Mostly engineering, mostly Ontario. However, generally speaking, educational inflation is a global phenomenon.

Salam Alaikom, This last Ramadan I attended taraweeh where they read the Burda afterwards. I researched it and there were multiple opinions on it. I wanted to know your take?

A community is defined by the city limits, and an employer has no right over the employee during the time of Jumua, and hence you're obliged to go and attend Jumua at a mosque, in which a minimum of forty men attend.

I said ask someone else from the start 😐, a Maliki or Hanafi would give you an easier opinion.

Belief test ==> Umm well,I do worry about bad deeds,more like I don't want to go to hell than I love Allah. I do the minimum of good deeds,and constantly feel the urge to get Islam's restrictions off me. What are your thoughts?

It's natural, and a sign of true faith = The fact that you call them urges and try to suppress them.
There are three levels of required patience in Islam: Patience with worship (i.e. to put up with it when you're down and tired), patience with sins (i.e. to restrain yourself from committing them when you're desiring them), and patience with destiny (i.e. to accept the calamities that God Almighty destined, and have certainty that He planned it for your own benefit.

Is it makruh to fold the trousers and pray in the Hanbali Madhhab?

alaikum Assalam, it is makruh unanimously, Imam nawawi reported ijmaa' (consensus), of the Salaf, for the hadeeth if the prophet in Bukhaari and Muslim: "I was ordered to prostate on seven bones [...] and not to fold up the hair or the outfit."

Salam Alaikom, Can we pray jummah in a restricted area. A secure work area that only allows access to employees. Or does it have to be one open to the Muslim public?

Alaikum Assalam akhi, it's one of greatest pieces of literature ever written in praise of the Prophet peace be upon him. So many scholars have memorised it, explained it and taught it over centuries, including imam assaffareeni, imam ibn Hajr, sheikhul Islam Zakariyya AlAnsaari, Ibn Hesham the linguist, Jalal addin almahalli the exegesist, and alHaafidh Assuyooti, and others, may Allah have mercy on them all. A couple of verses were found questionable by some scholars of ahl assunnah, and it became a top argument issue by contemporary Salafis last few decades, some even said it is forbidden to read it. However, every verse among those questionable ones has room for interpretation such that they're not controversial anymore. If you'll study it make sure you read an explanation by any of the scholars above.
A public and/or group reading is fine as long as there are no public sins and bida'.

When I said a "small but reasonable walima", I didn't include a budget for an entire wedding cake, either because a friend of the bride could do this, or you can skip it and just go for a lamb or two with rice, drinks and simple dessert.

May Allah bless you. I just faced some difficulty in answering a question directed by my friends: We know that Abu Bakr (r) was the greatest Sahabi but then how is it that if there was to be a Prophet after our Prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) it would've been 'Umar (r)?

There are many answers to this
1. First the hadeeth is really weak, considered invalid by Imam Ahmed and others.
2. Second, that prophethood required a set of excellent merits, that had Umar become a prophet, his merits would have been improved to become better than Abu Bakr.
3. Thirdly, and most importantly, that prophethood is not earned, but is awarded exclusively by Allah's wisdom. So the would-be hadeeth could be understood that Although Abu Bakr is the best of mankind after prophets, Umar was the would-have-been successor of prophethood.
And Allah knows best.

Hiding a shameful past that one has repented from, is not deceit. Allah loves concealment of sins. The suitor should not try to dig up past, but chose according to present personality and future goals.

السلام عليكم - هل يصح على المذهب أن أي نية ترفع الحدث الأكبر مثلا إن نويت الغسل للجمعة فيرفع الحدث؟ كيف إذا الجمعة لا تلزم الغسل لصحتها أو إباحتها؟ أليس الضابط أنه لا بد أن تكون النية لشيء لا يجوز أو يصح إلا بالطهارة؟ مثل مسح القرآن والطواف إلخ

عليكم السلام، نعم على أحد القولين في المذهب، قال الإمام البهوتي: "وإن نوى من عليه جنابة غسلا مسنونا كغسل الجمعة (قال الدجيلي في الوجيز: ناسيا) أجزأ عن واجب [...] وكذا عكسه أي: إن نوى واجباً أجزأ عن المسنون، وإن نواهما حصلا، والأفضل أن يغتسل للواجب ثم للمسنون كاملاً"

3. Your question has got dude written all over it. I can count more than ten male biases in that question. But generally speaking: men can cope better than women with unexpected suffering and pain (like accidents and death), women can cope better than men with expected suffering and pain (like breakups, and childbirth). That's why women always suffer the most right after the breakup - if it was unexpected to her, then get better soon after, while men start to suffer after a couple of weeks. May Allah grant us chastity, piety and focus on pleasing Him.

