as a freshman, what is the maximum number of modules we can take in year 1?

Hi, regardless of you being a freshmen or not, until Round 3, CORS prevents you from taking more than 5 modules. However, in Round 3, you may bid for your 6th module and if you wish to take 7 modules, you would have to write in to BBA office to request for permission! :)

Hello there :) If i want to take economics as a minor, together with my main - BBA, how do we do that on the CORS portal? Or do we need to wait till 17th Aug for bidding of main business mods? Thanks so much!

Hi! In order to see if you are eligible to take Econs as a minor, you would need to call up the Econs department at FASS to check how you can go about this! :) Bidding of Main Business Modules have already started if you are a senior and for juniors, you should be pre allocated 4 modules, if not, you should approach BBA office to find out why this is the case!

Hi, a freshmen here! What does "BSP1004_A2/BSP1004_A3/BSP1004_A4" mean on the IVLE workspace? Do we get to choose which slot to attend? If not, is it like the case of tutorials where we have ballot OR do we simply follow the slot reflected on the CORS timetable (e.g A3) unless we decide to swap?

Hi there! you can check your designated slot on CORS, it would reflect which sectional you have been allocated to. The reason you see all the above slots is because, there's a possibility that the same professor or coordinator is handling all 3 classes.
Sectionals are unlike tutorials, you are not able to ballot for them but simply have to follow the slot reflected in the CORS timetable.
If you wish to swap, you would need to find someone to do a mutual swap with and you would be able to swap the timings for them!
Goodluck! (:

Hello there, i have been admitted under the UTCP curriculum, and i should be exempted from GER1000! But why is it still seen on my timetable? Do i still need to bid for tutorials on 11th August? Or must i take my UTCP mods and GER1000 at the same time? Thanks :D

Hi there! (: Yes you should be exempted from GER1000, so you should send an appeal to drop that module on CORS!

HELLO THERE :D Are we able to change our lectures timing on our calendars? How do we do that! Or can we just crash lectures?? THANKS

Hi you can just crash lectures, at the discretion of your lecturers - they would let you know about this once you go for the first lecture! (:

Hi is it normal to be allocated 3 sectional teaching mods and only 1 lecture mod? :( and when do I have to bid for the GEM mod since it's not allocated? thanks so much!

Hi it is entirely normal as a freshmen! You would have to bid for your GEM Module During Day 1 and 2 of O'Week 2015! During Pre-Camp we would also be teaching you how to bid as well (:

Hi! Do i have to bid for lecture for sectional teaching? And why is there class on sunday for the GEM module?

Hi sectionals are 3 hour long seminars! So you would not have to bid for any lectures for them! Also, it seems that you have been allocated GER1000 which is an online e lecture module with tutorials on campus. Hence, you would only need to bid for its tutorials and any biz lecture's tutorials!

Hi, What are sectional teaching? So in my scenario, i currently have 2 sectional teaching, 2 lecture for core modules and 1 lecture (sunday) for GEM. So what would i be bidding for and at which round should i be most concerned? (e.g do i need to bid for tutorial for sectional teaching?)

Hi! You would not have to bid at all for your first semester as you have gotten your 5 modules. However, you would need to bid for your tutorials during Iteration Round 1 for your GEM module and Iteration Round 2 for your biz tutorials!

Hello, I am given 3 sectional teaching including BFS 1001 and 2 lectures. Plus 1 ger1000. Do I still need to bid for extra modules on round 1c? Or am I not allow to take extra modules since I got 6 modules already. Thanks for the help.

Hi there! Welcome to business school (: you won't have to bid at all for your first semester! It's all been pre allocated (:

Hi! For specialization module, will be there preallocation? or do we need to bid through cors

Hi! Specialization modules would not be pre allocated! You would have to bid for them on CORS! (:

HELLO, does BBA freshies need to bid for major mods during round 1C? My time table states one GER1000, two lectures and two seminar teachings. This means i have 5 major mods now and i need to bid for a 6 one?

Hello, as a general rule, all non-DDP BBA freshies DO NOT have to bid for major mods during round 1C because you are pre-allocated your major/core mods. You have been allocated 4 core modules (2 lectures and 2 tutorials as you have stated). Your 5th mod which is a GEM module, has also been allocated to you. As such, you DO NOT have to bid for a 5th mod either. Unless you are a DDP student or you wish to overload in year1sem1, you DO NOT need to bid for a 6th one. A typical year 1 biz student takes 4 core modules + 1 gem module. In short, for your case, you DO NOT need to bid for any modules this semester (: Hope this clarifies! :)

Hi there! I'm an incoming freshmen - Just a few quick qns: 1) Can we change our sectional teaching classes? 2) When do we bid for tutorial modules? 3) We have to go for the 1st lecture before we can change lecture time slots is it? THANK YOU!

Hi there! Welcome to Business School :) You can change the sectional timings of your classes if you managed to find a mutual swap (aka someone else from another class who is willing to do the swap with you). Do drop us your email and we would send you the template and procedure to initiate the swap :)
Bidding for tutorial slots starts during Iteration Round 1 for GER1000 and Iteration Round 2 for Biz Modules.
You should go for the first lecture, following which, the lecturer may indicate what are the slots that he/she would be teaching and hence, allow you to go for any of those slots.

Hi! Sorry I have several questions! 1) If we were to take up a language mod, would that be on top of our core & GEM mods such that we have 6 mods this coming sem? 2) What's the regulation on UE/breadth mods for biz? 3) Is there a fixed number of core mods we have to take each sem? Thank you! :)

Hi there! (:
1) Hi yes, it would be on top of your core and GEM Modules
2) A breadth module is any module outside of business school. A UE module can be ANY module. Hence, its entirely up to your choosing! (:
3) No, for core modules, you would be pre allocated it throughout your BBA life so there is no stipulated number of core modles that you have to take every semester! However for Year 1, it is normal for a student to get 4 modules every semester.

