Hi, I did not register for any of the freshmen camps. Also, from the newspaper, NUS freshmen orientation activities are cancelled. May I know what do I have to do in 0 week? Are there any lessons or activities are carried out? What should I do in order to attend the activities, if any? Thank you.

Hey! I would to ask if I want to bid for ES1103 that is outside of the faculty, which round should I bid? Anyway, I heard that attendance is not compulsory and anyone can go to any classes, is that true?

You can bid for ES1103 in Round 3. Unfortunately we cannot advise you on student habits of attending classes; you should judge for yourself when school starts!

Am I right that if I want to bid for GEM tmr, the points will be deducted against G account? What if the module exceeds the point I have as I am freshie?

Yes! If it exceeds then it means you probably shouldn't bid for that module.

Hello! Currently, I am allocated to 4 core mods + 1 ES mod. However, I took an advanced placement test for MNO previously and would only know the outcome on 5 August. May I know if I am still required to bid for 1 GEM in Round 2?

You should wait till 5th August for your results to be out and if you are exempted, then you can bid in Round 3A which opens 8th August :)

for people not participating in the camp , is there still any impt talks/activities next week?

You may want to join us for FIC, but other than that there are no activities.

Hi I've read in earlier posts that if I'm allocated MNO1001A,ACC1002, BFS1001,BSP1005,BSP1004 and GER1000 I do not have to bid in round 2. However, in nusmod it shows that I only have 16MC since ger1000 n bfs1001 are 0Mc. So do I have to bid?

GER1000 is 4MCs (check nusmods again) so you don't have to bid!

Hi BBA Freshie here! how do we know which sectional teaching group we are allocated? also if I'm only allocated 4 core modules which are 16MCs, do I still have to bid for 1 more core module and 1 GEM module? Or do I only bid for 1 GEM Module?

Hello! You may check CORS for your sectional class. You need only bid for 1 GEM!

hello, i tried to bid for ES1103 slot in group E instead of B cause the biz slot clashes with my current timetable. But i'm not allowed to bid. Is it not possible to bid for ES1103 outside of our own faculty?

You can only bid for ES1103 within your own faculty. In that case, you should look for alternative 1103 slots that you can take. Otherwise, you may look to the module swopping platform to find someone to swop your module (the clashing one) with you!

For GER1000, since we have to ballot it during iteration 1, does this means we have to rank 20 choices of of GER1000 in iteration 1. Then for my 2 other modules that I had to ballot during iteration 2, has another 20 choices right? Since GER1000 is of a different iteration compared to my 2 other mod

Yup! GER1000 is balloted for in Iteration 1, but you don't have to use up all 20 slots. For your other two mods you will split equally among 20, but you also don't have to use all of the slots :)

That is correct. If you have 20MCs already, you don't have to bid.

You may attend FIC, but will not be invited for the talks tomorrow due to logistics constraints!

There will be in classrooms and sectional rooms but there aren't many in the LTs :)

Hi I'm in BAC, do I need to bid for my modules? I've been allocated BFS1001, BSP1004, BSP1005, GER1000, ACC1002 and MNO1001B. Also when does the tutorial balloting commence?

You do not have to bid for anything else. To know if you should / should not bid, you may simply count the number of MCs you already have. If it is 20, you do not need to bid. Anything less than 20 and you will have to :)

How do they determine who will get the tutorial spots? If there is only 1 tutorial spot for spot X, and person A and person B both put spot X as their first choice, who will get spot X?

Tutorial balloting is NOT a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather a first-rank-first serve basis. Hence, if both persons A and B indicate X, the system will randomly allocated the slot to either of them. It is really a matter of luck, especially when it gets down to the last few slots for a tutorial class!

There is no deadline, but you should do it as soon as possible before school starts! Yes, you just indicate your details on the form, and if you observe someone with a complementary swop with you (i.e. you have A but want B while the other party wants B but has A), just contact the person via their mobile number!

Do you recommend to buy textbooks or bring laptop to school will do for studying? Thank you!

We recommend a mix of both, actually! Laptops are definitely a must for university, while textbooks are made compulsory for some modules and not so much so for others. In Year 1, the modules with compulsory textbooks are:
1. DSC1007 (e-textbook)
2. MKT1003
3. BSP1005 (but not many people buy it anyway)
4. ACC1002
5. BSP1004
