This maxcpm stuff clearly isn't a very financially stable or effective model. What other avenues do you think streamers should explore if they're looking for more financial reward?

Frankly, I think the people who are doing thoughtful and engaging work are the people who will win out. Problem is, in order to do that you need a) someone who is business-minded, b) someone who is good in front of a camera, and c) someone who is good at making compelling video content. I'd point to the Day[9]Daily as the best example to model off of.

In your day-to-day life, are you this willing to openly share your opinions and your personal life with others? Or is this merely an internet amusement?

I think I'm pretty open in real life if people show interest. One of the things I learned from my ex-wife is that building a genuine connection with a human being means sharing the right kinds of personal information -- she's crazy good at it.

I was asking if you ever had to defend yourself, actually. How has BJJ helped you with your career?

This is a conversation best had over a beer! The abbreviated version is that BJJ teaches you get from bad positions to good ones before trying to end a fight, and that got me thinking a lot about working hard to "improve my position" before worrying too much about Doing Meaningful Work. There's a lot I still want to learn about the business of video games before I start trying to contribute something significant myself, and the more I learn, the more I can see what else I need to learn.

In regards to Marvel, who wins? Chris G today versus Justin in his MVC2 prime?

Uh, this is weirdly phrased, because they're good at two different games.
Chris G has never won Evo. Justin won B5 and Evo 2002-2008.

Who is the most annoying character or shell in FGC history outside of CVS2?

Faust in Guilty Gear. Holy crap he's just the most annoying shit to play against ever.
Also see: MVC2 Storm. OH OH OH OH OH OH OH

Are there any EC commentators anywhere close to the level of professionalism that the UltraChen shell provides?

Honestly, I don't really have strong opinions about commentators.

Who's reign is more impressive as the first "professional" gamer in their respective scenes? Tomo Ohira (Fighting) or Thresh (FPS)?

I'm probably not well-informed on both their histories to answer this for sure. I will say that Tomo's reign of SF wasn't really that well documented; I have no idea how often people traveled for tournaments, and his heyday was in the pre-SRK (possibly pre-agsf2?) days. I'm pretty sure the early Quake days attracted a higher tier of competition, but that's more of an educated guess.

Did you ever geek out at meeting an FGC player/personality for the first time?

I won't lie, I had butterflies in my stomach when I played against Kineda on stream at NCR and John Choi was sitting next to me. (He even remembered my naaaaame~)

Do you read any fitness magazines or fighting magazines?

Nah. I used to get most of my information from the Sherdog forums (which were a really great place to learn the basics) and advice from coaches/trainers etc. Most of the magazines I've seen for these topics were kinda garbage.

What encouraged you to start this ask.fm stuff in the first place?

I've had this thing open for a year or so now, but I never really solicited people for questions until the last month or so. I think what encourages me is that people keep asking me stuff!

Who is your woman crush Wednesday?

Is this a thing? I don't think that's a thing. I am not going to answer this one! I am going to say that I am a sucker for creative, talented, determined people.

Do we still have to give a shit about bitcoin?

I think cryptocurrencies are going to grow more and more important, and definitely worth paying attention to. But I'm pulling for Dogecoin to win out; I want money to be a thing I associate with whimsy and fun, not libertarians.

Have you ever met an idol of yours, and did you keep your cool?

"Idol" is a strong word. I've met a lot of people I look up to and hopefully managed to not make an ass of myself.

If you could pick ONE game in which you wish you were a top player, at ANY era in the fighting game scene history, which would it be?

Street Fighter VI, because by then we'll have gone full eSports and I'll get my fight moneyyyyyy. Kappa
I'd have to say MVC2 during the mid-2000s, when Justin had settled in as the top dog. MVC2 was so hype.

What is your favorite JRPG of all time? Favorite regular RPG of all time?

Can't pick a favorite JPRG. Final Fantasy 6 is comfort food; Chrono Trigger is impeccably designed and paced; Earthbound and Mother III touch my heart.
As far as not-Japanese RPGs go, my favorites were Shadowrun (Genesis) and Fallout 1 + 2.

What is your favorite video console of all time?

Super Nintendo, baby. That thing was the shit.

How do you avoid getting carpal tunnel while working on the computer all day?

I don't work on a computer all day! Most of my time is spent in meetings.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Kappa/comments/2508gf/triforce_live_on_three_general_discussion/ There's too much wtf and facepalm moments to cover here. How do you feel about this? Triforce seems to have severe psychological issues at play here.

Whenever I hear anything about EMP I'm worried that it's a situation ripe for emotional/physical abuse and financial exploitation. Mental health issues wouldn't surprise me, but I'm not a doctor and I try not to pathologize or dismiss that kind of thing.

Do you feel grapplers get constantly screwed over in fighting games one way or another?

itsumobasho’s Profile PhotoAndrew Alfonso
No. I think they're a playstyle that is very difficult to balance, and one way to balance them is to make certain matchups really hard. That said, I don't play that many grapplers in fighting games.

Good answer on the suplex question, other acceptable answers would have included Mr. Perfect's Perfect-Plex and Taz's T-bone tazzplex.

Heh, nice. I'm actually not that well-read on pro wrestling.

How many countries have you been to? Do you like to travel?

Been to Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, UK, Italy, Germany. I do like to travel, though I haven't done that much of it.

Fake boobs: Yes or no? Can you tell if they're fake?

Honestly, this is not something I spend a lot of time thinking about, but yeah, I think I could probably tell.
