Should I use "Picture Show" from Bonnie and Clyde or "Pulled" for Addams Family to audition for 13 the musical? Im an alto, a girl, and I'm going out for Patrice.

I think either would work! Just choose whichever one you can sing the best and that best shows off your voice. Ex. If You like singing pulled but can't hit some of the high notes, then sing the other one. But that's just an example. But I think both of those would work!

I was told to find a one minute comedic monologue. I found a monologue that I find funny but I'm not quite so sure if it counts as comedic... how do I know?

Try saying it to someone else, if it makes them laugh, it's comedic.

Do you have a nickname? What is it?

My name is hyphenated but I only go by the first part of it so I guess that's my nickname.
Although when my mom was signing me up for kindergarten I did tell her that my nickname was Piano and that's what all the kids should call me!

What do you do to calm your nerves before an audition? What are your best preaudition tips to keep your voice in the best condition it can be?

I pray, I practice and make sure I'm prepared. I've also heard that banana's help calm nerves. As far as keeping your voice in good shape, don't drink anything with a lot of sugar (especially soft drinks), do not drink anything cold. Room temperature water w/ half a lemon is the best! Try throat coat or warm herbal tea. Warm up well before you sing, and I usually suck on a ricola about an hour before singing. Break a leg!

for the rent audition, we aren't supposed to specify which character we want, and i have to sing 32-48 bars of a song

Then is say if you can sing it, and it shows off your range, go for it!

do you think that someone else's story from chess would be a good audition song for rent?

It depends on the character you are auditioning for, and how long you have to sing it

I'm auditioning for suessical and I'm a mezzo soprano. do you think I have a chance at sour kangaroo?

Well it's hard to say since I don't actually know what your voice sounds like, but I'm sure your range could handle the Sour Kangaroo's songs!

So Wednesday I have an audition for little red in into the woods. So I was wondering if you had any tips or anything

Love that show! And if I ever had a chance to audition, I would go out for Little Red! Just go in and rock it! Little Red is full of personality, she is peppy, bubbly, sassy, and a little bratty. Try to show all that in your personality! (But tone down the bratty, you do want to be cast!). Choose a song (if you haven't already) that shows this: maybe like My New Philosophy or I Speak Six Languages! show them what makes you right for the role! Break a leg!

I have an audition for The Drowsy Chaperone a little less than a month, and I need a song. I'm a mezzo/soprano 2 who can't belt all that well but is good with character voices. Also, the cut needs to be 16-32 bars and in the style of the show. Any ideas? Ty in advance! <3

Well since you say you're not that strong in belting, I wouldn't suggest Janet for you. So you could go for Trix, Kitty, or Mrs. Tottendale.
For Trix: Play With Your Food
Kitty: Audrey's pat in Suddenly Seymour
Mrs. Tottendale: one of Madames songs from Cinderella
Most of the characters in this show belt some and a few of these characters are in the alto range, just work on your breath support!

I have an audition coming up with a company I've never worked with. what are some tips you have?

Don't let the fact that you've never worked with them before intimidate you. You might be the fresh face they are looking for! Treat it like any other audition. Be professional and go in there and do your best! Introduce yourself to the directors and be polite! You want to make a good first impression so that even if you don't get cast in this show, they may remember you for future productions. Break a leg!

I was wondering what I should wear to an audition with dance? so that I look nice, but I can still dance in it.

I usually wear a casual dress (nothing too fancy) with leggings and closed toed shoes if not dance shoes
This is my go-to audition dress (but with black leggings)

Are you outgoing or shy?

People at school would say I'm shy but on stage I'm pretty outgoing:)

I think you're cool! <3

Aww thanks <3
... But I think you'd change your mind if you actually knew me! But I guess I'm adorkable *insert sassy hand emoji here*

Any 1 minute comedic female monologues you have to recommend? :)

Hmm, I'm not sure but try stageagent.com, I think they might have some!

Which movies or books have made a big impact on you?

Movies: Big Fish, Soul Surfer, The Boy In the Striped Pajama's, Hugo
Books: Penny from Heaven, The Fault in our Stars, Night

I know this is pretty late but I have a musical audition in a little over an hour. Any last minute tips?

Drink lots of water, no yelling or screaming, be prepared, don't go in with the intent to look good. Yes, you want to impress the directors, but this isn't about making yourself look good, it is about seeing whether or not you are right for the part! Take a deep breath, wow them, and break a leg!

What is a healthy way to sing with vibrato without damaging anything. I can't afford lessons but would love to learn this technique x

Well it is very important to let your vibrato develop naturally, so don't rush anything. Don't push a vibrato too hard, no one likes a forced-sounding vibrato. There are some wonderful voice lessons on YouTube you can look at is you can't afford lessons, just be careful not to harm your voice when practicing on your own:)
