Will mod-specific scoreboards also solve the issue of replacing same-mod scores with a lower pp score? eg accidentally overwriting a 3x100 hdhr with a 5x100 but higher score hdhr

No.

Instead of acc, aim, and speed weighting you should weight per mod. 33% for hr, 33% for dt, 33% for no mod. Hd and fl are just for extra pp. This way we won't have players that are only good at one thing be so overpowered and would be greatly penalized

I literally dismissed this idea and explained the reasons last week. Scroll down.

I remember you saying something like "I can't buff slider heavy maps without making fast repeat sliders overweighted". Well, on fast repeat sliders, the cursor pretty much stays on the same place. If the distance the cursor travels is taken into account, then why would they be overweighted?

I don't recall ever saying what you quoted. Mind showing me which answer you are referring to? Then I can give you more insight.

Do you think that cs5 hr was buffed too much? every hr player seems to be trying to farm them now

It's way too early to say anything definite. So far I haven't seen any maps which were tooo far out of order, though. Feel free to report some in the feedback thread if you feel like they deserve it.

> mod-specific scoreboards supporters only?

No idea if they are supporter-only. The per-mod highscores themselves will work for all players, including non-supporters, though.

how different is the star diff of a map before submition and after ;-;?

Why would it be different? It's the same. In the case of mania where the online difficulty is displayed slightly differently than the ingame difficulty this results from a bug which has not been tracked down yet.

so teh per mod thing since rrtyui has SS on gangsta so he didnt gain any pp from his hddt scores on it when this thing gets applied he'll get pp from his dt scores since they give higher pp than from his ss fc?

No. It only works for scores made after the change is introduced.

Is there anything coming in the near future to be hyped about?

I'm pretty hyped about visiting my girlfriend during eastern! In terms of osu! related stuff from me there probably won't be that much in the near future due to lectures + associated work having begun again.

so for the per mod score thing will say azer get both 450pp from his united HR score and 493 from his HDHR score? if so that's a bit unfair to players like pupuja and _index who don't often play with hidden.

Does anyone else get a déjà-vu? I feel like I got this question before already once... or twice... or like 100 times.
Read my previous answer again carefully. It contains the answer to your problem.

I don't really understand how per-mod leaderboards will affect pp. Will you automatically get the pp from the highest pp play on that map regardless of how the mods affect the score?

Yes, highest possible pp from all per-mod highscores.

http://ask.fm/Tom94/answer/125565040590 You could solve this using a tree, with having nodes for each a 300, 100, 50 and miss. In the end, one of the 4**maxcombo possibilities leads to the expected score, combo + acc. That would be ~10**1450 possibilities for FDFD. But still, it's possible.

It's not necessarily a unique answer. Multiple 2nd highest combos may lead to the same score.

Hello tom, how many hours do you spend per day on things relatived to osu! ? (playing the game, answer question about it, coding, read feedback thread...)

If you include the reading and answering parts probably 2-3h on average. Most of the days I can't really code much, but during free weeks I often spend many hours each day.

http://ask.fm/Tom94/answer/125611841486 Well tbh it's no surprise, since you give answers here daily, so even if it's not a question (like this) we know you'll prolly read it, while on the forums the constructive talk gets buried by "why didn't I get pp" spam and you might or might not see it all.

I read _all_ the posts in the feedback threads regularly.

why don't you create a FAQ of some sort or tell them about feedback forum and stuff. Just like how questions about pp are being buried, the answers telling them to post in feedback forum are also buried.

Should probably do that indeed. But hey, it should be common sense to first go with the official forums instead of giving that feedback on a website clearly designed for questions.

What do you think of the idea of not only taking the highest combo but also the second highest and calculate an "effective combo" which would then be used instead of the max combo, such that a single combobreak in the middle of the song (2 big combos essentially) would not be as punishing pp wise?

If you provide the magic for the pp calculator to know the 2nd biggest combo, then sure. While you are at that, would you also please transmit per-hitobject data for each score? :D

Based on recent answer: If you set values on different aspects of the game based on what's the feedback, with the upcoming high BPM stream buff you should be really generous with the values, as fast(~250+) streams are probably the hardest thing for any level player with RARE exceptions. Continue...

Don't expect too much from the change. Do you realize I use the word "try" very often? I can give no guarantees about what will actually work. It's not simple to change the algorithm with high precision. Adjustments at one place affect many other things.

Circles require only 1 action: hit, but sliders require more: hit and drag. So why not consider sliders more than circles when counting hitobject?

*sighs* Okay, I probably misformulated my previous answer. Sliders are in 99% of the cases worth _more_ than hitcircles because the distance that has to be followed is added to the distance of the next consecutive movement. It's just that getting slider 100s is almost never worth less than hitcircle 100s and almost always is worth more. Getting 300s on sliders gives always more aim points than getting 300s on hitcircles.

Ehm tom94, I'm seing maps like Shounen Radio at Gold difficulty are very anti pp plays. For an example that diff is considerably diffiicult, lots of streams at a respectable 196 bpm and spam of serius streams, because being OD7. A Semi pro play that doesn't give good pp compared to easier stuff.

Post such feedback in the pp feedback thread, please. This place is for questions. I think many people forget, that pointing out issues in here will likely result in them being forgotten by me within a few hours. When I'm working on pp I go to the feedback thread and use what's in there, not what I vaguely remember from my ask.fm.
