What do you think of singing "In my own little Corner" for a GSA audition? Is it ballad-y enough?

It's a little upbeat for a ballad but I think it is still considered a ballad. I've never looked into GSA so I'm not really sure. But just choose something that showcases your talents:)

If A gUy Asked You On A Date With A Showtune, Wich One You Would Prefer?

Her voice- the little mermaid, something to believe in- newsies, and Run Away with Me (even though I wouldn't run away...) who's asking? Lol

Just wondering, how many times have you not gotten a callback, but still gotten cast?

Technically 6, but for some reason, my school doesn't usually do callbacks period so probably actually 4!

I have an audition soon and I'm singing a song but I want to dress in a way that would be appropriate for that character. When trying to dress like a character is it better to dress like the character itself or more of the character's spirit and attitude

Characters spirit and attitude

I keep having these absolute gut feelings that I was cast. I can't really explain it, but I just feel very strongly about it . Then, I always end up not getting cast. It's a huge let down because I felt so strongly. I don't know why this happens! I seriously think fate just likes to tease me. :(

It just means that you are confident in yourself! You are proud of your audition and because of that you feel like you should be cast. But sometimes you might not be what the director has in mind for the show, no matter how great your audition might have been :( keep trying though!

I am sick and have a show in two days where I'm the lead. I'm on vocal rest and drinking lots of tea and juice. Any other ideas that might help? Thanks!

Don't whisper but don't yell. Only talk/sing when you have to! Ricola lozenges!

My part isn't big at all. I'm just ensemble. And the other people he kicked out didn't show up, like, two or three times. Just playing hooky I think. And this musical opens in 9 days so nothing else should collide. But Ty for the advice! I was going to talk to him today but he was busy.

Ok hope it all works out!

What would be a good audition song for Sandy in Grease ? I am a soprano but my range hasn't grown that much, what would u suggest?

Part of your world, good morning Baltimore (reprise), reflection, any song about a girl trying to figure out who she is! Break a leg!

...I probably won't miss all of the rehearsal, just most of it. I don't want to miss the possible callback, but I also don't want to miss rehearsal and have my grade be effected. And when I say the directors strict, I mean he's really strict. :( he already kicked a few people out of the show already

Did he kick them out because they were doing something theatre related or because they were just playing hooky? Most directors are understanding if you are doing something theatre related. If you get in this show, will your rehearsal schedules collide? In that case I can understand him saying no. You did make a commitment to your current show but it is your choice to go to this callback. Not his.

I might end up getting called back for a show on Saturday but I also have rehearsal at school that day. The director is very strict. He wants to know all conflicts way before hand. I didn't really know until recently tho. If I get a cb, what do I say to my director so he won't get mad?...

The show you are currently in does come first. However, if you are called back, it may be an opportunity you don't want to miss. How big is your part? Is it a role that would affect others if you missed rehearsal? Talk to your director and explain to him that this just came up and you didn't know about it before you started your current show. He should understand. If he doesn't, see if you can make other arrangements with the director you may be getting a callback for. Break a leg!

what's your favorite quote from a musical?

"I want to live not just survive" - Catch me if you can
"To love another person is to see the face of God"- Les Miserables
"Happy is what happens when all your dreams come true"- Wicked
"Impossible things are happening every day"- cinderella
"Even if you're little you can do a lot, you mustn't let a little thing like little stop you!"- Matilda
...and many many more!

What are good audition songs for Thoroughly Modern Millie? I'm a soprano and I'd lol to be Dorothy, but I also want to show that I can belt so I can keep my options open. Thanks!

Go for classic belt songs, Sutton Foster, Patti Lupone, and Ethel Merman songs are all good belter songs! Break a leg!

What are some good songs similar to "The Cell Block Tango" from Chicago?

The only one I can think of right now is The Big Dollhouse from Hairspray
