Are you open minded enough to let a guy give you a massage?

I prefer massages from men, actually! I try to see massage therapists a few times a year at least, and I tend to prefer sports/deep tissues massages from men because they tend to have stronger hands and more weight to put into it.

Why are you stlil awake at this ungodly hour? Only insomniacs like me troll the night at these times.

Waiting for my laundry to finish.

how long is the drive from where you currently live to super arcade?

little over an hour with traffic; 30-40 mins without.

Isn't flip considered a racial slur? I'm a Filipino myself, and I don't really care, but I imagine some people might find it the equivalent of naming yourself "patthenigga"

Yeah, it's weird! I chose the name when I was a bit angrier and gave less of a shit (college) and pretty much since then I've been waiting to see if anyone would find it offensive, but every reaction I've gotten has been the same as yours. It probably helps that most not-Filipinos don't even know it refers to Filipinos anyway.

I have cramps in my feet from standing all day, what do I do? D:

Sit down, I guess? Or maybe get some really awesome shoes like what nurses wear or something.

Most overrated UMvC3 character?

I think that within the next 4 years Vergil will be the equivalent of Cable in MVC2; a top tier, dangerous if you fuck up or let him get meter, but much less threatening than, say, Zero.

When is it actually better to pick K groove over N groove? It seems like the increased damage buff should be outweighed by N groove letting you control when you get the buff, letting you stock your meter, and giving things like rolls and alpha counters.

It's mostly dependent on how you like to play, though IMO K-groove is far more powerful than N in general; if you like what N offers, you're probably better off playing a C-groove team instead, so you can sit on the level 3.
To start with: If you don't want to get really good at roll canceling, you're almost definitely best served by picking a K-groove team (unless you are a parry god, anyway). K-groove is just SO powerful, thanks to easy access to VERY damaging level 3 supers (yes, supers do different amounts of damage based on the groove you choose) and a really versatile tool in Just Defend, that it's still viable (some say even better than) against a nasty A-groove team with roll cancels for days. Get good at Just Defending and they'll hesitate when they attack you, and they won't be able to throw fireballs willy-nilly because it's just free health and meter for you.
I don't think N-groove's meter stocking/MAX activation stuff is actually that useful, because it still requires you to telegraph your intentions, and it means you can't just convert an errant hit into a level 3 super combo like you can in C-groove, which also has roll and alpha counter (and air block, which can be handy).
Between MAX activation, run, short hop, and roll, N-groove is basically the groove for going ham and rushing shit down, and that's kind of hard to do effectively in CvS2. Of course, better people than I can murder with N-groove, but I think that in general N isn't the optimal way to play top tiers, so you end up picking a decent groove but play top tiers at a slight disadvantage or learn a bunch of not-top-tiers.

Headed to EVO for the first time this year (as a spectator - love the science and energy of the FGC, but I'm perfectly happy to remain a complete amateur at the games themselves). What should I definitely make sure to do while I'm there, aside from the obvious stuff like watching the finals?

Check out the weird stuff people play at BYOCs, walk around the hotel room block floors listening for the sound of people pressing buttons, check out the panels and the Evo Indie Showcase, buy me a beer...

i went back to read on your insertcredit guide and it was not longer hosted on the site. Do you have any mirror links for it?

It'll be up soon (we're migrating servers and someone boned something). But I've also got something even more cool than that which will be out soon, soooooo... :)

What were the iconic CEO moments for you?

Getting some one-on-one Guilty Gear tutoring from Koogy, commentating CvS2 with Andres, getting blown up by Dieminion, watching a guy (think his name was Mike?) pound a Miller High Life before playing BAS in the first round of CvS2, Momochi vs. Smug, watching NerdJosh and gllty go head-to-head at Tinder, feeding the ducks, and throwing pillows at a sleeping rando on our floor when he snored to try and get him to stop.

Watching CvS2 Friday night made it pretty clear that tier lists were pretty specific. Back in the day, was every team literally Bison/Blanka/Sagat/Cammy/Sakura variations? Were any SNK characters used with regularity?

