It's not that easy. Based on the way I have to deal with freelancers' pay for our titles, freelancers won't get paid until much later, especially if they write for print. Unless I have gigs everywhere I'll have to find another day job just to get by

How is a typical scout mag day? I wanna work there
There is no typical Scout mag day, whether you're the EIC like Jed or an EA like me. If you're asking about the fun stuff, sometimes we get to go on shoots and we either eat and I interview people, sometimes I have to sit in the office and deal with people, and sometimes I have to do our fucking accounting. Sometimes I have to transcribe my long-ass interviews and write.
It all depends on where we are in a given production cycle, and even that isn't set in stone; we overlap a lot now.

Hows work?
It's... eh. It's half-and-half. I mean it pays the bills, I get to write stuff I'm legit stoked to write about, but at the end of the day I can't help but feel that there are other things I'm more excited to do with my life. Around this time last year I learned that I'd much rather be a writer than an editor, but sometimes it feels great to produce something that comes off well.

I feel for you, but the only advice I can give you is let it be. Live.Be happy for him as well, because if you love him, you'll want nothing but his happiness. It sounds corny, but it does feel nice.
I can't say for sure if living will get rid of the feeling completely, but you *will* be distracted, and you *will* be amazed by what you can do. I daresay that alone should be enough motivation to go out there and live your life.