Hello, my time table states only 2 lectures, 2 sectional teaching and 1 GER1000. I have some questions! :( 1: Do we have to bid for tutorials for the 2 lectures only? 2: Are we able to change our sectional teaching? 3: Does this mean i am taking 5 core modules? 4: Can we change our timetables? how!

Hi there! Welcome to Business School :) Yes, you would only have to bid for the tutorials of the 2 lectures only.
You can change the timing of your sectionals only through a mutual swap with someone for the timing that you want. If you wish to do so, please drop us your email and we would email you the procedure on how to do so :)
Yes, this means that you are taking 5 modules, 4 Business Modules and 1 GEM Module.
Again, referring to question 2, you can only swap your sectional timings via a mutual swap (from another biz student whom you would have to find yourself) - do drop us your email and we would email you the procedure :)

Hi, what time does the pre-camp start and how long is it? Haha

Hi there! Pre-Camp starts at 8.30am and is expected to end at 4pm. There would also be an email sent to you shortly with regard to the details of pre-camp! (:

How many general education modules do i have to take? according to the website it states at least 8 MCs, on the GEM website, it states that we have to fulfill the 5 pillars (Human Culture,Asking Questions, Quantitative Reasoning, Singapore Studies,Thinking). So do we need to take 2 or 5 modules?

Hi there! As of now based on existing information, you would have to take a module from each of the 5 pillars. You could go to cors.nus.edu.sg, Select the tab "Schedule & Useful Info" > Scroll Down to "General Education Modules for Cohort 2015 onwards" to find what GEM Modules you can take :)

Hi, freshmen here. May i know what is a breadth elective module? When should i bid for it i.e starting from year 2 onwards? because i understand that Y1S1 & Y1S2 has modules allocated to you. As for Singapore studies module, how & when should i bid for it too?

Hi there! Welcome to Business School :) For incoming freshmen, you would have to bid for your 5th GEM Module if you are not pre allocated GER1000. As for what are the available GEM Modules, Refer to cors.nus.edu.sg: Schedule & Useful Info > Scroll down > Look for "General Education Modules for Cohort 2015 onwards"
You would be able to choose which GEM you intend to take for the semester ahead and then bid for it during Round 2A, during the first Day of O'Week 2015 :)

Hi, is it possible to change our sectional teaching classes? :) pls pls pls say yes thx fairies for answering our freshmen qns <3

Hi! In order to change your sectional teaching classes, you would have to request for a swap of sectional timings. If you could drop us your email, we would email you the procedure on how to do so! (:

Hi, is there any up-to-date typical module sequence for BBA (Acc.) students? I've only found them for much earlier years. Thanks!

Hi there! You would be sent an updated module sequence once school starts by the Accounting Department to your NUS email.

Quick question, i have a GER 1000 on Sunday. As such, do we have to bid for GER 1000 tutorials? If yes, does the bidding take place on CORS on 11 August / 17th August? Thanks so much :D

Hi there! GER1000 is a pre allocated e-lecture module! Hence, you would only need to ballot for the physical tutorial slot during Iteration Round 1, which is on 11 August 2015! (:

Hi, I'm a freshman thats got a placing for LPP. Unfortunately, my assigned LPP lecture slot coincides with one of my pre-assigned mod. Is there any way I appeal to switch the group for my pre-assigned mod(es2002)?

Hi! To switch your ES2002 you have to request via BBA office, write in an email to them. However, you may also want to consider swapping your LPP lecture slot instead, it may be easier!

Hello there! I have a module on Sunday namely GER1000. Having understood that it is considered a GEM module that is flexible (like e-lectures) do we need to bid for tutorials for it then? How do we do the bidding via CORS? And is it also the same when bidding for tutorials?

Hi! For GER1000, since it is an e-lecture module, you would have to bid for the tutorials that are physically held around campus. Balloting for Tutorial slots for GER1000 would be held during Iteration Round 1, which is held on 11 August 2015. During O'Week we would teach you on how balloting for tutorials work!

Hi, I'm an incoming freshmen who'll be attending O week, is it required for us to bring our laptops or anything on the first day of camp?

Hi there! (: There would be a packing list sent to you for O'Week 2015 shortly. It is not a requirement for you to bring your laptop during the camp itself. Even for bidding via CORS, it could be done on your mobile phones itself, so laptops won't be necessary (:

I am a freshman from Poly. Can I take 6 Cores Modules in Year 1 Semester 1? As a Senior told me he did that. The prof from interview also told me that even freshies can take up to 6 modules without seeking consent from the office, as this is not considered as overloading. Is this true?

Hi! There is nothing stopping you from overloading and taking 6 core modules in Y1S1. The average NUS student takes 5 modules every semester. However, from your batch onwards, there is a new rule stating that your 5 GEM modules have to be completed before the end of Year 2. As a result, you may want to take 1 GEM Module during your sem so that you can fulfill this requirement! (:

Hi freshmen here, this is a follow-up to 1 of the below questions. I have been allocated 5 modules, out of which 2 are both ES2002, on 2 different days. So does this mean I actually have 4 or 5 modules; do I have to bid for another?

Hi, I think you are referring to the two lectures of ES2002 in a week, they are just one module. That particular module has two classes a week. This means that you only have 4 modules allocated and hence, would need to bid for your 5th GEM Module.
