How do you break the ice with the westerners? Might be partly because i'm socially awkward, but I really wanna join all sorts of activities and societies. If I can't get through this hurdle, then I don't see any point in showing up to an activity but not really connecting with people.

This really helps in explaining. Go to these events, show them what you can do, what you have in common, and use that as a starting point for new connections. It does help :)

do you have friends from electrical electronics engineering?

I almost said no, but then I remembered that I do. Why?

so just because of over analyze and over think stuff tu je instict akan tak betul?

The original question asked if 'a woman's (or girl's) instinct is usually right', and my answer is nope.
It may be, it may not be. But most of the time if it's wrong, it's mostly due to the over-analyzing and over-thinking.

Want to make more friends? Try this: Tell us what you like and find people with the same interests. Try this: + add more interests + add your interests

I'm amazed by the amount of friends you've made over the years, be it in Malaysia or elsewhere. It's like you're almost never alone when you travel & that's really nice. I've been reading your blog & to see how many friends you have, made me slightly envious but far more amazed. How do you do it?

One word: Connections.
Okay, one of the reasons I think I know a lot of people is because I moved around a lot. Like, seriously. From SSP -> KTJ -> INTEC, I never really stayed put in a place for the whole deal (except for INTEC). So that's probably one of the reasons. I met a lot of people from the places I go to, the schools, my classmates, my batchmates, their friends (if they mention their friends and all).
Another reason is that I know people is because I kind of like to do a lot of stuff. Conferences, activities here and there. You get to meet new people and expand your networks and hey, what's a better way to make friends than saying, "Oh, you like doing this? Me too!" or "Oh hey, we went to the same conference together!" or "We were in a group together at that program, remember?"
You also know a lot of people from stalking (yes, I stalk, sometimes). If I see someone's name keeps coming up on my Instagram feed or News Feed on Facebook or something (ie my friend(s) mentioning them or talking about them or posting their pictures), I would usually go and look them up and try to see who they are and what they do / study and stuff like that. And if I feel like there's something in common that would allow us to be friends, I'd just randomly add people (though I don't do much of this lately), and start talking.
Ultimately, it's how you create connections from the people around you. Ever heard of the Six Degrees of Separation? Between you and a random person you meet in the streets, you'd probably have less than 6 degrees or levels of connections.
An example would be like, a random stranger that I meet on the street may have a friend (1) who has a sister (2) who goes to a school where this teacher (3) teaches, and the teacher (3) turns out to be the mother (4) of a boy (5) in the class next to mine. (Made up story, but you get the idea, right?)
So, the point of the story is: GO and TALK to people. You'd never know who you'd meet and what you'll have in common. :D

not really to maksud nya macam mana? dia tak belek langsung or dia just belek randomly? :3

Not really as in kebiasaannya dia tak check. Most interviews suka jadi 'behavioral-based' interview, as in jawab case studies, group discussions, one-on-one interview and tanya questions about the companies or about yourself.
What you could do is like at the end of the interview, kalau dia tanya, "Do you have anything to ask or add?", boleh la casually mention about your certificates, or cakap some of the achievements that you've done and tunjuk bukti in the file ke apa.

kan!! tu la macam malas nk bersungguh sangat prepare sijil2. boleh ke?? macam ni :(

Kalau kau tahu hari tu ada possibility untuk hujan, and kau akan ada kat luar for the whole day tanpa teduhan, kau akan bawa ke tak payung?
Fikir-fikirkan. Better be safe than sorry bruh.

Is there any of your friends who are currently majoring in Economics who wouldn't mind to be contacted by a fellow Economics enthusiast? If there is any, may I ask for his/her contact details?

Calling @knazran (Ask.fm alias) or @khairulnazran (Twitter). :)

what if we dont apply for any courses whatsoever,we just apply for scholaships.boleh ke?

Kalau apply for scholarships apa-apa pun, dia akan tanya nak buat course (aka major) apa. Like, Bank Negara Malaysia hanya akan sponsor for students wanting to do things like Banking, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics, etc. Petronas is more to Engineering courses. JPA & MARA yang lagi general, tapi kena la pilih program mana nak buat.

Hi,this question is cliche tapi i just had to.Sorry.Saya tengah tunggu result SPM and nak sambung A-Levels in UK.So,question is apply course dulu ke apply scholarship dulu?

ADAMRR’s Profile PhotoAdam Rosli
You have different options in the paths that you can take:
(1) Tunggu results SPM keluar. Once dah keluar, tengok results and see which scholarships you are eligible to apply, and then apply for them. Kalau dapat, scholar yang akan tentukan which pre-u program you'd be doing and where, and which country you'd do to (usually they'd let you choose two or three options masa apply, and then they'll make the final decision).
(2) Sambung A-Levels privately, either before or after dapat results. Once dah dapat placement university kat UK (normally about 1.5 years into A-Levels), boleh apply for scholarships then.

Syaza you said before that one of your seniors in KTJ influenced you in taking Actuarial Science. Would you mind to share his words? :')

Tak ingat lahhh :( It wasn't much of a 'persuasion' or something, but just the fact that he gave me a little bit of insight on Actuarial Science that got me intrigued. Tu je :)

I'm sorry sis, the deadline for wisconsin is extended to February 15 isn't it?

For transfer applicants, yes. Not for freshmen.

Assalamualaikum kak. Nak tanya ni, for UW-Madison, the deadline is on february 2 kan? Do they have specific time kena hantar on that date?? Like february 2 no later than 12.00 PM for example

Wa'alaikumsalam. Deadline is February 2nd, 11:59pm Pacific Time. Which is February 3rd, 1:59am Central time. Which is about February 3rd, 3:59pm Malaysia time (if I'm not mistaken. Go double check on your own)

You don't mind people younger than you calling you syaza without kak?

No, I don't. To be honest, I rather have them call me Syaza je.

Boleh ke scholar jpa/mara buat overseas practical/intern/student exchange kat negara lain selain dari negara yang diorang belajar tu?

Study abroad program most likely susah gila nak dapat approval. Intern or practical, I'm not too sure.

ada tak malaysians yang ambik geology course (undergraduates and postgraduates) kat uni wisconsin madison?

Ada jaaa.
