Cah i put my English teacher's name as my counselor? Because i feel that she knows about me a lot more than my real school counselor.

Sure. As long as she can write stuff about you, anyone would work. Heck, for me, I didn't even use any of the teachers who taught me during Forms 4 & 5 in KTJ. I actually used the discipline teacher / proctor (currently vice-principal), 'cause I felt like he would be able to write more about me and all. :)

In addition to that, they also ask for "high school transcript" which i understand, but then on the list, in the next line, they also ask for "school report (counselor recommendation and transcript)". Does the "high school transcript" and "transcript" in the latter are the same?

Also somewhat the same thing. Normally, schools in the US issue a 'school report' or a 'school profile' in which they list how their students rank and all, and where you fall in the rank. Not that important though. Just a transcript and that your counselor(s) / teacher(s) can attest for your academic abilities, that's good enough.

Assalamualaikum kak syaza. In one of my unis, it is stated that they require "teacher evaluation". What does that mean? Is it the same as teacher's recommendation letter?

Wa'alaikumsalam. Yep, basically the same thing.

'Cause I'm like not interested anymore. Lol. Okay I'm not uninterested. I'm just hungry. So probably that's why I can't focus on studying.

I'll be having my final exams in like, next two weeks? :'D I swear I'm freaking out already hahaha as I don't think I'm 100% ready. If you were in my place, what will you do?

I have my final exam in like, 8 hours. And here I am. Lol.

Do u usually stay up malam2 studying or what? I could really use some studying tips from you. :3

Ahh yes, I stay up late at night. I don't really do much studying other than later at night, I guess that's how my brain is. Hahahha. And I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask about studying tips though:(

Assalam sis.my teacher had given me a reference letter and theres a typo. Idk what was i thinking but i corrected it using a pen. ive already send it to intec for them to send it to the unis. Will correcting the typo affect my application? I know it sounds stupid but im so paranoid over this thing.

Waalaikumsalam. Takde pape pun. Lek dah.

Hahaha suka hati je kan assume that's your dad! Nama sama doesn't mean they're actually the same person...

Ahaha takpelah tersalah anggap tu :)

(p.s That's not my Dad, if you're wondering)

Hai kak! Elaun yang mara bagi tu cukup tak?akak kerja apa kat sana?

It's supposed to be enough if you know how to manage it properly. I work basically to cover my other spending and trips and travels. And I work at the library and the admissions office.

Assalamualaikum kak syaza . can i steal your time for awhile ? im sory for disturbing you . can i know whats the different between Edexcel Alevel and CIE Alevel ? Im taking CIE Alevel and ive been planning to further in medic . but most of my friend are doing edexcel so im a bit worried . i had bee

Waalaikumsalam. Not much differences, just that they are offered by different examination boards, that's all.

Do we need to send our scores (TOEFL and SAT) via mail, or is it adequate enough to send it just through online? (through collegeboard and ETS)

Nope. Though, if you're in INTEC, Encik Din would just send a copy of it in your dossier anyway, but there's no need for it. Universities would only accept official test scores from the testing agencies (ETS, CollegeBoard) themselves, so sending them in on your own wouldn't make it official anyway.

I've been checking out your tinyurl link lately. and i was wondering, how do you get a printed copy of the SAT (the one with the score and college profile)? Because my printed report only displays the score and not together with the profile, unlike yours.

I got that from Encik Din (the counselor responsible in INTEC for university applications). That's basically the score reports that CollegeBoard would send to you (or to other universities) if you ask them to send score reports. So for us, Encik Din told us to get CollegeBoard to send a copy of the score report to INTEC. And at the end, you can ask him for a copy of it to keep, if you want.
Or, you can either ask CollegeBoard to send you a copy of the score report for your records. :)

Assalamualaikum kak syaza, can you explain to me what is application material receipt? When i read about it on colleges' websites, i kind of get lost in the middle. I saw some phrases like "tracking your materials", but what does that mean exactly? Sorry if im disturbing you! Hope u can help me :)

Wa'alaikumsalam.
So basically when you apply to universities, some of them (if not most) allow you to 'track' the materials that you've sent in to them. This means you can know which materials you've given them, and what other materials are needed for the application process (such as transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, TOEFL score, letter of recommendation, etc).
The 'application material receipt' part, well, I'm not sure about other universities' admissions process, but for UW-Madison, applicants have a 'reasonable amount of time' after the deadline to send in additional materials and all. So, say like the deadline for the First Fall Notification Period for freshmen for Fall 2015 was November 3rd. Applicants can send in their online application before November 3rd, but they have up until December 2nd (as stated on the website) to send in other required or additional materials (transcripts, test scores, resumes, etc).
So yeah, that's basically it :)

I'm doing A Levels and am planning to apply to a handful of American colleges (including ivies), what and how do you recommend I go about this?

I'm not completely sure on what is you exact question, so whatever my answer(s) is/are here, I hope it/they answer(s) your question.
1. Most A-Levels students would apply to the U.S. as a freshman. That being said, some of your A-Levels classes will be able to be transferred over to the universities, depending on their policy. Check with the universities on their policy with A-Levels credits.
2. If you are in the normal, 2-year A-Levels and your results are released in August and you're coming to the U.S. in the Fall semester (August / September), you may fall into some sort of problem with your final A-Levels results. Some students at my university, for example, have had a 'hold' on their account since the university has not received their final A-Levels transcripts. I'm not sure on how it is at the other universities, but I'm betting it'd have some sort of the similar effects as well. So depending on where you took your A-Levels, ensure that there is someone there (parents, teachers, etc) that can quickly mail you your official A-Levels results so you can give it to the university (mind you, they only accept official results, so try not to open the envelope before you give it to them. And fret not, they can make official copies of it for you so you can keep the original copies).
3. Moving from A-Levels (UK Education system) to the US Education system may be a bit of a hard time, so prepare yourself well. Personally, I prefer the US system better since it's more flexible and all, but if that's what you are looking for, then it would suit you better.
Err. What else?
I'm at a dead end now. If you have any other specific questions, let me know and I'll try my best :)

You are so hebat ehehehehe i love how u answered my questions hehe thank you so much may Allah bless you.

All good things are from Allah, and all the bad things are from my own weaknesses. Thank you, and may Allah bless you too :)

Do you think by reading an oxford dictionary would help me improve my english?

Reading, like actually reading an Oxford dictionary?
Maybe. But I won't waste my time there if I were you. Instead, I'd go and buy novels or magazines and read those instead.
Reading an actual reading material is so much better than the dictionary 'cause:
1) You get to see the different sentence structures and how to actually use the words.
2) It's fun and not boring
3) The dictionary's full of words you'd never actually use in real life but magazines and novels and all have the words people usually use, so it's more relatable.

Hiiii im form 4 this year, which means...spm next year sobssobs i dont think i've done great enough this year and my results are just..........bad..... I really want to study overseas but idk im not confident and im not sure if i could get straight a's for spm..

Hello there :)
Don't worry too much. You still have time to cover and catch up with the rest. Just make sure you use this school holidays wisely and read back on all the topics for Form 4 that you are weak in. Go through the textbooks, write notes and do exercises. You have almost a year to prepare yourself, which is more than enough time, trust me. If you put in enough effort and hard work into it, you can do well. Just make sure that you are consistent in your work (ie put in 2 hours of studying each day is so much better than studying 10 hours every other weekend or whenever there's an exam coming up).
Good luck :)
