NoFail multiplies pp you get by 0.9 right? So, in theory, fcing a map that would give me 100 pp nomod will give me 90 pp, right? But nofail also multiplies score you get by 0.5, so instead of getting 10mil score you will get 5mil and still 90 pp. Does that mean that score isn't considered in new pp?

The score number isn't considered at all, so don't worry about that. NoFail truly is a 0.9 multiplier - no other effects.

http://ask.fm/Tom94/answer/108584436686 Could you explain a little bit about this "per-hitobject data"? What is it exactly and why is it so difficult to obtain?

It means knowing for every Circle, Slider and Spinner whether it was a 300, 100, 50 or miss instead of just having a 300-count, 100-count, 50-count and miss-count per score. It's difficult to obtain because it isn't stored anywhere. The only way to obtain it for old scores is to run a replay of the score - and even replays are not perfect.

You are so fucked based, thank you so much for saving the osu! ranking system. You are one sexy motherfucking dude that probably gets laid for his smarts every day by sexy asian girls. Keep up the good work!

very thank <3

Are you gonna fix all the #0s in multiplayer soon?

That's not an issue on my end. Try reporting it in the technical support forums.

http://ask.fm/Tom94/answer/108569226958 I feel like the difficulty in maintaining concentration is much less significant than the difference in difficulty across different parts of the map though - if the squares in BD's Mittens were at the end, there would be a ton of almost FCs instead of half FCs

That's why per-HitObject data would solve so many things.

http://ask.fm/Tom94/answer/108543197646 It's equally likely to get 10 heads then 1 tails as that you'll get 5 heads, 1 tails, then 5 more heads You're grouping all 1-miss scenario likelihoods together EXCEPT the 1-10 and 10-1 cases and I don't see what's special about them from your analogy.

Yeah, all possible scenarios with X misses are equally likely. But that's not what the point is. We are looking from the standpoint combos - that's a diffferent thing. Let's just keep the example with 11 coins and 10x success, 1x fail. The probability to have 10 subsequent successes (that is almost a full combo if looking at osu! again) is 2/11 (only 2 out of the 11 possible - equally likely - outcomes satisfies that) while achieving any combo below is harder. Actually it's easy to derive, that the expected combo with 1x miss is 75% of the map length. Therefore with one miss it'd technically be just as hard to FC, than to get _HALF_ combo from a probabilistic standpoint. As soon as we start factoring in more misses, the FC becomes harder and harder, though.
Also keep in mind, that this was only meant as an analogy - we are humans, not random coin tossers. Keeping your concentration up for a longer period is hard, and I'm pretty damn sure, that for us getting half-combo is a lot easier than getting a FC. :P

pls update tp one more time, i just did the most awesome score and you just abandoned it :( I still prefer TP over ppv2 considering you can actually see how much speed, accuracy etc you get. It's just that you see your progress easier over time. pls

tp will keep running for the next 3 months or so. Never said I'd shut it down immediately. ô.o

Are you abandoning tp? :(

I don't have an infinite amount of time at my disposal. So yeah, I will. Having control over the official ranking system I don't see any reason for tp to keep existing anyway.

Do you think it is or should be accepted to talk about hacks for osu! nowadays?

I doubt it's being allowed in public channels. Also I believe any discussion that encourages or helps with the use of hacks should be forbidden in any case.

will nf affect the difficulty of the map or the amount of pp/tp gained?

NF multiplies the gained pp by 0.9. Simply because it allows for getting pp at all despite not being able to normally finish the map. This also allows for viable pp scores on impossible to pass maps (for instance Heart of Witch + HardRock).

What's the benefit of using max combo instead of misses as the primary factor to determine how much of a map's aim/speed points a play deserves?

Maximum combo means how _long_ you managed to play without error, which the number of misses does not capture that aspect. If you want a probabilistic analogy: Think of hitting things as coin tosses (highly biased towards success, of course!).
Which of the two scenarios is more likely:
1) 10x head in a row, then 1x tails.
2) 10x head and 1x tails in any order.
(Answer: The second one is far more likely. In general it is harder to get a high success streak, than getting any success streak with the same amount of failures.)

What should I do when i always misposition my mouse when playing it gets kind of annoying

Disable acceleration. If that doesn't help enough, just use spinners and slower parts / sliders to quickly reposition your mouse. Usually works well for me.

What DPI would you recommend at 1366x768 resolution

Something between 400 and 1000 sounds fine. Go for your personal preference.

So did peppy come to you to ask for help with ppv2, or did you just work your way in over time?

He was the one who contacted me a week ago, but I always publicly made clear, that I'd be willing to help with difficulty measures and rankings - so I guess it was from both sides.

now new pp system is the straightly the same as tp? i found some ranks varies and differ from tp

It's not the same, but it is similar. There are some very specific changes in map weighting and in the way scores get counted to allow for more farming in the lower ranks while still keeping it mostly skill-based in the higher ranks.
