1. Defo have a strict and rigid grading system, not one that changes every year (i.e. set an A to be at a certain mark, like 80 or 90, and keep it at that instead of lowering it every year to get more A’s). 2. More holistic education- liberal arts, psychology, economics, finance classes for students so that they are aware of what’s going on outside of their little bubbles. 3. Maths and Science in English, not Malay. 4. Better literature books for students, and not some stupid novels. 5. Integrate work experience or placement into every program. 6. Less negative stigma on arts or non-science programs (i.e. culinary, hotel management, literature, photography, journalism, etc).
Quality-wise I think it’s pretty subjective, depending on what perspective you’re looking from. Sure, we’re probably churning out more A’s students every year, but the quality of fresh graduates may not be improving or students may end up being more of a robot instead of a holistic student with skills that they can actually use, so what’s the point in all those A’s?
Syaza, u ada ambik actuarial exams ke? How was it? How did u prepare?
I took only one paper (FM, in Dec 2014), which I failed (understandably, since I did not actually prep for it well). Now, I don’t think I’d be taking any other actuarial exams, considering how I’m jumping ships and pursuing a career some other place (specifically in Higher Education / or just Education in general). I think to prepare for the exams, you just need a HELL LOT of practice. Like, legit, a LOT. Say, probably abou 200-400 hours spent on practicing past exams and understanding how to answer and how to use the calculators (if you’re using a financial calculator and are still not used to it). Time yourself in doing the exams, make sure you know how to manage your time, etc. You can also use one of the many resources online to prepare for the exams, like Coaching Actuaries, which will help guide you and time you, and have options for you to start working on questions that are simpler and level up to harder questions. That beind said, Coaching Actuaries is a paid service (I believe), but personally I think they’re pretty reliable and useful.
What is your interpretation of 'It's complicated' relationship status?
You two like each other but both are too proud or shy to say it to each other, but you act like a couple anyways.
If you could steal anything from anyone around the world,
what would it be and who'd you steal it from?
I want to steal his heart and attention
What is the main reason for you to refuse a date?
I am already in a committed relationship, so defo will refuse a date.
Yes we contacted each other. But mainly about class stuffs and all but we tend to drag a little bit. And i always wanted to contact her but held myself as i love my gf 😔 but i cant deny i'm attracted to the new girl
If you’re really in love with your gf, you won’t have time to be attracted to other girls, nor would you want to be. Be loyal boy. Be loyal. Sure, there would be temptations and other girls that may be better, more beautiful, smarter, or more flawless than your current girl. But if you keep on chasing other people, instead of appreciating what you already have, you won’t ever be satisfied, and you will forever be looking for something new.
Whose advice would you trust more – that of someone you love or that of your best friend's?
My best friends are the ones that I love, so obviously I’ll listen and trust them.
Are you a Grammar Nazi? What do you think of bad grammar or spelling?
I would probably say yes to that, I am somewhat of a Grammar Nazi. I do get (slightly) annoyed at bad grammar, be it online or in the newspapers or anywhere else. Not to say my grammar’s perfect, ‘cause I can hardly explain why a sentence is built in a certain way and what’s the different between past tense and past participle and all that shit. My way of writing is based on my gut feelings, and if the words roll off my tongue easily and make sense in my head or when I say it out loud. But I get it though, as not everyone was born like me (though I was probably not born this way, it’s perhaps due to the hundreds of books I read growing up like Enid Blyton’s and all), so I don’t get too annoyed and (try) whenever I can to help out here and there.
do you know any Spanish?
Hola, como estas?
single/taken/talking?
Stolen, by an annoying little boy at the back of the class.
What is your opinion on mentally disabled people?
Do you find them as a liability to the society?
Everyone is an asset to the world in their own ways, be it big or small. Mentally or different-abled people are unique in their own special ways, as they can sometimes have talents or skills that are wayyyyyy outside my dreams, so hell yeah they’re an asset to the world.
If you've done something embarassing,
do you prefer to be sympathised or to be ignored, by the people around you?
Ignored, obviouslyz.
Would you prefer to be a Secretary or Treasurer?
Neither. I’d either be President or Co-President. Lewls.
if someone ur usually mean to told u they were in love with u which is why the bugged you, how would u feel and what would u say
Meh stop bugging me and go away.
Do you wish to be more appreciated?
Don’t everyone feel like they’re under-appreciated?But, the thing is, if you do things so that people would look up to you and remember your deeds and kindness, are you really genuine in the first place?Do things but don’t expect appreciation or gratitude from others. Sometimes you may get them, but most of the time you won’t get anything back, but as long as you know what you’ve done and know that He is looking and will reward you for all the good things you’ve done, that’s good enough.
