Hi! I'm a year 2 student. If my BFS class clashes with a GEM I want to bid for, is it possible to change BFS class and will it be reflected in the system such that I can bid for that GEM? Thank you

Hi, you will have to do a mutual swop with someone in order to change your timing for BFS.

How do we change seminar slots with other people?

You have to manually go to the office to request for a swap once you have found someone to do a mutual swop with :)

How do the freshmen know what modules they have to bid aside from the pre-allocated ones? I heard they should take up 5 modules so about 1-2 modules have to be bidded by them! Thanks!

You can bid for UEs, or a second GEM! Most BBA and BAC single degree students will be allocated 3 biz mods and 1 GEM so the last one can be a UE.

Business freshmens will be preallocated modules so they don't have to bid during 28-29july 2016. This includes freshmens from accountacy right? :) When can the freshmen check which modules are preallocated to them?

Yes, that is correct. You may check your mods on 21st July.

Hi, I would like to know when will we be able to check our timetable ? And is our timetable/modules allocated to us in year1 without any bidding required?

Hi, please refer to older posts below for your answer. Y1s will be allocated 3-4 mods and will have to bid for the remaining 2 yourselves during later rounds.

Hi i just want to ask how about if i was in the waiting list? Can i have a chance to join the camp? Because i really want to join this camp. Thank you

Hi, your chances of joining the camp will depend on how many people pull out of the camp. As to how many people did, we can't say as of yet. We sincerely apologise that we cannot accommodate everyone because of logistics constraints!

When will we get a list of items to bring for camp ? Can we get the list by this week because we need time to purchase some items...

The packing list will be sent nearer to the camp itself. All items you will need will probably not be required for you to purchase (except maybe sunblock if you don't already have it).

Hello, I would like to clarify sth regarding the SEP grading system. If a person is in the sub committee for NBC, for example, will points be awarded under both the "CCA" section and "leadership" section?

Technically, that should be the case. However, the SEP point allocations are not really made transparent to the cohort so we aren't really sure whether the points will be given to you twice for the same activity under two different segments.

Hi, should we attend the rag cohesion? Is it compulsory or not? Thank you

Hi there, rag cohesion is part of O'Week and it is compulsory, so you have to attend it :)

Is it recommended for Y2s to declare their specialisation in sem 1? I'm quite lost on how to go about to plan my modules.. Is there any guides available? >< Thanks!!

You should declare your spec before taking any spec modules, but it's also fine to declare if you're not taking any yet :) there's no recommended period to declare as long as you do before taking your spec modules. As for module planning, you may want to seek your peers' or seniors' advice on this as we do not provide module planning guides. This is because everyone plans differently (and some don't plan very well) so there really isn't a standard one to follow.

According to the academic calendar exams for ay16/17 sem 1 is from 19 Nov- 3rd Dec. Do you know if its fixed and will end by 3rd dec, or is it still TBC?

3rd will be the very last day of exams but your final exam doesn't necessarily fall on that date, so it depends on which module you take and when your very last paper is. For biz students, we usually end about 1-3 weeks after Reading Week :)

Hi I thought freshmen are supposed to bid for modules from round 1C onwards apart from GE, SS or breadth modules? Round 1C will start from 28th July though.

Yes, that is true, but biz students are preallocated modules so you will not have to bid in 1C. GEMs and everything else can be bid for in subsequent rounds.

Hi, just wanted to check, would there usually be projects at the end of the year for a freshman? Or compulsory extra lessons, interns etc , stuff that you're highly discouraged from missing? What would be the safer period to leave for my holiday overseas? Thank you!

There will be no lessons after your exam period. However, there may be optional internships you might be interested in and other bizad club activities that will be ongoing, but nothing that you are highly discouraged from missing since school will officially end once exams are over. If you do not participate in any school activities, the safe period to go overseas will be after the last day of your exams.

Hi! Regarding Jam n Hop, can we still apply for it? What are the activities for us should we choose to attend? Cos I didnt go for the NBC and it might be awkward for me to go since i dun think i'll know anyone there. But i still wanna experience the last FOP:D

Jam n Hop is not based on sign-ups; rather, everyone who attends O'Week is entitled to join Jam n Hop (but not the pageant part). The activities and details will be revealed on the night itself.

HELPP! So freshies need to do what?? What modules preallocated? What gems?? so we dont need to do anything till oweek??! Pls Helppp

From now till precamp, freshies don't need to bid for anything. You can, however, check your CORS account by logging in with your NUSNET ID and password to view your pre-allocated modules. More details about bidding, GEMs and the like will be conducted during pre-camp.

Is the matriculation package in hard copy (like include the freshmen guide etc) or have it change to online for all stuff ?

It should be hard copy and mailed to your mailing address :) We don't know if it has changed this year, but this was the practice last year.

I didn't receive the admission package either. What is inside?

The package should contain an NUS undergraduate admissions guide (on how to apply for tuition grants, EZ-link cards, and stuff about other NUS-wide initiatives), a welcome letter from NUS and from Business School, another letter detailing Advanced Placement Tests, and some other stuff such as pamphlets from residential colleges and halls! This was what your seniors received last year, so maybe you'll be receiving the same as well :)

Hi, when do y2s need to choose a specialization? Also, since y2s are usually preallocated 3 mods in sem 1 or 2, does this means that we would need to take a gem mod and UE?

Hi, Y2s can declare their specialisation at the start of the CORS bidding period, in CORS. Yes, you will likey be pre-allocated 3-4 modules, and the last one can be used for your GEM, UE or your specialisation module (if applicable).

Hi, should we receive the admission package by now? Cause until now we have not receive the package regarding admission/matriculation stuff...

You should have received the matriculation mail by now! If you haven't, you may want to call the BBA Office to check on why it hasn't reached you yet :)

May I know if I'm unable to make payment on the date I've selected in the O'week registration form, can I go ahead and pay on the other stipulated dates ?

yup, please do so!

Hi, do most BAC students take the SQP to become chartered accountants after graduation/while working? What's the difference between a chartered accountant and a normal accountant?

Hi there, there will definitely be quite a few of our students who will take the professional programme offered by SQP. This is usually done after graduation as the professional programme requires a accredited accountancy degree (as offered by NUS). A chartered accountant will generally have gone through more training than an accountant, i.e., during their professional programme in SQP (or organizations of the like) and are also more likely to be employed in the working world. You may do a simple google about this to find out more!

Where will be our accommodation during the camp?

Hello! Freshies will be staying mostly in seminar rooms and classrooms during the camp; do bring your sleeping bags with you!

Hello there. Can i ask if there is a guideline we have to follow for dress code (business formal) during presentations in school? For instance, the colour, design or standardization purposes. If yes, is there a specific place you would recommend us to purchase it? Thanks!

For quite a number of our modules, you will need at least one set of formal wear. A safe colour will be black and white, so if you're male, you'll just need a black suit, long pants and a tie to go with it :) If you're female, you'll need a black blazer and a dark-coloured skirt or pants.
That being said, black and white is only a safe colour, and other dark colours are also welcome but may not be recommended by some module profs, like dark blue :)