One of the neat things about CvS2 is that the three-character team format (no one ever really used different ratio configs, it was almost always 1/1/2) actually encouraged experimentation -- within limits. You'd usually figure out which groove you wanted to play, pick a top tier character for that groove as your R2 anchor, and then have some more leeway for your R1s.
Some of the more powerful usual picks were:
Sagat (K, C, P, N)
Cammy (K, C, P)
Blanka (A, C, K)
Sakura (A)
Bison (A)
Vega (A, C, P)
Chun-li (C, A)
Guile (C)
Rolento (C, A)
While K-CBS and A-groove teams with any combination of Blanka, Vega, Bison, and Sakura were the norm, plenty of people would end up picking some of the weirder lower-tier characters and getting great with them -- which worked because you'd usually have more matchup experience against the usual top tiers than they would against you.
Matchup knowledge is huge in CvS2, especially because you have to adapt your matchup knowledge for each groove AND your opponent's ability to make the most of it (roll cancel and custom combo CC execution, Parry/Just Defend aptitude, etc). So an unusual pick could have the chance to snowball into a solid 1-character lead by the time you hit your opponent's R2. Once you get that momentum and learn how to hold it, you're pretty scary. (That's why I run Athena and Kyo from time to time.)
Also, most lower-tier characters are lower-tier because they lack a crucial element to their game (Pokes, or Anti-Airs, or whatever) -- if your groove can compensate for it with roll/roll cancel, parry, or JD, then that character can become a real powerhouse.
This set of characters usually included:
Mai (K, A)
Yun (C, A)
Iori (A, N, C)
Hibiki (P, K)
Kyo (C, K, N, A)
Geese (P, K)
Yamazaki (C, N)
Zangief (K, P)
Raiden (K, A, C)
Ryu (N, C)
Ken (C, A)
Akuma (C, A, N)
E. Honda (C)
And plenty others.
And then you'd eventually get crazies like Buktooth, who played like, N-Iori/Morrigan/Hibiki and crushed it.

If by some magical method BlazBlue and Guilty Gear crossed paths and every character had the same frame data and systems exactly from their original game, which side has the bigger edge? I'd give it GG due to the shorter hit/block stuns letting them stay active much longer than a BB character.

BlazBlue combos do damage in the thousands, Guilty Gear damage is in hundreds. BB by a landslide.

Would you help me pick a final character for my CvS2 K-Groove team? I can't decide between Cammy and Claw. I usually play on the more lame side, and I don't trust my execution (which is why I'm playing K-Groove). Thank you for any help!

Personally, I'd learn them both (they have a lot of overlapping strengths and uses) but I'd go with Claw in the end because I like the Sagat matchup.
A properly patient R1 Vega with even 25% health left can do a lot of work against an R2 Sagat, so that when your R2 Sagat comes in, they'll have to attack you, which is a pretty meaningful advantage in Sagat mirrors.
Of course, Cammy can do this damage too, but her biggest damage depends on how credible you are at threatening combos into K-groove L3s (linking s.rh into super), so if you can't do that, you miss out on a lot of her potential.

What percentage of the FGC do you think would beat you in a fight?

...5% at most? I know there's a handful of legit fighters out there (Calibur was an OG SRK poster that is still training MMA out in Japan, IIRC) who also actively play fighting games. I think Anderson Silva plays SF but is really bad at it.
Honestly, though, I don't go around sizing people up at fighting game tournaments, so I might be off there...

What's your facial hair growth like?

Very minimal. I get my hair-growing genes from my mom's side of the family, and the fact that I have to shave even 2x/week is a lot for them! I have an uncle that just has no armpit hair. How weird is that?!

how do you decide what facial features to pick in character creation?

Oh god, I'm terrible at this kind of stuff. I'll usually just pick a preset. Whatever I touch just gets uglier, it's like a curse.

What song do you love, though you'd be embarrassed to admit it?

Shit, this is tricky. I'm pretty unashamed of my music taste! I like dumb poppy stuff, lots of hip-hop, some random '90s grunge, alternative, J-pop, all sorts of weird stuff.
Here we go: The first CDs I ever owned, I bought in one of those mail-order CD club catalogues with a friend of mine. (Do they still have those?) These CDs were: Your Little Secret by Melissa Etheridge, and a 2-disc Bonnie Raitt set. I listened to a lot of adult contemporary stuff on KFOG. This was in, like, 4th grade. Everyone else was listening to, I don't know, cool kid stuff.

How do you find your main character in different fighting games? Is there a specific style/design you look for or do you just mess around until you find someone you like?

I don't really have a method to my madness! I play Ryu when I'm playing games where I think Ryu is fun; I like to learn some of the weirdos, and I have fun with mobile pixie characters and characters with good pokes. Generally don't like grapplers.
