Well, you know, there are no universal jokes. Every joke has its own market and what you did is throwing a joke to a wrong market.
Know your market. If the people you're trying to approach is metalhead, don't throw anime jokes at them.

Menurut kalian nih idealnya bawa cewe ke rumah ktemu ortu pas udh berapa bulan sih. Cewe gw baru dua bulan jalan udh kode kode pengen ktemu nyokap tp gw blm siap. Yg aneh gw apa dia?

I like the idea of meeting parents as soon as you're starting the relationship, because when your/your partner's parents don't agree with your relationship, it'll be easier to end it before you're falling too deep with him/her.
