is the concept of whiff punishing a thing in ST? I come from a 3S and Tekken background so I'm used to whiff punishment but I don't feel like it's a thing in ST.
Yeah, but the game runs so damn fast that it's hard to whiff punish anything faster than a sweep IMO.

Is it true that all fighting game players started out as scrubs, or is that just bullcrap to give aspiring players (false) hope?
Everyone starts out as a scrub. The only difference is how long people take to grow out of it.
If fighting games are all about demotivating opponents, making them feel stupid for doing stupid things, and general elitism, then why bother giving helpful advice to new players and scrubs? Don't players want them to "stay free" so they can continuously body them and further inflate their egos?
Nah, beating up on scrubs is boring. Beating up on good people is fun.
Say a close friend suddenly started ignoring you completely, and seemed to be happily hanging out with other friends. How long would you give them space for before trying to get back in contact? Or would you just let them go, completely?
Depends on how I saw the friendship's trajectory. If it's something I felt like fighting to save, I'd grab them and be like, "Hey buddy, let's hang out, feeling kind of neglected over here". But that is extraordinarily rare with me; I often have lots of relationships that surge and fade and surge again as time and circumstances allow.
