As we didn't create our bodies, we don't have the absolute freedom over them like secular people claim. All of our bodies belong to God and we're entrusted over them.
Having said this, all forms of temporary contraceptives are permissible in Islam granted both husband and wife agree on it. Neither a husband is allowed to prevent his wife a child nor a wife is allowed to prevent her husband a child. Also, since it takes a full family to raise one, both parents must agree on having the baby.
