. I figured VIP status would be cool to have for a little while. I’ll eventually get tired, fizzle out, and go back to being a nobody. 😂

Do you believe in another world?

Other worlds may very well exist. I’d like to believe in Heaven because it’s less scary than other ideas, but most major religions have their own versions of the afterlife. Somebody could be right or everybody could be wrong.
From an astronomical standpoint, there are so many other galaxies in existence, it would be haughty to think we’re the only living world out there. But who knows? I’m a realist most of the time and choose not to debate the possibilities. I’ll do my best to accept whatever comes. There’s not much else I can do.

When looking at someones AskFM profile, how far back to you read their already given answers?

Not very far. If I ask something someone doesn’t want to answer because it’s repetitive, that’s totally fine. This is an entertainment site. It’s just not that serious to me.

What are two true things and one lie about you?

- I dated a lot of men in my younger years.
- A genealogy website says I’m connected to legendary King Odin.
- I used to be a Bible scholar and a Sunday School teacher.
Now guess which one is the lie. 🙃

Have you ever participated in a demonstration? 🤔 How was it? What was it for? 😁

I used to give painting demonstrations at craft stores and shopping malls.

I’ve been drawing and painting since 2006. Here’s a large colored pencil piece that was featured in a few art shows in Mississippi. The glare is terrible. Sorry about the weird angle.