الحمد لله على سلامتك، حضر نفسك تيجي لجوء على كندا لو فاز المعتوه ده.
هناك طريقتان لعمل الجبنة، إما بإضافة إنفحة وأنزيمات حيوانية (مثل الرينيت والليباس)، أو باستخدام إنفحة وأنزيمات بكتيرية.
أما الأجبان المصنوعة من إنفحة البكترية فهي حلال بلا خلاف، وغالبا هي اجبان طرية، إما تتفتت أو تدهن على الخبز أو تقطع بسهولة بالسكين، مثل الفيتا والريكوتا والموتزاريلا والبروكوتشيني والتشيدر المعتدل mild cheddar.
وقرأت بحثا تسويقيا في عام 2012 مفاده أن 18% من الأجبان في السوق الأمريكي هي من إنفحات حيوانية، لأن البكتيريا رخيصة، ولأن استخدامها ينتج أجبانا كوشر (يعني سوق أكبر)، ولأن انتاجها يخرج مصل اللبن الكوشر (kosher whey) والذي هو من المواد التي تدخل في أغلب المواد الغذائية.
وأما المصنوعة بإنفحة الحيوانات، فهي إما من أنعام مذكاة شرعا، أو غير مذكاة شرعا، أو من خنازير، والغالب على الأجبان التي تستخدم الإنفحات الحيوانية الأجبان المعتّقة (لأن الإنفحات الحيوانية أغلى من البكتريا، فتستخدم في الأصناف المعتقة التي تكون أغلى). والأجبان المعتقة: ما كان يصعب قطعها بالسكين ولها رائحة قوية وطعم قوي، مثل السويسري والتشيدر المعتّق والبارميجان والرومانو والبروفولون.
وإذا كانت من أنعام مذكاة شرعا ستجد علامة الحلال على الجبن (ليس هناك أي مصانع أجبان حلال في شمال أمريكا حسب علمي، وإنما هي مستوردة غالبا من بلاد عربية)، وإذا كانت من إنفحات مذكاة من طعام أهل الكتاب ستجد علامة الكوشر (وستجد بعض المحال التجارية عندها رف أو صف كامل مخصص للمنتجات الكوشر، بضمنها الأجبان).

وكثير من الأجبان التجارية المعتّقة في أمريكا وكندا = إنفحات الخنزير.

الخلاصة: كونك مسلم مهتم بدينك يقتضي أن تسأل وتستقصي بنفسك، وتقرأ محتويات كل منتج تشتريه بحثا عن مواد محرمة أو مشبوهة، ومع الخبرة والسؤال ستعرف أن هناك شركات لا تستخدم الإنفحات الحيوانية مطلقا، وهناك أصناف من الجبن لا غبار عليها غالبا. كما يمكنك تحميل برنامج لطيف اسمه سكان حلال scan halal، يخبرك عن المنتج الذي بيدك هل هو حلال ام حرام ام فيه شبهة، البرنامج لطيف وجيد وجهد مشكور لكن يفتقر إلى التخيير في المسائل الفقهية، فهو يعتمد مذهبا فقهيا واحدا حتى في المسائل الخلافية، وأحيانا قد يكون فيه مشقة. فإن رضيت لنفسك أن تأخذ بالأورع فهو مناسب لك. أسأل الله أن يحفظك بحلاله عن حرامه ويغنيك بفضله عمن سواه.

Best walima is the one done at a mosque, open to people who come and go. Cost depends the size of the mosque, the time of the walima, the meat, the cook and the accessories.

Having said that (and having hosted many gatherings over food) I think a small (but reasonable) walima/nikkah in Ottawa can be done within $400-800.
