So I'm looking at taking dance classes do you have any suggestions on what type of class I should take?

If you can only choose one, ballet is a good place to start. Ballet is the base of all forms of dance and can teach you things you can use in other styles. Tap and jazz are also good styles of dance that could prepare you for musical theatre:)

What do you think of Parade?. I love it partly because it takes place in Atlanta and I'm from there and the story is incredible, but that's just me.

I honestly don't know that much about it. Sorry:(

If you could be a part of one show on Broadway right now, which one would it be and why?

Newsies or wicked! Out of all my dream roles Katherine and Galinda are the only two on broadway!

So my school is doing Grease next year and I'm torn between three parts which should I try for? Sandy, Rizzo or Marty?

Look at which character you think you can play the best. Look at what songs they sing and choose from that! Is there any chance you can audition for all three?!?

What's your favorite part about being in a show? Mine is seeing your costume for the first time.

My favorite part is when I first get on stage with the spotlights on. I get a thrill that reminds me why I do what I do. I know tech is hectic and stressful but many times that's when I first go on stage and I just love it!

Every time I'm in a show with a guy and we are supposed to fall in love in the show I actually develop feelings for him. What does this mean? Should I be worried?

I think anytime you spend a lot of time around a guy and he shows you attention you develop some feelings for him. This doesn't exactly mean that he will become your boyfriend though! During the show at least keep it just friends because showmances don't end well a lot. And if your feelings change with every show, your probably not ready to be in a steady relationship yet

What's your favorite musical? If u don't have one what's your favorite movie

I have many favorite musicals (in no particular order) wizard of oz, newsies, wicked, phantom, or les mis and my favorite movies would have to be soul surfer, singing in the rain, lord of the rings trilogy or pirates of the carribean:)

I'm doing a one week theatre intensive program & performing a play in that same week. The monologue I'm doing is about a girl who talks to herself preparing to meet a new person. How would a make a character talking to themselves big ? :/

Use your facials, your voice and your body. Make sure you convey what your character is trying to express. My drama teachers motto is big simple always. Keep your reactions big but simple, nothing too complex

Do u have any advice for auditions?

Be yourself do your best and be BIG! Many directors are looking for people who are willing to do anything! Be over the top. Trust me its easier to tone it down than to do more. If you have to choose a song or a monologue for your audition choose something similar to the show you are auditioning for and that really showcases your skills! Never give up!

What are your thoughts on Footloose the musical?

I don't actually know that much about it, sorry:(

I'm doing a workshop with professionally educated broadway actors through the broadway dreams foundation. I've never actually been to a dance class or voice lesson. Do you think this will be a problem? And what do I need?

the information on the workshop will usually say if any experience is required. Usually you just need to be able to carry a tune and pick up simple dance steps

Do you have a Twitter account? (Just curious) Second of all, I'm auditioning for Honk! in the fall. I really want Ida. The odds are in my favor because I'm lucky to be a director's favorite. The problem is that Ida is very different from me. Any tips for my audition and really nailing the character?

I do have a twitter it is @trutheatrekid. And Ida is a great role I played her last year! She is very motherly and caring but when it comes to protecting her son, she's a pretty fierce chick (or duck I guess) she does ALOT of singing in the show so make sure you are prepared for that. The music is written for a soprano and there are a few song made up of pretty high notes but she also gets to do some belting:) character wise, you really need to make sure you can show just how far she is willing to go to protect her ugly duckling but still show a caring side. She has to leave her four other ducklings AND her husband to find her son and at the end of the show make it look like she still loves them. There are so many levels you can delve into. Audition wise, sing a song that show belting and the soprano in you and also that portrays a fierce but sweet character, I sang part of your world from the little mermaid! Hope this helps!

I dream about getting into Juilliard . I want to apply to other performing arts schools, but Juilliard seems so terrifying . Like it's almost impossible to get in. How do I go after that when I probably won't even get in? :/

Anything is possible if you work and train HARD! It is hard to get in but it IS possible. Just try to be the best you can be and even if you don't get into Julliard, there are dozens of great performing arts schools out there. Most broadway performers don't go to Julliard but came out of another great college.

If you ever get a chance to meet Sierra Boggess do. She was so nice to me when I met her. What would ask or tell her if you met her?

Amanda Willis
I would tell her how talented I think she is and ask her for advice. I would ask her what I can do to improve my voice and how to belt those high notes! And also ask her to introduce me to Ramin;)

Do you know Sierra Boggess? If so what is the best role she's portrayed?

Amanda Willis
I know of sierra boggess and I wish I could meet her. I think she has done brilliantly in all her roles but she portrayed Christine Daae in the 25th anniversary production of phantom of the opera beautifully
