If you were in a horror movie, how long would you survive?

I can't deal with scary shit, so I'd be the dude that peaces out at the first sight of zombies or whatever.

So, I dunno if you've said this before, but what's your thoughts on SFII HDR? I know the art style gets a lot of (deserved) flak but what about the rest?

I have fun playing it but I don't take it too seriously. I'm sad that it gets shit on because I kinda feel like people didn't explore it as thoroughly as we could have. It's nice to have an easily-accessible passable version of ST on PS3/Xbox though.

Do you have a big family?

Depends on how you think of it, I guess. My family is layered.
Immediate biological family is just Dad and I. (Mom passed away when I was young -- cancer.) Dad remarried, but I'm not terribly close with the stepfamily. Dad's family lives in Illinois, Mom's family lives in Manila; don't see either side much. I do have some extended family (Mom's cousins) in the Bay Area who I see for Christmas and Thanksgiving.
I love 'em all, but I tend to focus my energy on the family I choose than the family I was born with.

Why no streamerino more often?

It's tiring! I'm usually not free to play games until like 10-11pm, and it's hard for me to be "on" after a day of work and stuff. I'm trying to stream for at least an hour or two a week, though.

Why don't you stream your Deus Ex: HR run?

I did it when it came out like ~3 years ago and didn't record it! Also it'd be kind of boring to watch, since I mostly just killed everyone I could as safely as possible. There were definitely a few close calls, though.

Do you prefer sandwiches (including burgers, croque-monsieur, that KFC Double Down thing, etc.) or wraps (including burritos, gyros, spring rolls, roulade, etc.)?

I love me some burritos, but if forced to choose between one format or another I'd choose the sandwich format. I got some strong opinions about burgers in particular.

What kind of frozen dessert is your favorite? Ice cream? Gelato? Sorbet? Granita? ...Frozen yogurt?

Ice cream for sure.
Not frozen completely, but: Shoutouts to Rudy Can't Fail Cafe in Oakland for the Shaken Jesse.

What's the nicest thing you've done for a stranger?

East Bay regulars will appreciate this.
I spent New Year's Eve 2006 (or something, I forget exactly) hanging out with my good buddy Allen while he was doing lab tech work at UC Berkeley. As we walked back from the lab to his apartment, we saw a group of kids running down the street, being chased by The Hat Lady, who was a regular fixture selling knit caps she made herself at the Telegraph and Durant intersection. She's older and couldn't run very far, so I decided just to fucking book it. (I'm usually pretty bad at quickly making decisions in this kind of situation, so this was out of the ordinary for me.)
After about a block and a half at a dead sprint, they dropped something, and I scooped it up and returned it to The Hat Lady. Turns out they stole her old stereo that she keeps in her cart -- she's known for blasting music and dancing while selling hats because she doesn't give a fuck. She was pretty happy about it, and talked my ear off for like an hour while I waited with her for her bus. Then Allen and I went back to his place, made Bisquick biscuits with Nutella, and played Animal Crossing DS and Ikaruga to usher in the new year.
Hands-down the best New Year's Eve I've ever had.

When you have the choice, what difficulty level do you usually play games on?

When I have the choice, I don't play single-player games, generally. But when I do, I'll play the default difficulty.
I think the last single-player game I REALLY got into was Deus Ex: Human Revolution; played it once on Normal, another time on Realistic, and a third time on Realistic where if I died I'd start at the very beginning. That was fun as heck.

Are you down with the clown?

Story time! First time meeting Internet Strangers IRL was actually with a good buddy of mine in middle school who was going through an ICP phase. He met a juggalette (that's what they're called, right) in an AOL chat room, and they met up at the beach in Pacifica and I came along with one of her friends to make sure no creepy shit happened. (I think her dad was like, posted up in the car or something.) They were wearing matching Great Milenko t-shirts or something.
I personally didn't get into the ICP stuff but I think in retrospect that moment probably taught me a lot about weird subcultures and the Internet.

Waifuism: A force for good or evil?

Waifuism is simply a tool. Good or evil is in the mind of the one who has the waifu.

I've been empty jumping more in the various fighting games I play and I'm getting great results, especially with Zangief since people freak the hell out when he is in the air. Thanks for the advice!

Sweet.

Which would you prefer: Your work is universally reviled by critics but makes you millions of dollars, OR your work is hailed as a masterpiece but you don't make any money and ultimately die young and half-crazed with lice?

critics ain't shit vs. millions of dollars. and lice is no joke.

So, how you spend your seven figure income that SRK pays you?

Running tournaments is for suckers; the real money is in writing about fighting games on the Internet.
Outside of daily-living expenses, my main indulgences are food, travel to fighting game tournaments, and buying stupid video game stuff (t-shirts, mostly) on the Internet. And waxing my name in hairy man chests.

Favorite style of beer? (or wine, or other libation of your choice)

I like beer a lot! I like a lot of easy-drinkin' pilsners and lagers (soft spot in my heart for Corona, though every Mexican person I know yells at me for this), and if I'm in the mood for something heavier I'll usually opt for whatever neat stouts I can find. Not a huge IPA guy.
Never really developed a taste for hard alcohol. Go-to cocktail is a gin and tonic.

What's the ideal age and/or maturity level for a giant robot pilot?

Kinda feel like if they're not in high school, what's the point? You don't get to contrast the brutal realities of war against the brutal realities of #teens.

My two year old daughter keeps trying to love me and engage me when I'm pushing buttons, how do I tell her to go away nicely?

Learn to cradle her between the stick and your chest. Maybe eventually she'll learn how to play!

After planes (Strike Witches), rifles (Upotte), tanks (Girls und Panzer), and ships (KanColle), what piece of military hardware will get moe-ified next?

Are there moe mechs? Seems like that should be a thing.
