What do you think of the NBA vis-a-vis the PBA (and the UAAP and USNCAA if you follow those)? Do you prefer one over the other?

Finally, something different.
The NBA just makes us look weak in comparison, because we're obviously not as physically capable as the Americans. That said, though, the disparity isn't quite as jarring since the NBA has become more and more of an international league itself, but I guess it's still quite visible when you consider that imports on a PBA team stick out like a sore thumb.
Think you should've asked me the other way around (PBA vis-a-vis NBA). I have always hated the fact that the PBA's teams are corporate rather than geographical. It makes us (this country) seem like a futurized dystopia where corporate brands rule everything. That's why the MBA intrigued me, but I guess their marketing sucked ass and the fact that they didn't have the stars hurt them.
But really, I don't see how going geographic hurts the country. Professional sports - when evolved properly - have always been proven to be helpful to the economy on a local level. The PBA sells small arenas out in Visayas and Mindanao, so why can't they start something up there?
This is more obvious in the UAAP/NCAA, vis-a-vis the USNCAA. Clearly, colleges and universities don't only exist in Metro Manila. So why can't the NCAA live up to the N in its name and provide for conferences in non-Metro Manila regions? They've got their own fanbases, and given time and proper marketing and exposure, those places will also be good sources of talent and entertainment. If you do this right, pretty soon young players who live in farther-flung areas won't have to live with the mindset that you have to go to a university in the Gates of Hell to be successful.
That said, there are too many conferences to follow in the USNCAA, but if you're an American who goes to an American school, or have just grown up with that system, this is generally easier for you.
Anyway, you can save the god damn country through sports. You just need political will.
(Apologies if this rant was longer and different than expected.)

When do you know?

I'm... going to assume this is about one thing. And I've answered this question before. Hold on, lemme look for it.
Here we go, found it. Wow, it was from three months ago. You still with me? Here it is:
"I can't tell you exactly how because it's a completely different process from one person to another. What you look for - personality traits, interests, signs - in a significant other is not the same as what I look for.
I could tell you that s/he might be the one if you cannot stop hoping against hope that s/he would love you back, no matter how hard you try, but you might be the kind of person who moves on to the next one regardless of what you felt. I could tell you that s/he might be the one if s/he manages to get you to change your ways and be a better person, but you might be the kind of person who doesn't need or want to change the way he is. I could tell you that s/he might be the one if you two are almost alike, but you might be the kind of person who wants someone with whom you wildly contrast.
Or, OR - you think you know what you want, then all of a sudden a person who does not fit any of your criteria comes along and changes the whole game for you.
The short answer is: you're better off finding out for yourself than asking me for guidance. Because when you find that person, you will know right away. And the way to get there might look or feel nothing like anything I could ever tell you."
Anyway, if this question isn't about that... how 'bout you be a little more clear, for both our sakes?

Film at music genre na hindi mo lang talaga thing?

gelibeans1’s Profile PhotoGeli Blanco
Music - house, and anything that's way too dance-y. EDM is fine if it still borders on the mainstream, but if the music starts losing its words and gets too electronic and loopy, I'm out.
Film - indie films, especially if they're LGBT. I have nothing against indie filmmakers and the LGBT community at all, and I respect the things they're trying to do, but it's really not my thing.

Describe yourself five years ago

gelibeans1’s Profile PhotoGeli Blanco
Around this time five years ago, because it was summer, I'd been spending all my summer days cooped up in front of my old laptop, aircon at full blast 24/7, waking up at noon and playing World of Warcraft until like 3 in the morning. I would also be doing the cooking in the house.
He wasn't feeling too optimistic about anything then, but little did summer 2008-me know that it would later be a good year.

What were you like in High School?

I believe I answered this - or a similar question - some time ago.
But as I told a friend, I was my own person. We, as a group of friends, were our own persons. We weren't too popular, nor were we too "low" on the "totem pole" (even acknowledging that there *might* have been such a thing still kind of disgusts me). If there was a TV show based around my high school life, I would've been a good fit for the "all-around" stereotype, like a Cory Matthews. I was somewhere in the middle, I kind of did a lot of things, and I was cool with that. I appreciated that my feet were still on the ground, even though I was kind of an immature, arrogant jackass sometimes (but that's the teenage years for you).

True.

Why/ why not?

gelibeans1’s Profile PhotoGeli Blanco
Di ko pa alam eh. I haven't thought that far ahead, and I suppose my expectations would really depend on how he/she performs throughout his academic life and what he/she wants to do.
Like if what he/she really wants to be in life can't be found in UP - or any college/university at all - what would be the point in me expecting him/her to go to UP? Isama mo na rin d'yan kung di siya ganun kagaling academically. :))

Describe your college ID photo

gelibeans1’s Profile PhotoGeli Blanco
It was the first year of college, and as all boys fresh out of a restrictive Catholic school do at least once in their lives, I had been growing out my hair. I wasn't in the best of moods on the day I had my ID picture taken, so when people look at it (I still keep it in my wallet as a spare, and I've never gotten a new one until I got to Law) they think I'm being my usual sleepy self, but the truth is I was really just annoyed and I had to force the most neutral of expressions just so my photo wouldn't look like a mugshot.

Uno Cards, Jenga, or Monopoly; saan ka pinaka nag-enjoy as a child?

gelibeans1’s Profile PhotoGeli Blanco
Tangina medyo mahirap 'tong sagutin ah.
Tingin ko mas nag-enjoy ako sa Monopoly kahit di ko nagets masyado yung objective ng game, at kahit wala pa kong natatapos ni isang laro.

Chief Justice Manuel Moran? Lolo mo?

gelibeans1’s Profile PhotoGeli Blanco
De, but I've been told that we are distantly related.
Of course, I haven't ruled out the possibility that this could just be my arrogant family being arrogant.

Headphones, earphones, or speakers?

Can I say that as a huge music geek, I love all three equally?
I love headphones when I don't wanna be fucked with. I love earphones because they're very minimal and easy to store. I love speakers when I'm studying/working because when I'm busy, I need the music away from my ear.

Do you have a favorite Supreme Court justice?

Chief Justice Moran, for obvious reasons. Teehankee too because he was a badass, as well as Perfecto because he is an *amazing* writer, even if he's a little too flowery.

Just thought I should let you know that your bromance with Stan amuses me.

Jocs, this you?
And thank you, we try.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

A good sense of humor.
Secretly, though (when I say secretly I mean I won't say anything but I like it) I like those who are affectionate.

What's more valuable, brains or beauty?

Brains, man. Ain't nothing more annoying than a girl who gets a lot of things wrong.

What are your favorite beverages?

Hot chocolate is my all-time favorite. For beer, I always have Red Horse, and for sodas, rootbeer.
