Depends on what kind of advice.. I usually follow advice but I'm usually the person giving advice, not the other way around. :p

Why is acceptance usually better than denial? (Be philosophical)
Well obviously no one wants to be denied, right? Imagine this, you love this guy for YEARS and finally one day, you work up the courage to go up to him and TELL HIM. So you go tell him and he practically denies you saying 'you're better off as friends' or 'I'd prefer if we stayed friends'. Friendzone + denial?! Not so nice! Or if you're going to your favorite university, one that you've been wanting to go ever since you were in middle school! So finally its the time you send in your college application.. After some waiting, you get a letter saying that they didn't accept you. You'd feel so bad, right?! But imagine how you'd feel if instead of denial in those two situations, they were acceptance.. You'd get a totally different feeling!
