I’m wearing regular clothes right now. I still leave the apartment to drive around unless I’m too weak.
Which network's shows did you watch most as a kid? Like Disney, Nickelodeon etc. 📺 Any particular show you remember fondly? 😁
My shows were mostly on mainstream network TV. Cartoons were huge in the 80s and could be found on the major networks daily. I watched all things Warner Bros (Bugs Bunny and all affiliates), and a lot of Hanna-Barbara (Scooby, Flintstones, Tom & Jerry). Garfield, Care Bears, The Littles, TMNT, and the original Voltron were also popular. I was a TMNT fanatic. When I got older and Nickelodeon debuted (yes, I am THAT old!), I did watch it, but it was mostly not animated at first. There was an edgy show called You Can’t Do That On Television which was where “slime” originated and Alanis Morissette’s career launched. I enjoyed MTV, Nick At Nite, Tiny Toons, and Animaniacs in my teens. Eventually Ren & Stimpy showed up, and that’s when things started going to crap and now we have Adult Swim, which is maximum suckage.Disney channel didn’t exist in my area until much later, so it wasn’t something I grew up with. I did of course see Disney movies and cartoons, but not often and not on their own channel.I wanted to be a voice actor for the longest time. I used to practice cartoon voices. I still find myself occasionally doing silly impressions today. My parents and older brother had that habit too.
I am NOT having children. My #1 names were John Christian (JC) and Summer Rose years ago. Also on the list were Louis, Martin, Benjamin, Brendan, Megan, Genevieve, Brenna, Cherish, Annalise, and Rose as a first name.My bro and sis in law are naming their baby John, so that name is now used (rightfully so, since it is also my bro’s name). If a baby miraculously fell into my lap right now, the names would probably be Louis or Rose.I am NEVER having children.
My first semester of college, I ended up in the hospital having two procedures for kidney stones. I was out 2.5 weeks of a nine week term. My teachers told me I was doomed and said I should drop out. I told them I would catch up in spite of being heavily drugged. I passed 25 stone fragments, suffered the worst physical pain of my life, and still managed to make up almost all of my work, get A’s on my speeches and finals, and walk out of there on the Dean’s list. Like a BOSS. 👊🏼
That’s pretty harsh, but without knowing the situation, I have no right to judge. I have a cousin who died of Anorexia. In spite of many interventions, she died a horrible death at age 40. My mom struggled with BDD as well, and God knows she was impossible. You can care all day, but that doesn’t mean they’ll find the help to get well. However, don’t underestimate the potential of caring. There are plenty of people alive today because someone cared.
