Okay this is weird but audition songs: my range is comfortably A3-G5. Standard ballads that aren't too belty? Thanks in advance for you help

A3-g5 makes you a mezzo right? That gives you tons of great songs!
A change in me or home- beauty and the beast (
Hold on- secret garden
The girl I mean to be- secret garden
Dyin aint so bad- bonnie and clyde
Reflection- Mulan
I'm not that girl- wicked (only if you find nothing else)
Most of these do have some belting(sorry!) but with your range it's hard to find ballads that don't. If you want to look some more try stageagent.com or this passage from the Singers Musical Theatre Anthology http://www.halleonard.com/bin/MiscVocalSmtamezzo.pdf
break a leg!

Do you think Without You from Rent is a good audition song? Not for any specific character. I'm auditioning for GSA and we need a ballad and an uptempo. I'm pretty sure I'm a mezzo and I have a pretty strong belt. If not this song then do you have any suggestions? Thank you!!!

If you can sing it well go for it!

I'm going to see Pippin, Chicago, and Kinky Boots! What's your opinion of these shows? :)

All have some awesome songs, but out of the three, I would choose Pippin. I've heard its INCREDIBLE.

I recently decided to audition for my school show this year. My first audition ever. The cast list went up a couple of days later and I got the lead of the show. I've never been so nervous in my life. I'm unsure how to learn lines easily and I'm so stressed out. Help?

The same thing happened to me in my first show, I was just trying theatre out and I got the lead! To learn lines, I usually right my cue line in one side of a flashcard and my line on the back. It really works well! I also have a friend or family member read the script while I say my lines!
For nerves, take a deep breath and remember that you wouldn't have gotten this role of the directors didn't think you were capable. If people give you a hard time for getting the led in your first show,(jealous people) ignore them. They weren't in charge of casting. Be proud of yourself and break a leg!

What is a good audition song for Patrice in 13?

Pulled- Addams Family
Notice Me Horton- Seussical
For You- Seussical
Maybe- Annie
My New Philosophy- You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown

Do you know if Laura dose stagedoor for Cindarella

I've never been but I'm pretty sure she does, at least she did in her princess diary vlogs!

If you were casting a show, would you rather have someone look the part but not have the talent, or would you rather someone have the talent but not have the appearance that the role requires?

I would look for the full package, talent and looks, but I would rather have someone with the talent. Because even if they don't look the part costumes and makeup can help

I know that it's usually a wise idea to audition for a musical with a song from another musical...but what about a song from a Disney movie? (More specifically, "Frozen").

A lot of time Disney works well too! Disney songs are VERY similar to musical theatre songs! But it really depends on your vocal range and the show you are auditioning for

What do you think was the best movie of the year?

It's probably going to be Saving Mr. Banks, but I haven't seen it yet. I also enjoyed Catching Fire, Thor 2, and I'm gonna LOVE the hobbit

What are some characters in a musical who are sisters? (For example, Nessa and Elphaba).

White Christmas, sound of music, cinderella, and probably ore that I just can't think of right now

What is the musical "RENT" about?

Rent is a rock musical with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson[1] based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York City's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

How should I position myself at my singing audition for my HS musical? I know good singing posture. I just don't wanna look like I'm nervous by either being a stiff twig or swaying about. And any tips on calming nerves or anything just inspirational?

Stand with your legs shoulder length apart and let your arms hang loosely by your sides. While you're singing though, let your arms move freely to help you express but you don't want it to look too choreographed.
As for inspirational, be yourself and be confident! No one wants to see you crash and burn, everyone wants you to do well!
Dream big, shoot for the stars, soon enough, we'll get what's ours!

So what advice can you give me about landing a lead?

Wow them at your auditioning. Leave everything you have in front of those directors. Make it so they wouldn't even want to consider anyone else for that part. Go in there owning it.
But don't be arrogant or cocky, just be confident. And if you don't get the lead, still be proud. You did the best you could and you probably just weren't right for that role, but keep trying because there is always a chance that you impressed the creative team and they will remember you for another role.
If you get the lead be proud of yourself but respect those who got smaller roles. Don't flaunt that you got the role, put all your energy into making your performance the best it can be!
