What do you think about the Israeli Palestinian issue?

I'm going to be honest, I don't know much about this issue and I'm not sure where to look for unbiased information ):

a lot of the media in my state / country is anti-middle eastern due to racism and islamophobia. I'm worried that I won't find good coverage of this that isn't skewed in perspective.

What do you think about the word alien, which is used for people who were not born in America?

we think of "extraterrestrials" when we hear the word "alien" even though that's a relatively new definition. the word has been in use for centuries with other meanings.

despite that, it's //always// had a negative connotation. it never just meant "foreigners", it was used as "strange" or "weird". that made foreigners also seem strange and weird. and things that are strange or weird are generally seen as bad.

the modern definition only adds to that negative connotation. it gives them unhuman or monsterous qualities in our heads simply by word association. unfortunately, this matches current feelings towards anyone born outside of the country, especially people that aren't white like the stereotypical "american" or "european" from a white man's perspective. bleh. it's just a yucky word used to be racist.

we could choose to call them by any other word that is less problematic, acknowledging how languages and cultures change over time. and imo we should! but a lot of people still call them aliens, especially with the phrase "illegal aliens", and they aren't going to stop.

too many people view immigrants as low class, immoral criminals coming here illegally to steal our jobs. they forget that our country was built by immigrants and a vast majority of people here descend from them or even //are// them. immigration isn't as many generations back in our family trees as people like to believe! and most people coming here aren't doing so with ill intent in the first place. people just like to gatekeep our cities from non-white people that they view as a threat.

the only time I'd ever report someone to ICE is if they were an actual criminal, but the idea that immigrants are criminals is entirely founded on racism and it's disgusting. they aren't criminals, they're hardworking, brave people!!

there's something extra special about being in the presence of a cat that immediately relaxes my nerves and boosts my mood. if I'm having a panic attack or I'm upset / angry, the best remedy is to find a cat and just lay there with them for a while.

their meows keep me focused on them rather than negative thoughts. their purring is sooo soothing. and the soft texture of their fur when I pet them, or the roughness of their tongue when they kiss me, or even the way they knead on my clothing / blankets keeps me grounded.

yes, a few times. I always had a crush on them before they started dating, though,,,,,I never started liking them after I knew they were together.

if a friend is dating someone, that person is totally off limits to me. I could never hurt my friend like that! I just bite my tongue, hold my feelings back, and let them do their own thing.

even if they break up, I don't suddenly jump in since I know it's not the best situation,,,,,I wait and see what happens. the one time I dated my friend's ex was many years later. I didn't want to hurt her.

everyone contributes the same percentage of the money they make towards rent. no one has to take a loss, everyone has the opportunity to save their money equally.

yes and no, it's a little complicated xD there are certain things that I envy about men,,,,but also things that I don't.

I wish I had a flat chest !! imo it looks much nicer while dancing and would allow me to get cleaner, straighter body lines like hyunjin from stray kids. it's better for cosplays too - I wouldn't have to bind to be gorou !! - and it's just more attractive in general. my first kiss was an assault from the guy I was dating at the time when we were minors. I hope you understand if I don't feel comfortable discussing it online. I know I've discussed other times where I've been kissed without permission,,,,,but this time in particular is still very scary to me despite it happening many years ago. it was extremely traumatic. not having control over your own body is an awful thing for someone to experience. plus,,,,,being kids, it doesn't feel right to go into details for both of our privacy.
