What is your favorite scummy outside the game option select that people use to make their wins more impressive/losses less humiliating? "I don't even play this game," "I'm not using my main," "I thought I'd go 0-2, anyway," etc.

my favorite is actually the top player OS for winning without trying to sound like they tryhard. first they win a tournament, then they're like "this game sucks" and kind of shrug their shoulders.
i don't know if people still do this but they sure used to!

Assuming you start at entry/mook level, which fictional villain would you most prefer to work for?

If I say Galactus, then I get Herald powers, right? That seems pretty sweet.
God, Silver Surfer was such a weird idea.

If you could go back into the past and change one thing or tell your past self one thing, what would it be and why?

That I'd be doing awesome things with wonderful people!
Also that my girlfriend is really, really hot. And talented. And smart. etc.

Earth is under attack by powerful but uncultured aliens. Our only hope is to show the aliens something that will convince them that humanity deserves to live. You can pick one single work, of any medium, to show the aliens. What'll it be?

Super Turbo

What do you think about the word eSports? If you could retroactively change the word used for competitive video games would you do it?

I don't mind it. The capital S bugs me though.

Now that Fifty Shades of Grey is popular, what will be the next fetish to "hit the big time" with white women?

I tweeted a link to a reddit comment about two white people sexy role playing a driving while black encounter so there you go

Moved from old place to new place few yrs back, and I avoided ppl as much as I could and made no friends in high school. Now in uni I avoid ppl andstill haven't made any friends. I tell myself this is cus no one cares about me or my wacky passion for death metal and FG's. Am I doing something wrong?

first off, you might want to read this http://pattheflip.tumblr.com/post/113527417463/growing-up-nerdy-doesnt-damn-you-to-a-life-of
if you avoid people, you're not gonna be anyone's friend. death metal and fighting games are pretty cool and there are obviously people who make friends with the people who are into those things, because it's not like you go to a death metal/FG event and just see a bunch of friendless people!
so yes, you are doing something wrong. stop avoiding people if you want to make friends! you don't need to share interests with someone in order to be friends with them.

I have 1 TV at me/fam's place, that's where my console is. Besides sharing TV, I feel morbidly awkward playing FGs in front of my parents (I also hide my Facebook, Twitter, anime and music tastes). Fam doesn't want to buy another TV because "We want you to sit outside with all." What do I do?

They probably want to see the kind of stuff you're into! I wouldn't be ashamed of your tastes in whatever unless your parents have given you a reason to be ashamed, at which point you should probably hash it out with them.
Your family probably was into some dorky shit too. My dad was a huge deadhead, so he can't really say shit about my tastes in anything

Do you think balance and fun in fighting games is causative, ie if a game is balanced then it will automatically be fun and if it isn't, then it won't be fun?

Hell no. Most of the games I've had the most fun with have severe balance issues (mvc2, cvs2, st).
Balance is about making a commitment to the player that picking a character they like will not doom them to a life of uphill matchups. It doesn't really link to fun, except that a game that only has one viable strategy is usually not fun.

I've been thinking about my char not being good enough to apply diff strats like "play patient or rush" but also that maybe I'm just not good enough to apply the strats and my char is fine. At what skill point should the idea of "Maybe my char isn't as flexible as I think" enter vs "Just git gud"?

Depends on the game and the character, I think. SF4 Ryu is fun because he can play up close and aggressive or choose to poke and zone, but he can't do either perfectly so he has to switch between the two. MvC2 Magneto needs to get up in that ass 100%.

How interested are you in watching FG streams where a player only plays training mode and watches their replays to try to improve but doesn't play any netplay and is this a good idea in general? Curious because most streams I feel don't have active learning from the streamer, just having fun derp.

I have very little patience for educational live streams in general because most of the people who do them are not good at teaching.
Basically, watch the day9 daily and do that. It's tough because it entails preparation and lesson planning, but it's how you do it well. Anything less and you've lost my attention in favor of cat videos.

If you could have the ability to survive indefinitely without (A) food, (B) water, (C) air, or (D) sleep, which one would you choose?

sleep! would love to take that time and use it for stuff.

If you were a character in a video game, what would your idle animation be?

standing with a slight slouch, looking into a nearby car windshield at my reflection and flexing, maybe checking my phone

What is your opinion on mechanics that can be used as combo breakers of sorts, like MKX Sonya and Xrd 1.0 Elphelt detonating grenades while getting hit, UMVC3 Doom missiles coming down even if you hit them, and general screen based traps that can break combos if you hit them even during your combos?

They annoy the heck out of me! You bet your ass I run Doom missiles in Marvel though.
