Is it allowed to eat Poutine? (From a not particularly halal restaurant). I read in one place the meat content is pretty low in the gravy and it's okay to eat but I am not sure?

NY Fries, and several other leading poutine franchises, use vegetarian based gravy.
If it was meat gravy, and you follow the opinion not to eat that meat, then you may not eat that poutine.

Is franchising a restaurant that serves pork/non-halal meat allowed? Obviously, we won't eat from it but it would be part of the contract with the Franchisor

If you're required to serve it, such as a subway franchise, then no, it is prohibited.
If you can opt out of pork products, such as Popeyes franchise, then yes.

Sure, pray in any time of day that makes you feel better about it. The earlier you finish them, the better.

Nevertheless, if her father is refusing the marriage for no good reason (he's excellent in manners and faith, comes from a good family and has a good income), then they can seek a Muslim judge to rule that the father is unfit to be her guardian. The next would be her grandfather (dad's dad) and up, then brother, then uncles and great uncles (dad's side), if none of these males are alive, Muslim and fit, then it goes back to the judge and the judge/imam becomes her guardian.
I can't authenticate the source you mentioned in your second post, but the second explanation he puts forth that the marriage without wali is valid but sinful is not acceptable, no scholar has come up with this ever. Even the minority Hanafi opinion that makes it lawful for the previously married woman to marry herself without a guardian (contrary to the mainstream opinion in all four mathaahib), accepts this hadeeth but limits it to a girl's first marriage.

A brother doesn't pay taxes on some of his (private) earnings. He says that the government uses most of the money for the production of weapons which are used to kill our brothers & sisters. I'm confused now, is this permissible?

Taxes are prohibited, a Muslim government must seek income without leeching on its citizens. A Muslim living in a country that requires taxes to be paid must do all possible means to pay as little taxes as possible. In Canada, tax avoidance is acceptable, e.g. putting money in a TFSA, but not tax evasion. Hence do what you can to minimize payment of taxes, without getting yourself in trouble.

Asalamu alaykum sheikh, What is the proper hijab for a muslimah? Is wearing a piece of cloth that covers the head and the chest with loose clothing enough? Or is the jilbab that reaches the hips or lower necessary? Also, if a pair of pants are loose and not fitted, are they permissible?

Alaikum assalam,
1. As to the head cover it must
a. Cover the entire head (ears and neck included)
b. Drape over the chest, covering the area of the cleavage and the breasts.
2. As to the clothes must be
a. Loose (does not reveal the curves of the body)
b. Opaque (is neither transparent nor translucent)
c. Modest (is not attractive in itself)
d. Pious (does not imitate the fashion of defiant or sinful women)
All other details, including colour, trims, cultural fits, would be according to one's own setting.

Simple. God calls one type of intercourse Zawaaj, and permits it. Calls other types Zina, and prohibits it. The criterion is God's law, not the consensual agreement of two adults.
That's why, extra marital affairs, pre marital affairs, prostitution, ONSs, NSAs, and rape, are all major sins in Islam, with a variance in the magnitude of the sin.

Undo braids, wash hair and scalp thoroughly.
In our mathhab you don't need to undo your braids except in the ghusl after mensuration. As for the ghusl from janaabah and wudu, you can keep them (pour water three times over them in ghusl and wipe over them in wudu)
