Yard routine?

On a weekday we feed around 8ish, it can be earlier depending if we are competing or it's going to be hot so Sam and I will get the riding done before the horses start melting, but on a normal day we just feed, rug up if any of them wear rugs and turn them out (inc DIYs because they're all assisted), muck out part/full liveries, hay nets/feeds, sweep yard and we are usually done by 10:30 at the latest so then we go for our lunch break. Come back at 3 to bring in the part/full's, put any needed lotions, potions and sprays on horses as they come in, then it's just skipping out, haying and feeding then we go home at 5pm

Saw you commenting on something on SH&P, your yard has space?! what's it like?

Yeah we actually have four boxes available at the moment but there are loooads of people coming to look about next week - our yard is beaut, we have a really nice bunch of liveries, the tea room is just fabulous and we n e v e r run out of milk, everyone is really welcoming and friendly

What are your horses fed on including supplements?

Wall's has alfalfa pellets and alfalfa light, protexin gut balancer, premier flex, seaweed & rosehip, vegetable oil and plenty of water to damp his feed down. He gets a large soaked hay net every night and has a lot of turn out
As of today Ector's having chaff, non-heating pony nuts, bute, devils claw, honey and a drizzle of molasses also watered down. He also has soaked hay 24/7 and a big bucket of graze-on ready grass at lunch time as he can't be turned out

What saddles do you ride in?

Ector was in a Stubben but as he muscled out we had to put him in a different one, he was in a Henri De Revel which was a lovely saddle
Wall's has a thorowgood dressage saddle and Kenton Masters long leg GP

is there anyone off the internet that you'd let ride your horses?

I wouldn't let some randomer ride either of them I'd have to have some idea of their ability

would you rather hold for a stride or push for a long one?

Erm if I have to adjust it, it totally depends on the horse I'm riding.. Wall-E I'd go for a long one if needed but Ector I'd always rather hold as he's older and going deeper is a little more comfortable for him. Generally speaking I try to avoid spots are too long especially on the youngsters as it can really knock their confidence :-)

Spamming you because I'm bored! What are your biggest flaws when you ride flat and jumping (in your opinion, of course)

flat - I'm not quick enough with my leg, especially in canter. Also really struggling to get my right hip forward enough which means the canter on the right rein for both horses is lacking in rhythm and elasticity as I tighten and my seat braces more so it ruins everything which is soooo annoying. I also tend to lack concentration from time to time so whatever horse I'm riding sort of follows suit and we spend a bit of time being unproductive which isn't good - I need to make sure I have a plan before I get on
Jumping Wall-E - Again, I'm not decisive enough. If I'm worried about messing up a stride I'll pelt him into a fence.. Nine out of ten times he will always jump off a long stride but there's a part of me that doesn't expect him to actually do it which means I catch him in the mouth and he (rightly so!) tells me off with some nice hearty bucks lol I need to keep my shoulders back but take the weight out of the saddle more so he can travel between fences but I can still push him/collect him and take charge
Ector jumping - I need to get off his back and push him to open his stride out and cover just a touch more ground. We didn't have any breaks for so long and now that we do I need to remind myself that I *can* let go of him, take the hand break off and open out the stride

How was your dressage today?xxxx

Aside from Wall's deciding that he would fucking race around the entire show ground at break neck speed before I even managed to get his saddle on properly (I hadn't done the girth up and he decided to buck it off, piece of shit chestnut horse) it was reasonably alright. Obvs he was a bit tense and I rode him like crap but we came sixth out of a decently sized class and there were some nice bits dotted about here and there. :-)

Don't lie rlly ur just a horse abuser n don't fill up buckets u just leave them to melt obv

i poo in der bucketz and let dem drink melted shit for a speshal treat x tht not a abews stelar tht is reel luv xx

how are you keeping your horses cool in this hot weather and how are you keeping on top of filling up their water buckets?x

Ours are far better out than in as the stables have metal roofs and are wooden walled so they're like saunas... they're up to their eyeballs in sun cream and fly spray lol. We don't have buckets to fill - they all have automatic refilling water troughs in their fields and automatic water feeders in their stables x

what are the show names of all the main horses you ride?

Wall-E - Knockdomney Blue
Ector is just Ector
Cordy - Siawns Cordylines
Razor - Razor Sharpe
I can't remember Jack's off the top of my head

how do you take your bhs exams x

You could just google this??? But you need to be a gold member of the BHS and then you can apply online and arrange the exam for the nearest centre that does it to you I suppose

My horse is the biggest idiot to get to rein back with his head down, how can I stop him from throwing his head up and freaking out?

Horses that don't rein back whilst they're round usually hate the feeling of being sat on their hocks typically for three massive reasons: 1) they're lazy 2) they haven't been taught to do it correctly before 3) it physically hurts them to do it.
Establish which and once you know you can fix it from there

Do you eat meat, do you have an opinion on it? (Let's not judge eachother)

I eat a little yes, but not really as much as I used to
